I think the much smaller first issue was well worth the (tiny) price of £1

so the bigger (and better formatted) issue 2 is even better

A new French company, blockhaus82 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blockhaus82/442132109188578?fref=ts), are releasing a new post-apocalyptic horror game called "Kolaps: Ground Zero" (K:GZ). K:GZ is a skirmish miniature game featuring warriors of the future fighting for the future survival of the Earth. As part of the game they have produced some exquisite miniatures, these are 40mm true-scale so no massive heads and hands, well almost, and 40mm is the future of gaming, trust me!

The concepts are original with the sculpts having been very nicely done with lots of fine detail. The miniatures themselves are in light grey polyurethane resin and are superbly cast, hardly a mould line in sight.

Blockhaus82 have produced ten miniatures to start the ball rolling and guess what, we have a full set to give away. That’s a prize worth €114 (close to £100). All you have to do is send your answers for the following questions to contest@figurepaintermagazine.co.uk

Question 1: What are the names of the three factions in Kolaps: Ground Zero?

Question 2: From FPM issue one, what was the surprise component used as a base for the Dark Carnival Diorama?

Question 3: What rank is Ivan Boronov?

Question 4: How many separate flesh tones does Barry Ford initially mix for painting Selena?

Please also include your full name and postal address. The contest ends at midnight (UK time) on 14th July 2013 when one winner will be chosen at random from those that answered the questions correctly. The winner will then be contacted via email and announced in the July issue of FPM.

Just downloaded both issues, #2 seems much better than #1. After a glance over, I would like to see more articles about painting; specific techniques, step-by-step tutorials, etc.

It seems like the content may evolve as more feedback is given so that's my contribution.

So far I have been happy with both issue #1 and issue #2. Surprisingly enough, some of us Dakkanites made issue #2 in the letters section. I saw my criticism posted and discussed. While I still think a limitation on digital product access is unnecessary, I understand limitations placed by software you never developed. Great job on communicating the issue though and the fact that you have increased our access up to 5 downloads.

Thanks again for making such a great product.

-1 credibility there. Please don't do the overboard fanboi thing to anyone who gives you a touch of sponsorship. Saying that you think they're great sculpts is one thing, "future of gaming" just hurts your credibility.

Any chance these will be available via iPad Magazine subscription?

Sorry no I can't see that happening. Apple want too much money and I want it to stay at £1 per issue.

Yeah,
You can always add apple cost onto the £1 and point that out in he description.

I think it's pretty important to keep it at £1 per issue. It is cheap enough for people not to bother pirating it, Why would you? It's only a measly quid and not worth the effort! Also by buying it, even though it's only a quid, gives it an intrinsic value not only to us but to the readers. When I used to do Portal we hardly ever got one feedback comments. Now, because people have paid for it they are more inclined to comment and we get useful feedback.

Same. Whenever I hear of a game in any scale other than 28mm, all I can think of is that fact that the unusual scale will hurt sales as the figures won't be compatible with other game systems...Not that there's anything wrong with 40mm. But the future of gaming? Gimme a break.

You and Azazelx are undoubtedly correct and I'll admit it was a shameless bit of marketing spin but that's my job. I got offered these miniatures and didn't know what to do with them at first so I ran this little comp and it's done a lot more than I first thought it would. I must also say that I didn't put any spin on the quality of the miniatures though, they are really good.

I'd love to see some more tutorials in the next few issues, mostly on either super hard techniques like OSS and NMM, or oddball techniques that are less known.

I do like the product reviews, and the showcase is quite nice. I also like that the product reviews and ads have hotlinks to the relevant sites.

took a minor risk and bought issue 4 today - and I quite liked it. Saw some miniatures I hadn't seen before which was a nice surprise, and some of the interviews were interesting too. Bought it more for the tutorials, and there weren't many, but for a pound still worth it - worth it alone for the Greenskin tutorial to be honest, as there were some tips in there that I would never have figured out on my own.

Needless to say, much better and far more relevant than White Dwarf. Will be going back to buy issue 2 and 3 (is it correct that there were no tutorials in issue 1?).

Hey finnan, just checked my FPM 1 magazine. There's a tutorial there, but it's in a different style from the new ones. It's a step-by-step how Sean Fulton made his Gold winning Diorama base "Dark Carnival".

Spoilered image because it's big:
Spoiler:

The other article called "tutorial" is the start of the Malifaux table.

Just got issue 4, you guys are definitely getting better! I personally would like to see some step by step painting guides but you are close to a good balance of content.

Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I second the request for more step-by-step articles! The one on painting the NMM Barbarian's axehead was excellent and made me want more of the same caliber.

Issue 6 of this has just become available to download

https://www.facebook.com/FigurePainterMagazine
http://www.figurepaintermagazine.co.uk

it looks interesting once again, but this issue is pretty heavily weighted towards larger scale stuff than 28-35mm so those who only want to read about wargaming sized stuff may feel a little short changed there is something here for us, just not too much)

Not a problem for a single issue for me as it's understandable in a magazine covering such a broad topic(maybe a glut of releases, or just the submitted reviews have mostly been at larger scales),

but hopefully it will be a one off
