So I'm feeling horribly unmotivated to paint at the moment, and since I've got a Planetary Empires game in this weekend where I should have 150 bonus points from Manufactorums I figured I'd work up some Plague Marine allies for my Nurgle Daemons. I'm drawing inspiration from some of the techniques used in MachineSlave's Orky Death Guard but trying to make them not so much Orky as Bulky. Here's a quick rendition of what I've gotten done in a couple hours tonight while watching Terminator Salvation. The guy in the middle is going to be the Icon Bearer, no Champion. I'll Green Stuff their rotund bellies tomarrow, and have some assorted tubes running from the barrel on their back into it, as well as add smoke stacks on the barrels. I may copy the shin armor on MachineSpirit's guys as well, as a means of bulking out their legs.

While I have a general idea of what I'm aiming for, I am also fishing for ideas on ways to bulk out said shins and shoulders and guns on these guys.

Bellies! My thought here is that it's a big plate of shaped metal bolted onto the front of their power armor as a haphazard adaptation to cover their distended and sagging stomachs. It will be interesting to see how well those hoses stay in place. Plastic glue only has a minor softening effect on the wire insulation, but I'm hoping it's enough to bond to the much more effected styrene. Coupled with the still a tad soft Green Stuff they were pushed into, it might just do the job.
I'll give em a couple of hours for everything to set up better and see about getting arms on them. Won't get their backpacks all done up today as I don't have the right size of plasticard tubing or rods, and didn't work up the motivation to dig out my driveway to go get some. I may abandon the smoke stacks anyways as I fear it might make them too top heavy with details. See how they look after they have arms and weapons.

And all armed up, both figuratively and literally. Decided chainswords didn't work for these guys, and the little knives that come with the chaos marines are just to weedy. Dug around and found a bunch of old Ork bitz, and decided the Choppas were perfect for Plagueswords, and better match the theme of the Daemons these guys are to accompany.
I kicked around the idea for awhile of using the Shootas as their Bolters, but decided it would be Too Orky at that point and used their normal guns. Couldn't have em two-handed as their bellies got in the way as I thought they might, so I just pistol gripped all their guns. Did still use a Bolter in there as well as the two Bolt Pistols and two Meltaguns.
I'll mention again the center dude is not a Champion, but an Icon Bearer. You can tell because he has the Icon Bearer's raised arm... Yeah, I'll make sure I point that out to my opponents.
At this point there is still the previously mentioned stuff I'd like to see about doing with the back canisters, but they are for the moment battle ready. We'll see if I get motivated enough to dig myself out tomorrow and get to the hobby store before they close. Otherwise these guys are good to go for a weekend battle against those who would trespass in the Gardens of Nurgle.
edit: Seemed these guys may get an extra blessing from Nurgle, as their currently "finished" state was the Seventh reply to my original post.

Well it turns out the local store where I've been getting my Plasticard recently is closed down. I thought it was odd when I stopped by a couple weeks ago and they were closed, but it was family run and figured something might have come up. When I stopped in on Friday there were no signs for being closed, or hours, the lights were off. I stuck my face to the glass, and there was no merchandise, no shelves to put any one, no counter, and half the carpet was pulled up. I'll have to go back to using the other place, but that's a bit of a ways away, so it won't be until on my way to the game shop on Tuesday, which means it'll be a bit before these get fully finished and painted.
When I do paint them I figure it'll be mostly like my Nurgle Daemons. Shades of green armor, I'm thinking one shade for the helm and belly, and a second shade for the rest of the armor. Tank'll probably be metal so I can give it some rust stains from leaks in the seals. Haven't decided on the guns yet.

Alright, I think they're pretty much done at this point, sans painting. I redid the stomach on the main guy, as while I would have liked to kept the harness in there, I just didn't like the way it looked after a couple redos, and ended up just covering over it.
And for the record, they're not plumbers, they're not wearing toilets, and you can't incapacitate them with a quick blow to a port on the back of their neck. They're more like gardeners/jungle wardens.

Like the concept alot, although I think that those huge canisters need a more obvious purpose e.g. ammo for goo guns.

I think they looked better before the vents...now they look more Steampunk, but I'm sure paint would help alot.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Really like them! Reminds me of the Bile Thralls of WM, which I always thought was a cool model. The backs I would have left without vents - you could paint them like the Singed character from League of Legends, where he has a big glass vial of toxic liquid on his back. If you have (or wanted to learn) the methods of painting glass, it would be awesome.
These guys are really going to pop on the table, and instantly recognizable as plague marines. Most Ive seen with bolters, so I do have to question them having the proper loadout with their arms? Share the painted models when you get inspired!

At this point I think I'm going to have to take off and redo several of the vent pipes. Seems I may have used a bit too much plastic glue, and some of them are half melted, and still soft and bendy to even the lightest touch. While I'm at it, I may put some thought into doing them a different way.
