Well me and me chums were talking about kroots and the fun ideas you may have to convert 'em as they practicly turn or rather take the strenght of the things theyre eatin so i thought i would make an army of kroots with fun things as krootoxes and hounds and stuff, i will have maybe a great knarloc nr 2 from forgeworld, check it it's pretty cool

dont know if im gonna base my models on jungle or city terrain because i've taken much inspiration from fallout 3 and the upcoming game RAGE from ID and the apocalyptic wasteland seems so awesome.

heres a list on what i thougt could fit my ideas and wallet:

Tau Etheral (Kroot Master Shaper) w 2 weapons

8 firewarriors (smaller, tau like kroot w pulse rifles)

12 kroot warriors w shaper w pulse rifle

10 warriors w shaper and 3 krootox

Maybe a 10 squad with lotz o hounds (8-12)

a squad of 2-3 XV8 batlle suits (converted to weapon platforms with hovver stabilaisors)
or a squad of 6 XV25 stealth suits (sneaky, wall-leaning kroot with nicer armot and scarfes on the head)

Problably a squad of snipers (kroots w longrifles crouching and one with a spyglass)

Tell me what you think, heres some pics on how the shaper will hopfully become

Why not just use the chapter approved rules for Kroot?

I always thought the fluff about eating the dead was the best thing they had going for them (from a modeling point of view)

I wanna see this very very soon so quit your job and devote all of your newly found free time to acheiving this.

the first to buy is the 12 squad and make them and the shaper and start on the legs of the either snipers or the 3 stealth suitsthe krootox unit is the most xpenive and will come last, at the end of otober, earlier if i'm lucky

I'll actually go to a local store and see if i can sell my old games there for a price

The mutant is gonna look awesome, be sure to post pics. Before reading your first post in depth I was going to suggest using a jungle theme, but now, I really like the idea of urban Kroot.

I say do it urban! Jungle kroot is overdone.

This has alot of promise.

I was once looking at making a Kroot Merc army based on the Golden Path from the Frank Herbert’s Dune Book Series.

Loving the idea.

If your after some inspiration ive done a similar army myself. I converted up a Kroot army using the Tau rules not long ago. Still adding little bits to it but its playable at the moment. (Ive only posted links so i don’t distract from your post.)

One thing if your going to be doing a city themed army (or even if your not) VESPID!! Trust me, 18+ Vespid in an army will turn lots of heads. They have never let me down when tied together in my Kroot Tau force

Just as a side note. There is an updated Kroot Fan dex that you can download free. Might give some different ideas for conversions also.

I did some green on him and even fixed the dreads, but still don know if i'm going togo with the big plate or the small.
Will make one of those facial masks on him tomorrow when the dreads are dry and will add the arms maybe, if im satisfied of the torso.
the ordinary kroots are also starting, 4 almost done glueing, not gonna put them on their bases until i get the urban basing kit, still low on money but get me pay at theeee..... 25 or 28... or between, and then its some tau-kroots and suits too make

I say the large base, it will give you more room to model on. I like how the model is going overall, but I am not a fan of the dreadlocks. The just seem out of place to me as the kroot have the quills already. But it is your army so do what you want.

Very nice indeedy. Love the dreadlocks, but if it were me i'd have made em thiner to fit in with the kroot quills. Go for the larger base too, Gives you more to work with but also makes the conversion more stable when using it in game. Im really looking forward to see this finished.

Just to answer Deadly chickens question about the mount for my commander. Its a Saurian rider from Urban mammoths, urban war. Ive just removed the head and used a kroot hound head to kroot it up.

i'll try to make the dreads seem more like quills 'cause i see what ye mean but will also have a extra head(norma) just in case. will also finish the 12 kroot warriors i think

Digging it dude, great stuff already. Main thing is getting the dreads a little slimmer and smoother, with a ring or two in there for decoration. Should bring them closer to quills / industrial cyberdreads

will not base 'em until i get the urban basing kit so they will look cityish

well... the new dreads were mashed by an accident involving super glue and a fantasy gian so i made him look like a gang leader instead!
fits pretty good with the urban theme and the shaper for the kroot group is almost done as soon as i get a pulse rifle for him.
thinking of going with a greyish-blue camo theme on the clothing and make there skin grey.. or the normal brown
will probably make a second master in the future with the pic you'll see further down as it looked awesome

ho ho This is a Watcher, I love the All tau Kroot Armies. I like the idea of city kroot, they make me think of Predator I like it ^___^

Urban kroot, why did i never think of that. There are forge worlds that are completely industrialized. So when war comes, so do new gene pools!

After the long terms of city combat the kroot just adapt to their environment. Say treat ruins as.... jungle? Success!

No but seriously i'm starting to paint 2 of the kroots (they have finished bases) and one is the minor shaper, will make a dark flesh (same colour) skin and greish/purple clothes, were the purple will be the gang colour sounds good?
was thinking about red first but it would seem so... orkish when i came to the gangwagon (badass count-as either a devilfish or hammerhead) that i will post sketches of tomorrow

well as promised sketches of the wagon my guys will get, a little later that is but anyway, and saw that i have to have a battlesuit commander for the army :( wasnt planing on making that..... but yesterday i saw the movie district 9... the robot in that PWNED!!!!
So maybe i thought that it would fit? but will have it more open to show the kroot inside there, classic inhanced soldier, and he will be the gang boss
