You've chosen a very challenging quartered scheme. While the quartering is well done, I'm not sure I'm feeling the choice of colours. IMO, the best quartered schemes have one bright colour and one neutral colour (brown, beige, black or white).

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

If you play as Orks as well, I would go with the blue for the Maries, just for some contrast on the table.

I would go with blue and white, as that is a nice clean scheme to go with the straight laced image of the Space Marines.

Fluff wise, you can call them Ork Hunters. There was some fluff in an old issue of White Dwarf #263...the two colors you have now look orky when used together. And looking at this thread made me think of the Ork Hunters.

I like them. A little bit of misdirection goes down well with me. If I were a Chaos Marine walking towards one of these I'd be like all "Oh s**t dude, those Marines have purple guns. Must shoot fairy dust and sherbert. This'll be easy and OHMIDARKGODWHY!"

Exactly what I was thinking.

I love the quartered effect but I'm not crazy about the colours, Lovely Deathskull Orky colour though Try a pale blue Marine with white shoulder pads, white knee pads or even all blue with the quatered white and blue on the shoulder pads?

I love quartered schemes, and I have a lot of respect for those that try them (and even more for those that succeed), but as was noted by most, the colours just don't fit. The highlights/shading are also far too large and end up taking away from the overall scheme. UM Blue and whatever Blue you're using in this scheme might look good together. White and blue would also go quite well together like Silver said.

And yea... Purple Bolter cases just aren't fitting with the scheme. All easy corrections to make though. Keep trying, because quartered coloursets look great on the tabletop

TO realy get a good schema for your marines i woudl advise you to look up a "color wheel".

A color wheel will show you what colors complemnt each other (across from each other on the wheel) and what colors cancel or are similar to eachother (adjacent)

The two main colors you have chosen are a primary and secondary color that are not complementary. thus creating and odd visual look for the figure. The purple gun is obtuse to both the green and the blue thus totally throwing the figure off.

Hope this helps.

PS. I would also advise looking at "Color METALS" , as in medival times, the color white and yellow were used as a representation of silver or gold. Look at old heraldry and you will see quatered designs using a primary such as green or blue.. and a "metal" white or yellow in the opposite ...

When i was painting the bolter i wasnt sure how the heck i should paint it
i didnt really want to use metallics because it came out really funky looking
ok so im going to do a different color to replace the green and does anyone have any ideas for the bolter's new color

It's hard to see, mainly because off the bright backround. I like what your going for but one colour should be a dark or bland colour. A good way around this isto look at a colour wheel as AtraAngelis mentioned. If you go with green it should be a red colour(like the gun casing for DA) and if you go with a blue, try an orange(really compliments the blue IMHO)

Consider using a darker green and a parchment color in place of the blue. They look great together.

You can also paint more then just complimentary colors; such as split compliments or analogous color schemes.
Perhaps you could quarter just the shoulders (as in each shoulder pad has four quadrants as well as the helmet) and the helmet to help ease the 50/50 battle for your eye's attention.
Others have also stated that using a less saturated earth tone or neutral color would go nicely in place of one of the current ones.
