Ok so my origional wolves blog was a desaster because my camera broke and my wifi messed up so i decided im gonna clean the slate here. I'll add the background stuff tomorrow because i dont have time. But i took pictures of my army so far ( around 1000 points or so ) and i'll post them in an hour or so, ok sooo yea not much to say untill then bye!

Veteran Squad pictures continued and my veteran lasgun upgrades

The one officer holding the chainsword up high looks like he might be falling backwards, but other than a few silly poses it looks like your army is off to a good start.

Seconded, and your Sentinel looks a little wonky. "Extended mag" seems silly as lasguns don't fire bolter shells. Some general pointers:

-Be careful! All of your colours are splattering into each other. Work slower and make sure paint doesn't go where it shouldn't. If you're trying to paint everything with one size brush, then you need to grab a smaller one for detail work.
-Use glue wisely! I can tell my how much of it is slathered on some of your models that you're applying it haphazardly. A little super glue applied with a toothpick will go a long way, and all those fumes from a sloppy glue job can't be good for you!
-Take that extra time to finish up your models before you paint, and minimize that time by prepping more thoroughly. The Chimera turret , for example, shows a ragged spot where you probably just twisted the part off the sprue(use clippers!) and the commanders' cupola is crooked. Many of your models still show mold lines(cut or file these off!), and in some cases such the Guardsmen whose lasgun has been shortened, one can see when things have been brutally cut or clipped. If you're going to remove or replace something, make sure to clean up your work so the conversion looks smooth and deliberate.
-Drill out barrels. It's amazing how much more convincing a gun will be when it ends in a barrel bullets could come out of instead of a solid block of metal.
-Get some washes or learn to dip. If you're not going to bother with blending and highlights then washes or dipping are both easy compromises that vastly improve your models with little effort.


Overall, take more time with each model; take some pride in your work! Nobody is inherently a "bad" painter. With a little effort and the willingness to familiarize yourself with new tools and techniques, you too can have a fantastic army.

Yea thanks and most of those are WIPs i keep trying to order washes from my gaming store but they are never in stock so im just going to get them at the gw site. And also yes the only reason you see alot of mold lines is because i just had to quickly put them together for a torny and i will but getting them off. i also completley plan on doing the drilling the barells. What do you think would be good to drill them in with?

Still, you need to watch that paint splatter. It'll really kill your minis.

My favorite is the sentinel driver seated on the Russ who appears to be injecting something into his leg (the look on his face is priceless).
Also, your vets have some potential. IMPORTANT: Don't forget to spray them with a basecoat of black primer first! I looks like you skipped this step on a lot of your first models
One other suggestion I have that will greatly improve your models with one easy step is to find a brown ink wash and use it on your models. I think that it would look good on them and provide some much needed shading that will give the models depth and make them feel more real.

Owain is correct though, what I would suggest is to water down your paint some of looks too thick and if you water it down and apply a few thing coats it would look nice and smooth
The camo pattern would look good but again water down your paints and then paint the camo on letting each layer dry before painting on the next color
Drilling out the gun barrels can look really nice to with little effort. I was lucky and got the mega tool kit from GW and in it, it has a push drill and it works wonders when I was drilling out the barrels of my bolt guns for my Dark Angels. I was sooo pleased I even drilled out the plasma pistol ^_^ you don't need to go out and get this huge set just for one tool all you need is a small enough drill bit and it will work just fine

Try to apply these things in your WIP's and then take sum pics in sure that the differences will me remarkable with just the little differences

Yep so today since i dont have my detail brushes or the paints i need i just basecoted the platoon command squad ( the one that was semi painted ) and a few of the vets and a bodyguard. Tomorrow morning is a 1250pts doubles tourniment so i hope i do as well with them as i did in my last 2 games, oh yea my last game i blew up a valkrie with my command squad, just after it blew up my sentinel, the Russ, and the chimera i was sooooooo happy because if i didnt blow that up i probibly would have lost. But they werent the only ones that saved me, in both games the tide changer was the missile launcher! Though when a Vindicator blows up its own squad with an emps. champion in it it saved me alot of work since it did take the entire game of misslie launcher, sentinel, heavybolter, grenade launcher, and plasma gun ( which is alot! ) to take out his Chaplen. I never thought those guys would be so hard to kill !!! ok i'll try to get pics up of tomorrows torniment up ok see ya later!

I don't believe that you can give any of the infantry platoon or platoon command squads carapace armor, unless I'm missing something. I suggest checking your codex again.

It seems that you have invested a lot of points into your leman russ, which can be risky if the enemy has decent anti-tank. I'd suggest removing the hunter killer missile (ten points for a one shot weapon isn't worth it and you can only have one).

Also, make sure that each platoon squad has no more than a single special weapon and no more than a single heavy weapon.

If you are going to run shotgun vets I'd suggest taking Harker (he will give you better cover saves, but prevent you from taking carapace. In my experience, however, cover saves are far better to be relied upon because they can be modified by going to ground(+1) and there are a lot more AP4 than weapons that deny cover. Cover shouldn't be too hard to find in this game, but then again, a mobile unit such as yours might find itself out in the open a lot). Also, taking Harker will allow you to infiltrate OR outflank AND he can move and shoot his heavy bolter. Those are just some ideas that may or may not work for your army. Ultimately it depends on how you, as a general, make the units in your army work together.

Don't be afraid to let me know if I've overlooked something about a part of your army or if there is something I have not explained clearly enough.

Ok so i did add another 3 squads for the tourniment today and we played two games. Me and a nid player won 2nd overall yaaaaay!!! we played two games in which for all that i rolled a scatter dice i got direct hit ALL BUT 4 TIMES!!!!! my men did unbeliveably amazing even when getting assulted by nids and marines. first game was annialation vs marines. we lost 5 to 7 but we were wining 5 to 3 but in the last round the nids assulted and the marines killed 3 squads!!!! only one of my squads died and i killed half of one of the marines army by blowing their bikes to bits. i also blew up both a drop pod and a drednout causeing damage to some genestealers. 2nd game was agianst new nids almost all where the new trigons and mawlocks but i cant belive LASGUNS KILLED A TRIGON!!!!!! It was objectives 3 and we placed 2 since i won the roll but it was tied untill the last round when the termagaunts, or hermagaunts i forget won an assult killing the guys next to the objective so we won in that final battle!!!! Over all the guards did 100% better against these assult armys than i thought YAY EMPORER, well not really cause we sorta said i was genestealer spawns or something like that i dont know what they are called when a genestealer takes over a person but we thought that would make sence since the guards and nids were working together. My painting wise i ordered a lot of washes and paints, paintbrushes, and that drill gws sells soon im going to get a nice lovely tank, my minds drawing blank on the name but its the one with the plasma cannon. When i can get painting done i'll post up pics, reeally thinking of re-doing the good general, to sort of being more menicing but not at the moment and i think i want to stop the cadian paint scheme and go more with the woodland camo thing since most of the guys who were painted are now black, i have 3 extra models to test schemes on so im going to take advanege of that.. ok well thats it for now seeeee ya

I took those cut up lasguns and turned them into shotguns using a servo-skull and some craft foam. i'll post up picks when my sister gets home with the camera.

Ok so im going to take pics of the shotguns and I'll post them on in a few minutes, oh and i ordered some green stuff with the paints, cause you'll never know when it will be handy

Oh and i added that to the title since i think no one will look at my blog cause of the bad paint job, im the same way, but i am scraping those making a new command squad and am PAINTING them not in cadian style and with washes. so I'll get them done when the washes come in the mail, oh and dont worry about the title thing i just said because i just cut it out along with the bad pictures
