Worked on both of these models in January, took some time off from my orks to finish them for the painting comp over at the B and C - which I was absolutely slaughtered at, there was so much good work done there!

Argentius I plan on using as Pedro Kantor, ruleswise, or as a generic Chapter Master with relic blade and storm bolter.

Thoughts? Comments? Critiques?

The pose of your dread is magnificent, really dynamic, really threatening. The battle damage is also very convincing

They look very creepy , far creepier than any Chaos army which is very good.

The skull on the dred sarcophagus reminds me of a Gray ( even scarier! )

Damn. The chapter master looks good. But the dreadnought is awesome. The details and pose is just sweet.

Note: There is i think in looking at this Chapter master that makes me think that somethings wrong. Don't exactly know what it is though.

Great conversions on both models - you make them look seamless. Add on top of that superb paint jobs and you've really got some models to be proud of. I love the freehand work on the Chapter Master's cloak - beautiful stuff.

These are AWESOME. Love the poses of both of them. Never heard of the chapter, but I'm loving the scheme.

Thanks for your comments all.

Million - thanks, the pose conversion was originally figured out by the great Barpharanges, I think. I just followed his pattern. I plan on doing this kind of pose with the upcoming plastic Venerable Dread.

Luna - they look creepier than Chaos? Wow, not sure how I pulled that off...

DBM - thanks, those little skulls on the cloak were a pain. I gotta do something about the chapter icon and make decals or something because I dread painting any more of those icons like on the dread's arm... Shudder...

Ultra - yeah, he was the basis for the chapter master, surprised that no one picked it out right away! The model just screamed Silver Skulls to me when I saw it.

Dark Angels - never heard of the Silver Skulls? They've been hinted at in the GW marine rulebooks and the main rulebook. They're actually one of the 12 original Space Marine chapters from back in Rogue Trader days. It was actually down to a choice between these guys and the Crimson Fists, since they are from the RT days as well, but the Skulls won out in the end.

The Dreadnought is fantastic.

I'm not as excited by the Chapter Master, but it's a solid conversion and paintjob. Love the axe head. Unusual but very effective.

Nope, but they look great! Thanks for the little piece of info. The Chapter Master seems to fit perfectly, at least for the chapter name!

One note about using Pedros rules for that chapter master. Pedro has a power fist and this guy has a relic blade (i think relics still hit at normal initiative). Technically if you point him as Pedro he will have to hit at I 1.

Fantastic work!

I really like the Chapter Master too, as it shows what can be done with the excellent Legion of the Damned sergeant model.

Well done!

Great use of the sarg. I don't think LotD when I see him, which is a grand accomplishment considering the characterful nature of the original sculpt.
The dread is beautifully painted. I'm not a huge fan of the head on him, but it is exceptionally well done.
Inspired work, brother.

Death G - thanks!

Insaniak - thank you. The dread was more fun to paint as well, actually. The axe head was pretty simple to do - the LotD sergeant's axe is very much like the plastic power axe from the assault marine sprue - i think - so I just doubled it up and extended the haft to make it look like a 2-handed weapon and not a single handed one.

Nicorex - the plan was actually on a CD that Barph sold as part of a digital modelling magazine, so I think you can get it from there. I wouldn't feel right reposting his technique here without getting permission from him to do so. It's possible without the plans, just fiddly and takes a little forethought.

jester - thanks!

Praxiss - you're absolutely right that if used as Kantor then he'd be at I1, but for Kantor's special rules and such I will take that small issue. I didn't want to use an actual power fist because that weapon, to me, doesn't really go with the theme of the Silver Skulls, who are reputed to be headhunters. A power fist would be more likely to crush the skulls than to take them! For the chapter master it made sense, but other sergeants and such will get power fists as normal if they are armed with them.

Alpharius - thanks! I really liked the model and it just seemed a great fit for this character.

prime - sorry you don't like the head, I rather did, obviously. Made sense for a Silver Skulls dread.

cadian - thanks!
