Well I've been a long time lurker and decided today to create this. Maybe it will get me to get off my lazy but and finish painting it.

As it stands now I have:
One card-board kilkrusha
Three Battle-wagons
Three trukks
Three dreads (looted beakie ones i sometime turn the red one into a big mek in mega armour)
One wip looted rhino
One looted WWII panzer
Three warbikers
One Wazzdakka Gutsmek
Four terminator armour mega nobs
and a partridge in a pear tree

Can we get some shots of the cardboard killkrusha and looted bits? The look cool from this far away, but I want to see some details.

Some stuff looks really nice, but the cereal box coversions won't cut it, both in terms of look, accepting paint, durability... the whole works.

You are obviously capable, why not use plasticard or at least foam board? You can order some from towerhobbies.com, and trust me, you will be much happier with the results, and with the longevity.

Either way, that's an impressive size army, and apart from the cardboard stuff, I think it looks good!

I like the panzer myself and have to argue with Major Tom on Cardstock conversions while you have to use 2 or maybe 3 brush acrylic undercoats it excepts paint fine. Theirs a bizarre snobbery about using plasticard not card and while plasticard is more durable and accepts paint better card folds and is cheaper. I use cereal card regularly in basing and scenery and it has advantages it won't snap for a start. However having said that both models look rather toylike and it doesn't hurt to avoid that with 40k painting is an exceptional method to do just that.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Ive never been a fan of the cardboard modeling, unless its a template. It never really looks quite like you want it to in the end thats IMO though. Great job on everything, just the plasticard usually makes for a better look in the end.

I think using cardstock is fine. It may take a few more layers of paint, but if you're willing to do the leg work to make it look the way you want then it works all the same.

The kanz look good. The flash is washing them out, though. I think the fighta-bomba is coming along nicely and that Battle Wagon looks right proppa! Now get some paint on it.

At the risk of sounding like a parrot, the cardboard moddeling really, really, really doesn't strike someone as craftsmanship where you look like you have real potental. With a quick replacement of that cardboard for plastic card, your models would look spectacular! Even though the look amazing already.

The plasticard would look cleaner from the get go. But I think you can get very close to the same quality with card, too.

Also I think card is great for practicing and making patterns. A more substantial material will (almost?) always come off more professional. That being said, they're just stand-ins until the plastic/metal models arrive, right pandaman?

So I say, keep up the good work!

You should totally paint "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" back on the side of the krawla when you paint it.

I'm not sure on an emblem but since this is such a big vehicle you should put plenty of grafiti on it like : humies stink, and some such.

It has been varified by John Hurt that the Ultramarines are indeed the greatest space marine chapter.

Really the only problem Im having with these conversions, is the cardboard. It looks terribly unfinished. I agree with the above you some foam or plasticard instead. ITll look so much better. I can see what your going for, but your loosing it with the rough cardboard.

The rest of the army is looking pretty good though, keep it up.

never use blue foam in converting it will be ruined when primed(melted)
use plasticard
i dont know what you're experience with it is but use a ruler and sharp knife to score the shape you want and then snap it out-it gives good clean cuts(score about halfway through or you might het some thin bits ripped of the other parts.
1mm-2mm-use for basic structure and the body etc
anything under that would be for deatail.

hope this helps

Sorry about lack of updates i got a chaos army commision and have been busy with that in the mean time some fluff!

Before his ascension to supreme ruler of the Goliath system, warboss Bolt Mek Gitkruncha was not given much respect from the other orks in his Deffskull tribe. For some unknown reason Gitkruncha was reasonably nice (as nice as a lumbering 8 foot monster could be). He didn’t have the same knack for thievery that most Deffskulls have from an early age. Occasionally he would steal a shoota or a couple of teef from an unsuspecting ork but after realizing what he had done he would return the stolen item to its owner muttering apologizes. The confronted ork would usually be too shocked to give Gitkruncha a hearty whack like one they would give a quick fingered grot. Gitkruncha was never known to fight unless he was provoked by the other orks in his tribe. They would taunt him or poke him until he would swing around and crush one with the business end of his choppa. Despite his orkish attitude towards his peers Gitkruncha had an affinity for the smaller greenskins known as grots. He was known to carry them around on his shoulders as they shouted insults to the orks who had abused them all their lives. It got to the point where the elders in Gitkruncha’s tribe banished him to the ash wastes to the east of the village and his grots, not wanting to leave their protective owner followed.
To Be Continued…

I'll probably have some pictures up later tonight of progress.

Thanks for the comments guys really constructive, any way more fluff for the readers.

The walk through the ash wastes was a long and arduous journey with few streams for water and even less in the way of food. After a week of walking the first grot fainted. The next day three more followed. The following week there wasn’t a conscious grot within miles, But Gitkruncha forged on with the grots hanging over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He walked like that for two hours before he came to an abandoned settlement of some sort. smashing through the rockrete gate like nothing was there he set off in search of water. Upon coming to what happened to be a restaurant (though he had no idea at the time) he laid all the grots on the floor mouths agape. He then used a hose used for spraying carbonated water and shot sharp blasts of water into each of the grots mouths. They immediately came to blubbering furiously, half drowned but alive. The next day after raiding the cabinets and back rooms for food the grots and Gitkruncha set off to explore the strange settlement. It was there they discovered they discovered a quick way to rise to power and where Gitkruncha discovered his mekish talents.
