Hi guys!

You might remember me from about six months ago, when I had the intention of making a Dark Mechanicus army using the Eldar rules. Unfortunately my PS3, my last semester at University as well as work came in the way, and not much happened. Until last week that is, when I finally got back into the hobby. The Eldar rules have been switched for the new Imperial Guard rules (the Order Rules just fit so well with how I envision a Mechanicus army to work), but more importantly, our gaming group have started to take an interest in playing =I=munda, probably with me at the helm. So to give the other players som evil-doers to fight against, I will mainly concentrate on getting cool DM characters for them to square off against.

So without further ado (it got a bit long anyway), I give you the first four characters, expect more as this blog goes on. Especially backgrounds-wise, right now I've just got nicknames for them, but those names will probably help me with creating stories and personalities for the different characters.

The Executioner and the Fleshcrafter

The Wizened Sage and the Alchemist

They've also created two fighter-monster-constructs to do most of the battling for them, as well as some Dark Skitarii:

As always, please excuse the bad photos, and C&C is more then welcome!

Very nice! What rules are you using for the non-skitari?

Very nice models, I have few of those iron brotherhood models myself, they´re really nice sculpts.
Interesting to see this angle on the mechanicus, I can certainly see these working for =I=Munda as well.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like them!

40k-wise, the skitarii will be veterans, with the Fleshcrafter as Sergeant Bastonne. The Executioner will be a Command Squad Commander, while the last two guys will be simple Infantry Squad Sergeants. The Warrior Constructs counts-as Sentinels with multi-lasers. When I get my next paycheck I will order a bunch of Pig-Iron Kolony Ferals to use as menial workers, also known as IG Infantry Squads in 40k.

The legs come from a russian game called Robogear. Check out this link:

The Executioner is based on an old Rogue Trader-era Adeptus Mechanicus-figure. I've just changed the head of his axe for a newer one. I was really pleased to see an old model (it's from 1988) stand up so well to the test of time, althoug I don't think it would have sculpted flames on its lower legs if it was a contemporary model...

Back from another hiatus (which seems to be the standard for this army), I've got some WIP shots, and I'm in need of some help.

First some WIP's, the following will be my Worker Menials in the army (counts as-guardsmen), but I still need to finish the bases on them (ran out of Scar Red). The reason all five have the exact same pose is that I began painting all five of the same pose that I had, to speed up the painting process.

Following up is my WIP-Kaban Project Mark II (or "Wall-Eeee!", as my friend said the first time she saw it). Background-wise, my army is being led by an adept of Lukas Chrom, who is trying to build a new version of the Kaban Project. Lacking the original plans, his quest takes him across the galaxy in search for the right parts. Now here is my problem, looking at the model below, I'm unsure of what to do with the front plate. I can either paint it black and do burning runes on it, kind of a trademark of the army. But I'm also thinking of doing some kind of eyes, like on the original Kaban Project (see picture below). Now, which one do you think would look better, and, if I decide to go for the eyes, how can I make them? I'm totally lost for ideas, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking!

Looking great man! You might want to include some smaller robed figures with bionics, base them on the Night Goblin models perhaps and then with added weird bionics.

Oh yeah, some Cyborg Elders might be cool as "servants" to the vehicles?

Most excellent work!! Strong and fitting theme, and the love comes through in the finished articles.

The basing is a bit dull and monotone in comparison to the models though - so that would be one area to look into.

Very, very nice work. For the Kaban Mk2 I would go for some type of eyes in the front. Maybe use the little headlight bit from the Russ kit, if it's still even in there that is. Some type of three eye set up like the original Kaban art would look great. I really love your take on the Kaban, and the entire army in general. Keep it up!

I love'em! I've always been intrigued by Mechanicum armies, and yours is really top notch, traitors though they are. The paint scheme is very cool looking, and even considering how close all the colors are to each other, they are nicely contrasted. But the conversions! Oh, Lord! They are simply awe-inspiring. The Dark Skitarii I find are especially good.

Of all those things, I have but one tiny nit pick. If those are the Leman Russ threads on the Kaban, won't it fall backwards pretty easily when driving up-hill and such?

Terrific work! I've been kicking around the idea of Dark Mech as my next big army project. But these really capture much of what I envisioned, even down to the very dark color scheme. So I think I might have been trumped before I even start, LOL.

Have you given any thought to incorporating some exposed muscle in your Dark Mech constructs? Seemed like that was a running theme in Dark Mechanicum.

Another great bit of work sir! The brownish grey robes really convey that ratty, low quality cloth look which matches the theme wonderfully. I would agree with Migs thoug that adding some rocks or smashed bits to the bases would go a long way towards making them more deserving of the excellent painting and conversion work!

And +1 on the eye on the front of Kaban. That is looking freaking awesome. Are you using Stompa or titan type rules for him?

Jammunition: =][=munda is Necromunda, usually with modified rules for representing non-ganger type forces, like Inquisition or mechanicus parties, that sort of thing.
