It may be the face plate. The completely black face without distinguishable eyes might be throwing you off. Not that it looks bad mind you, it adds a certain style to it, but that might be why it seems off to you.

The eyes should always stand out on a model, even when the model doesn't have a face. It's the first thing a viewer's eyes will gravitate to. Without eyes, there's no focal point.

Right now there's a black hole where the face should be. Add some colour to the eyes, and the viewer's brain will make the rest of the model click.

Also maybe do something with the weapon? Fire Dragons are traditionally given bright, fierey weapons.

it is probably due to the poor lighting, the eyes have been painted a deep red.

additionally i wanted the weapons to look dark, again it doesnt come across in the pic, but the tip of the melta gun is scorched bronze blended to black at the nozzle. i really wanted to limit the pallette of colours used.

I'm going to agree that the gun and face are a little dark. I'd actualy have gone for a white face, perhaps a blue tint to it to add a cool color contrast to the model. The gun could be lightened up enough w/ a few metalic highlights.

Glowing eyes almost always look cool. Try highlighting up a little from the deep red to a lighter red or even orange-white. Scary eyes make the model imo!

^ agreed.

The Gun and the face just look like they've been undercoated and left to fend for themselves...

Solid work on the orange and yellow though.

I like it just clean those two thing up like everyone else has mentioned and yu got a killer model.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
