Your fondest hope for 2010?

That gamezone miniatures or one of the others producing excellent 28mm heroic metals will make the leap into plastic multipart unit boxes thus facilitating the complete break from GW for me. GW desperately needs competition, it's grown bloated, detached and arrogant and needs a workout against some savvy up and coming firm or two.

Your greatest fear?

That GW will continue to price grown-ups out of the game, that eventually it will become the purvey of the kids of rich parents and that GW will eventually kill it's self and end up absorbed by WotC or Mattel or some thing and all that beautiful fluff and history will be absorbed into 'prepainted plastics with a more family orientated theme'...

Worst: See above

Your fondest hope for 2010: That the BA re-do is true and doesn't make them any worse. New Lemartes and a Thunderhawk would be awesome too.

Your greatest fear: That the BA re-do somehow makes them worse, or that Lemartes DOESN'T get a new model. I suppose I'll echo the GW going bankrupt too. I hate how the company acts, but I love 40k and don't want to see it get nixed.

Why do so many people post things that are not 2009? For example, the "old" Marine stuff (which was released late 2008).

Best Metal GW figure:
Imperial Guard Advisors
Worst:
IMO the cat isn't so bad. I'd rather say the new Kroxigors or new Terradons.
Best plastic GW figures:
Stegadon
Worst:
Empire Greatswords. You know the reason.
Best metal miniature by another company:
IMO the new Khador (or was it Cygnar?) Extreme Destroyer is pretty cool. I think it was 2009 when it was released.
Best Codex: Lizardmen
Worst: I dunno, Space Wolves?

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!
Dark Eldar: 1/0/0

Best GW metal miniature: IG Advisors get my vote simply because they look great, they're not screaming or pointing and they have better anatomy than most.

Worst GW metal miniature: Loki, or whatever his name is. great creepy face but poor pose and weird claw ruin it.

Best GW plastic miniature: Imperial Guard Valkyrie, I just bought number 3 and they are my favorite GW vehicle. EVAH! The new Space Wolves should get a mention just for the sheer number of bitz. Oh and Bastions. Even the Jersey Barriers are pretty decent.

Worst GW plastic miniature: Would it be OK to vote for replacing the 20 for $35 IG with 10 for $25 and not adding a thing? If GW had just thrown in a new sprue with special weapons I think everyone would be happy but for now it's just a ripoff. Otherwise the crashed space ship vac formed carp.

Best metal miniature by another company: Hrm, nothing comes to mind.

Worst metal miniature by another company: Again, nothing comes to mind.

Best plastic miniature by another company: Gotta give it to Warlord's English Civil War stuff.

I've no interest in the period but those are some great sculpts. Perry's ACW and Napoleonic stuff also temps me.

Worst plastic miniature by another company: Some of the Star Wars sculpts are rubbish.

Best GW rule book: codex: Imperial Guard, I thought the removal of doctrines would kill it but exciting options like vets as troops and Valks make up for it. Some of the stuff is overpowered, even in my opinion, but it's pretty much a solid book.

Worst GW rule book: Planet Strike did not tempt me at all. Even the SW book with all its problems got me to buy it and has me tinkering with ideas. PS, just didn't interest me and from what I see on this board no one's too excited by it.

Best GW/BL fluff book: I got back into BL stuff this year, read a bunch of Gaunts Ghosts and generally liked them, not sure if any are from 2009 though.

Worst GW/BL fluff book: Mechanicus. Yuk.

Your fondest hope for 2010: That Wargames Factory or someone will make multipart plastic SF or near future figures.

Your greatest fear: We've lost some manufactuers over the last few years and some games. I fear we'll lose some of the exciting entrants in plastics.

Best GW metal miniature? tough call there werre many good ones...off the top of my head i'd say Lord Commisar or chakax, eternity warden

Worst? canis wolfborn (thats really the only one i can think of)

Best GW plastic miniature? Either that Warp powered monster of a plague furnace or the Leman Russ demolisher and all its variants(ahh tank treads that make sense and none of this here glue these wheel spacers in place it will make you believe they serve a purpose but really they don't) not that iwas complaining or anything

Worst? Hmmm this is also a tough call I can't think of anything that I wasn't thrilled with ..only thing I can really make mention of would be anything LOTR related but thats a personal bias, not that it looks bad. Possibly the fact that I don't think battleforces are as good a deal as they once were ...especially when you look at the amount of models you get in say a cadian battleforce

Best metal miniature by another company? Id offer up some ideas with this but I dont know which modles were proioduced just this year

Worst?

Best plastic miniature by another company?

Worst?

Best GW rule book?

Worst?

Best GW/BL fluff book? Cadian Blood was pretty amazing

Worst? some of the moreterrible short stories from Heroes of the space marines(possibly the entire novel since it wasn't about heroes per se and mostly about chaos as well so I'd say that book for title alone)

Your fondest hope for 2010? That GW reverts to the old bits system that was awesome, and that they allow me personally to squash all Lotr to end its reign of crap under my boot heel.

Your greatest fear? That Lotr will continue to be a thorn in my side and that the White Dwarf that I once knew, loved and was sad if I missed an issue. Will continue to be a ridiculously priced advertisement.

Worst?
Hmmm. Hard to call, but the space wolf special characters were pretty goofy.

Best GW plastic miniature?
Probably the Screaming Bell/Plague Censer, but there is some stiff competition.

Worst?
Hmmm. Space Wolves. Didn't like them as much as the others.

Best metal miniature by another company?
Mulg the Ancient, by far.

Worst?
Gonna go with Trollkin Runeshapers, because the proportions are so badly out of whack. Quality control PP! You can learn from GW!

Best plastic miniature by another company?
Hmmm. Were the Celts from warlord this year? I liked them.

Worst?
D'n'D minis. All of them.

Best GW rule book?
Lizardmen is pretty good, as is Warriors of Chaos.

Boston

Best GW metal miniature:
The IG advisors. (Full of character.)

Worst:
Canis. (Anatomically ridiculous, even by GW standards. And just plain fuggly.)

Best GW plastic:
Space Hulk minis. (Superb quality, character.)

Worst:
battlescape terrain. )Substandard quality.)

Best non-GW metal:
Pig Iron heads. (Reasonable quality and character, filling a gap GW leaves open.)

Best GW rulebook:
IG Codex. (Particularly for the Orders capability. Makes the army very characterful, distinctive -- yet very playable within the existing rules platform.)

Worst:
Planetstrike. (Half-baked, and basically broken.)

Fondest hope:
A return to quality for White Dwarf. (I really miss that magazine. Currently not worth buying.)

Biggest fear:
Economic pressures will continue to batter FLGS's, driving more out of business. While GW continues to ignore New England and starve its community building efforts. Hobby and game slide into obscurity.
