Because I desire attention/input on my slowly but steadily growing horde of Necrons (and also so I can be cool like everyone else), I decided to start a P&M blog. Here I will post pictures of my army so far (and add more as I add more models) and will probably also discuss tactics (since I am still a n00b, Necron veterans are encouraged to offer insights) Anyway, without further ado, let's get this show on the road.

FYI, I've had this army for a while, which is why so many pics are being frontloaded into the first few posts. Just showing what I have so far.

Double posting for great justice. Here's a pic of mah Necron Warriors. Because originality is for people who can afford more paint, I painted my Warriors the traditional uninspired metallic silver color. Yay laziness!

Looks like your paint is a bit thick. Do you water it down? Seriously the best painting trick in the book, is watering your paints down on some type of tray. Its great. And they almost look chrome hmm.......

nah I don't water it down any. How much water should I use for future reference? And yeah I used Mithril Silver paint, which made them look chrome, almost Terminator-like. Being a fan of Terminator robots, I saw this as a good thing

Continuing my epic adventure of blatant double posting and thick paint and other shenanigans, it is now time to show off Mr. Necron Lord. Also, I have decided that Necron Lords are epic pimps. Just look, Pimp Cane, Pimp Cape, Pimp Gold Bling! On a more serious note, I tried to make the Lord stand out from his shiny minions by giving him a different, more ornate paint scheme. Also, I painted the gaps in his ribcage to make it look like he was GLOWING WITH INTERNAL POWER

As you've gone the route of painting them metalic rather than dry brushing I would suggest a heavy black wash would really bring out the details. I think it would really improve the model.

Also as KingCracker said water down the paints or put less on your brush. If your painting silver over black you can usually put less paint on your brush than normal.

yeah what I started doing more recently was giving them all a black basecoat, then painting them silver with less paint on the brush to leave their recesses dark. Also on the Immortals it makes them look more weathered and old.

Speaking of Immortals...
I gave them black pauldrons with gold trim and gold spines to sort of link them to both the Warriors and the Necron Lord. What I was thinking was that in my army, the more ornate the model, the more important it is in terms of heirarchy. This is why the Necron Lord is covered in gold bling.

OH SNAP TRIPLE POST! I'm pretty sure that's heresy, but WHATEVER. Necrons do not care about heresy. Anyway, this post will be about Destroyers, which are also pretty ornate with all their gold trim and gold decals that barely show up against their overly shiny bodies.

Nice Necrons, I own some of them myself. My advice would be to water the mythril silver down just a bit and have less on your brush while you paint. Not every surface (eg. the eye sockets) is meant to be shiny and silver.

Otherwise, good job, keep going!

Writing internet fiction is kind of like throwing out messages in bottles into a churning sea composed entirely of messages in bottles, the chances of of your message getting noticed and someone being sent out to rescue you is punishingly slim. But every once in a blue moon, someone who owns a big boat made of money finds your message and agrees to let you ride on his big boat made of money as long as you keep making messages for him.

Because Matt Ward didn't write our Codex. Otherwise we would have had Scything Tyrants with Scything Nidfists that can re-roll re-rolls and that can have a bodyguard of 10 Scything Guards and a Scything Prime that could ride in a Scything Pod. Or something to that effect.

Thanks man! BTW, not all my Necron Warriors have that thick a paint job, I started using less paint after I finished the first few models up. I just photographed those two because I liked the poses they were in. For the most part, the rest of them have darker recessed areas.

Not a problem I'd love to see more. Might post my own in a different P&M blog thread - I've been meaning to, and you've inspired me.

You've got a lot of nice poses in there. Is it easy to change, or do they come with just a few poses and you have changed them a bit?
I'm seeing some mold lines but otherwise, the paint job looks good.

Thanks, the Warriors are fairly poseable, sometime you may have to bend/snap an elbow or two, but otherwise its pretty easy to pose them. And yeah, at somepoint I need to do something about those mold lines.

