Oooooh I like it. It's very gritty and dirty. Quite orky if I do say so myself. Now all you need to do is base him.

I'd love to see a whole Waaagh! painted like this.

I have to disagree, here. The entire model is done in a very muted palette, with which normal highlights would clash. The recesses are shaded already, which keeps it from looking overly flat. The "dull" aspect is, I think, entirely intentional (please correct me if I'm wrong). The dirty, muted look isn't for everyone, but I think it's done well, here.

Darth Bob said it best. Very gritty and dirty. An awesome paint job. Well done!

Needs more grim dark.

Just kidding. I definitely agree with oadie on this - the shading in the recesses is dramatic enough to give the model depth. Overall, the model looks very nice and would look even better with a sweet base.

Looks cool. Needs basing

My only 'beef' with it is that the cables going into his arm are painted as though they are muscle. Fair enough they could be green cables but it would work better if they were a different colour - IMO.

Other than that I really like it. Paint the rest up and have a clan shot. would be nice to see.

Of course, as an American, that means I must say that soccer sucks, and football (real football... you know, the one where you do everything with your hands) is 10,000 times as good. I mean, football players could probably beat up soccer players, even, because they actually know sports.

Paintjob is ok but it's lacking a focal point.

But did you glue that with super glue?

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I like the model, I think it looks very nice. It does look a trifle dark, imho, I would prolly highlight it a smidge more, but that's just me; and the darkness could be more an effect of photography. You painted it, and if you think it looks great, then it prolly does. Good job!

looks good. I tend towards more muted darker, dirty themes. Prepared to get lower painting scores at events as judges either don't like the muted style or don't have the time to look at it.
The guy that does the black to white hilighting has more pop and will usually score better.

yeah, i can't make out the individual colors and i don't think it's the image. i'd add in some brighter colors as overall the model looks like you painted it and then either dipped it or applied a very heavy wash to the whole thing. orks aren't afraid of bright colors (lol, look at the 2nd edition clown ork armies out there). dirty/dark is one thing but it's hard to tell the difference between your ork skin and ork shirt.

Very nice- did you dip it? I like dirty gritty orks as oppossed to the bright and pretty orks you see alot of.

So your arguement is, that a photon torpedo can destroy things many times its size, so it could destroy the Death Star.......?

Actually I think it wasn't so much of a muted pallet as a liberal usage of black/brown washes that muted the colors. So hitting it with a few highlights would help with definition.

I would have to agree that the skin at the very least needs a little bit of a highlight. As is, it just blends into the rest of the model... At first glance, I thought the skin was still just undercoated, awaiting the green.

Other than that, it's a good effort. The metal looks great, as does the loincloth.

thanks. i did use a very muted color scheme. i wanted him to kind of represent the dirtiness of orks. his teeth are gross brownish color and he looks sweaty and his gun and pk look rusted and worn in places. to me he captures the orky look. i'm very very proud of him. he took about 12 hours total.

yeah... it's definately the photography. it's a decent camera. but my lighting sucked. if you could see him in person you'd be able to tell. he's a good bit lighter in person.

and to answer another question asked on up the page. i use hobby lobby's model plastic glue. he just didnt go together easy
