Yeah, I do the same thing. I'll order, say, a battleforce or some other big box set from Maelstrom, but for most regular boxes (core/troops boxes etc) and blisters, I go to my FLGS. It's not exclusively a GW-owned store, so I don't feel guilty about giving them my beautiful money. What's more, there are no irritating Redshirts there. Not once have I heard "Would you like to buy this Stompa as well? How about this Space Marine army, or these twenty blister packs?"

I was wondering about this actually. For me I wouldn't save enough for it to really be worth it to buy just from them, but in Oz-land I can understand how fantastic it could be.

I got the Dark Elves army book and a box of Corsairs, which normally costs $77 AUD, and with the discount it cost me $45 AUD. I'd say that, combined with the free shipping, is worth the shipping time. Use this discount while you can, people!

how is this a good deal barring any exchange rate difference? (other than for Oz dakkites who apparently have to sit on a special pillow thanks to GW's retail pricing there) i'm assuming RRP is "regular retail price". so they offer a 15% birthday discount? so do they normally charge full UK retail on their website? i'm not seeing how this is any better of a deal than the warstore with it's 20% off (birthday or not) or even wayland (who has a static 20% off also).

To be honest I'd still order from Wayland Games. Their prices are cheaper: around 80% of UK RRP as standard. Also, I'm not sure I've seen Black Reach cheaper than Wayland sell it for.

Even if I found something cheaper, I doubt I could be tempted away from Wayland due to their customer service being so excellent. It's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned. They'll also ship abroad, so all you Aussies might find them a good place to get stuff from.

Anyway; just my two cents

If you live in the UK, there are many other sites you can find a better discount on.

Sadly this sale doesn't add much just 2.5% over their regular 12.5 off of warhammer stuff. Their previous sale a few months back was 17% and it stacked.

Just for HBMC's enjoyment, I suggest you listen to the latest edition of the Heelanhammer podcast. Which is broadcast entirely from the Maelstrom games site in the UK, and includes interviews on their future ideas and stuff.

These guys are more than just an online retail outlet, they have a physical store and plans and the building for an amazing gaming and hobby centre.

There's also a Thread on The Warhammer Forum with cool photos of its development.

And yes, this is another maelstrom plugging contribution, but they do well, and they're nice chaps too (I've met a couple).