Alrighty, postin MOAR PICS. Figured I'd show the transfers I put on my Lord's pauldrons (did the same with the Immortals and Destroyers) Trust me, those things were a PAIN IN THE to put on. Never wanted to stay down. Had to put a dot of glue under them to prevent them from peeling off. Also, Scarabs (BEEEEEES)

Well guys, that's about all you're going to see for a while. Aside from another Heavy Destroyer I ordered the other day, expect a hiatus for the several weeks. For one thing, I recently spent 640$ on a new rifle (see below), so I'm about out of funds until payday, then on top of that, the Air Force is sending me on a two week TDY next month, so I won't be around for any 40K work. Will probably get some stuff when I get home tho (after I get some surplus 7x62.54R for my rifle tho, ammo takes priority ) I was thinking of getting the Necron battleforce. 28 more Warriors, 7 more Scarab Swarms, and 3 more Destroyers, and on Amazon its only about 60$. Any other suggestions? Thanks guys, take it easy

Good god man why why why would you get that. If you wanted a solid rifle that is and "assualt weapon" you should have gone wtih a chinies made SKS. Yes it may have a shorter clip but the acuracy makes it a great piece with a well balanced barrel. That one is decent but I personally would have gone for a M4 with the free floating barrel. Eleminates a lot of the jerks of the rifle on the squeeze.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Well I already have two "assault weapons" an AK47 and a customized Ruger mini 14. I wanted a PSL because 1) Draguov style FTW, and 2) much more accurate at range than my other two. Also its a hell of a lot less expensive than an AR15. And yeah SKS is nice, but i wanted something with some more reach to it.

I was thinking, any fluff suggestions for my army? I know Necrons don't really make for fluffy armies (there are only so many variations of "wake up, kill everyone, repeat"). I was thinking they would be from a dead world called Acheron, and that they follow the Nightbringer (because the Deciever is a dick with all his JUST AS PLANNED). Otherwise, not much else. Anyone else have suggestions?

So I wound up getting a Monolith before I left for my TDY, no pics sadly :( Its black with gold trim all around the panel lines, which is a WHORE to do properly but looks great. Also, the other day I ordered the Necron Battleforce, so between that and the Monolith I should have plenty to keep me busy once I get home.

ALSO: Seriously guys it's like I'm talking to myself here! NEEDS MOAR COMMENTS!!!!

Hey everyone, sorry for the hiatus there, I was TDY and away from my 40k for a while, but, now that I'm home I have some interesting new stuff to show off (including the beginnings of my new Eldar army )

First off, my Monolith WIP

And now for the beginnings of the Revenants of Khaine Corsair Fleet!

Dire Avengers WIP

Guardian Squad WIP

And last but not least my War Walker

Thanks! The Walker is actually supposed to look like that, I'm going for a mottled camo look, and I still haven't finished touching it up yet. There will be a new pic once its totally finished. Monolith is just about there too, just gotta touch up a few more areas and add the green rods to the sides and it will be ready to go. I'll need it FMC for when I go to get revenge on the Iron Warriors who thrashed me the other night

P.S. Come on Dakka, over 900 views and only a handful of comments? I want to know what you guys think!

Okay, I know its been a while since my last post, but now it's time for a giant image dump

First thing, BEHOLD THE COMPLETED MONOLITH

And a minor converson I did on a Necron Warrior to make it look like it was aiming its gun instead of shooting from the hip

And now for Eldar

The now completed War Walker

And some Guardians with a Brightlance

3 Dire Avengers Exarchs with different wargear loadouts

Dire Avengers

Wraithlord WIP

Striking Scorpions (rest of the squad is still WIP)

Wave Serpent and Vyper

The Vyper could have turned out better IMHO, mostly because of all the times I had to repaint it while trying to find a good color scheme (the mottled green camo did not work on the larger vehicles)

That's all for now, guys. Sooner or later (probably later because I am lazy), expect to see Fire Dragons, a Falcon, and my Farseer and Warlocks

BTW, PLEASE COMMENT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

I think your necrons could use some washes, try badab black and devlan mud on the metallics and thraka green on the greens. You'll be amased by the effects it got dude!
Your eldar look sweet also, keep it up.

Thanks, I did actually start washing the Necrons with Badab black and so far I'm pretty impressed. No Thraka green yet tho. Thanks for the tip
