Apologies if this is old news but I've certainly not seen him before.

Avatars of War, creators of some very beautiful minis have added the Marauder Champion to the ranks of Heros, this character is really nice looking and comes with a range of options.

That looks fantastic. Makes me wish (even more) that GW didn't use heroic scale.

I'm told this entire range scales perfectly with GW models. The Beastman lord is amazing as well and the Dark elf models are a welcome relief from the horrors of the Dreadlord range from GW.

Not my favourite Avatar of War but a nice mini, preferably with the helmet rather than the beard.

IIRC this sculpter has done figs for GW and these are exactly the same scale as GW, so fret not. They are all really good figs, I am not a dwarf fan for the most part but even those have tons of character. Love this companys figs!

Felix, the sculptor, did the Dwarf Lords for GW, and a good chunk of the Trollbloods for Hordes among other things.

I picked up the Dark Elf Sorceress, and yes, they are the same scale as GW

I do really like that bearded head, but if you didn't and wanted to sell it...

I bet there is a Space Wolf Commander conversion waiting to happen with that!

I like the bearded head too. Love the expression on his face and the pose. Deadly.

I say this every time Avatars of War puts up a new mini - GW needs Mark Gibbons to come back again. The concepts and the artwork that guy comes up with are just amazing.

Mixed review:

Good: Incredibly well sculpted. Everything has great weight and feels like it should be there. VERY well done.

Bad: Very little emotion. He's just kinda standing there. And for those that might misconstrue: emotion does not have to be yelling while pointing.

I gotta admit, the Avatars of War line kind of makes me want to restart my fantasy army. Between them and Gamezone Miniatures there are just so many awesome character models :(

And cheaper than the GW versions...

Yeah those Gamezone minis are awesome indeed, the vampire and undead cav models are incredible as are the 'empire' range.

The daemonettes on little boney things are pretty sharp too. If it were not for the fact my painting room is starting to look like the backroom of a model shop I would pick some up.

It is sort of funny, in the "wtf GW? LARN 2 BIDNESS!" vein, that so many companies make their name producing models that fill gaping holes in GW's line. Pig Iron, Avatars of War, Gamezone, just to name 3. Almost makes me wonder why GW doesn't just license out bits of their line to other companies. Let Gamezone make all the chaos knights they want, and Avatars of War make Dark Elves or something. Just have a meeting and say "Ok, what units/models do we not feel like doing for some reason? Great, who do we want to let make those instead?"

For fantasy, with the quality of these and gamezone's minis, all it takes is for one of those companies to produce multipart plastics to the same level for the rank and file and do it cheaper than GW...

And they will finally have the serious competition they need.

Ordered the Marauder Champ and Lord of Chaos yesterday ^_-.

On a side note, I changed my mind late last night on the loadout for my Lord of Chaos and sent them an email, I didn't wait more than 3 minutes for a reply from them saying it would be no problem to change the load out. Fantastic service so far from these guys.

Now I wait patiently for my email for the order to pay and then wait impatiently for them to arrive ^_-.

Can't wait to get them.

And we can't wait to see em painted!

On the note of 'load out'? Do you mean you dont get all the options for the weapons, heads etc in the one kit? I thought it came with all the choices?

For the Lord of Chaos, War Priest, Dark Elf Witch/Queen, and Vampire Countess you have to choose which gear you want, they don't come with all the options(unlike the Dark Elf Champion, Dark Elf Sorceress, and Marauder Champion).

I wouldnt say there perfect scale but they are very very close.

I have both Dwarf minis for my dwarf army and both the avatars or war minis are slightly bigger than the GW ones

Wow, the level of detail on that fig is staggering. Between the beard, the glowering facial expression, etc., I think these guys are as good in the "heroic" scale as Dark Sword is in the realistic scale sculpts. I'm off to order the Dark Elf sorceress, then.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

The Marauder Champion reminds me of Stellan Skarsgard's character in "King Arthur".

He was a Saxon Warlord. I don't think his expression changed the whole movie.

I LOVE the facial expression.
It sells the whole miniature for me.

But no. I don't play Fantasy anymore! I'm CURED DAMNIT!

Those wolves might be good for people making thunderwolf riders though.

I guess I should have said I liked the expression. Cuz I do.
