Hello, and thank you for reading all this and looking at my pictures.

This project had begun with a combination of several factors, but don't they all. I needed a break from painting Iron Warriors, and I had several tactical squads from Battle for McCragg as well as the tac squad and termi squad from Black Reach. I've been playing chaos since '95, and have always been slightly jealous of my imperial counterparts' access to all the technological goodies of the 41st millennium. With the new Imperial Space Marine codex having even more goodies, the time was right to jump on the bandwagon. BUt if you knew me, you would know that i could never truly be good, so i decided to use the codex to represent Huron Blackheart's renegade pirate force. As Huron went traitor well after the Heresy, I felt that the Imperial Space Marine codex would better represent his more modern force.
ok, enought chitchat for today, time for some pics!

I would love to you do a whole battle force of lamenters, havn't seen that yet.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Lamenters
I just thought they would be alittle more yellow, also you're missing the red stripe on their helmet and it's supposed to be a a checkerd right shoulder pad

And if you're gonna do the mantis warriors, that would be awesome to, cause I love that chapter. You should check out Gitspittas blog for some inspiration http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/289929.page

Thanks for all the comments folks. I know about the lamenters shoulder pads, but I have chosen to move their chapter badge from their right to the left. This is more inline with current codex of chapter badges on left and squad markings on right. The white is there cause I'm getting ready to do the black checks next. As you might be able to see, I've added red "X"s over the eagles on the Mantis Wariors, which I wil repeat on all of my squards when they're done. Hopefully I can get some more painting done this Wednesday. Here's some more picks for your enjoyment.

These are my sniper scouts. I haven't chosen what chapter they will be yet, but that's ok, as any good sniper will be in camo! I'm also experimenting with adding static grass to their camo cloaks. I think that I'll leave the grass as is for the light colored camo, but will use the painted grass look if I do a darker night or urban camo for a second squad.

Why the red cross on the mantis warriors? Is it cause they temporarly joind Huron? Oh, and have you thought of making the Red corsairs in their orginal colour as the astral/tiger claws?

Things have been slow going with this army lately both because i tend to paint less in the summer and also I have been working on a Blood Bowl team for the local league.

Today I had a game with them and I would have to say that my assault scouts with their land speeder storm are again my star players. All three tac squads were wiped out to a man. My sterngaurd underperformed, but I think I just used them improperly. Their transport of a twin assault cannon razorback had more of an impact than they did. In the end I just couldn't secure a victory, but it was an amazing game with a gentleman of an opponent.

I've applied the same camo scheme from the snipers scout to my unit of close combat scouts. They're not finished yet, but at least its progress. Here's their ride too.

Great work overall, just one thing I don't like though is the static grass on the camo cloaks of the snipers, Id rather it was painted - cool camo on the BP and CCW scouts though !

The heavy flamer on my stearnguard "space wolves" is from the legion of the damned with some filing and putty work, as well as pinning. Here's some more shots of them.

As a tip: you can also easily modify the heavy flamer from the space marine terminators to fit exactly like that. (I have done that to one of my own marines )

My first list for this army involved 3 razorbacks. I wasn't happy with the stock model thought, and deiced to do so conversion to make it look more like a Bradly IFV. I wanted to move the turret out of the crew compartment, make the turret more substantial given that it housed twin lascannon or assault cannon (the exact same weapon as a predator!), make it look like only one driver compartment, right next to the engine. Ans this is the end result. Ironicaly, it was my decesion to use the predator turret as stock and also lead me to have to make a modified predator also.

here we can see that I cut the vents/hatch portion off of the turret ring. I then shaved down the top of the rhino and placed the turret ring in the fron right (left if your facing it) crew hatch. The drivers hatch i left intact.

I also cut the blast deflector/visor in half in the middle, and puttied up the open slit, that would be where the enging and turret would be, no room for a crew on that side!

I was originally going to leave the small acces hatch on the top with the thin card filling up the empy space, but after some experimentation went with this:

And here are the turrets. The twin las one is stock, but the twin assault cannon is the twin las one with assault cannons from the landspeeder box.

Sadly, after some play testing, I will only be using one razorback, and with the twin linked heavy bolters. I don't have a modified predator turret for the heavy bolters yet, but I will. I will!

I did glue an Imperial eagle (to be defiled later) over where the vision slit was and also the tow calble. I do, however, regret gluing the tow cable down before painting, a mistake I will not repeat on the second one.

Because of my use of the predator turrets on my razorbacks, many people thought that they would be mistaken for predators. This meant that I had to make a predator that was even bigger and badder that my razorbacks. Let more conversin begin! The pred is AV 13, 2 higher in the front than a rhino/razor, and no crew compartment. It is also supposed to be a Main Battle Tank, although it is clearly underpowered, and I won't actually be using one. This was just for fun and practice.

Sorry that this is not a step-by-step, as my photo both is not up permanently and about half the conversions and all of my painting get done at the local GW (NYC). You should come out and check it out LIVE. The group environment breeds creativity, and my work pales in comparison with some (Scott).

You wouldn't mount the enginges/exauhst on the side of an MBT would you? NO! Of course you wouldn't. Oi, that's gonna be some puty work though. The turret ring was moved forewards and the entire front re-done with plasticard.

Somewhere under all the plastic is the original predator turret. I needed to distinguish from my razorbacks so I used the two sponson lascannons for the twin linked turret weapon. I also added the gunner/s (loaders?) hatch.

Here you can see that I've begun some of the putty work. Unfortunately this project is on hold so that I can get some more painting done of the stuff that I'm actually going to use.

Eventually when the back (door) is completely smooth, I will be adding exhaust and an engine access hatch.
