Very nice. you should post more of your stuff in a gallery so we can view the cool stuf your doing or did! Very Impressive.

I will get to it, but as I am a newb to Dakka, I'm still getting up to speed & my Space Marines are a WIP.
I also need to get some better pics & get my finger out as I have 10 tanks/flyers to build & paint.....
Way too easy buying online.

I have a sizeable Tau force, but comparing the paint standard on them v my Marines, I'm thinking I may have to dig them out & make some improvements.

Never silly. I start with a White primer, add a drop of black to get a lt grey ( very light .. like 4:1). then to this grey I add several drops of off white. Spraying on the raised seems and flt panels. I finish off with pure Off white. I should highlight in pure white but I think its already very bright as it is.

Hope that helps... oh and I'm using an air brush, so it's easy to go back and fit something.

I've been looking for a way to do a white sanguine for a while now, but I've had heaps of trouble finding a neutral white that I can shade whilst making it still look realistic (instead of having dark grey in the recesses) so this yells a lot.

Hey man I like the scheme for this and your xv8's above.
I noticed you mentioned you are new here so you should post a thread in the painting and modeling section of all your Tau stuff
You will get some more advice from people there since this is someone elses Eldar thread so we dont want to get overloaded with other stuff.
You do have nice paint skills tho!

It's all a WIP. There are som great painters on Dakka, so you can get great advice. Most of us are tabletop painters we are getting beter by tapping all of that great advice.

Every couple of years I look back at my old stuff and say "I should repaint this" It reminds me of where I started.

This was some of my early work. pre 3rd Ed.


Anyway work continues on the Wraithknight build..

I like your old stuff. Very well done and very indicative of the period in which it was made.

The marine on the left actually won me the best painted army award at a tournament. ( a long time ago ).

He was my armies capt. with PF and Warp jump wargear ( card). He'd jump from vehicle to vehicle blowing it up and killing everyone inside. Probably the one figure I wouldn't repaint.

I'm gunna call ya on it. That's a AoBR dread, which was 5th edition. Which just means you've improved in a shorter time frame.

Allow me to clarify...The figures are that old. The dread was the first thing I painted when I got back into playing. In fact the ABoR was the first thing I brought. I pulled out my old stuff and thought paint it like the other stuff.

Little did I know the world has changed!

I have a large amount of older figures.. Remonstrant of back in the day when GW had wild paint schemes. camo and specific campaigns. See the old Badab war articles in the WD.

As for the gems I thought I’d either add a touch of green tint and gloss. Or leave them black with a high gloss.

Thanks. Future plans for now include 10 Jet bikes. 10 guardians and support battery, 5 Dire Avengers. Wraithguard, WraithLord and a Crimson Hunter.

Also Gonna fix the mold line on the Wk arms!!

Thanks Dee. Have taken a couple of weeks off for the holidays but time to move forward...

First up...
Finish the Wraithknight ( need it for a game on the 2nd ). X-mas brought me some Wraithguard and a Crimson hunter.

I need to finish the project in the works first. Jetbikes, Guardians and Support battery, 5 Avengers.

My weekend time is limited but hopefully I get some time.


FIrst Ever Dakka battle Report...

Necron and Eldar vs Marines. Big guns never tire so Heavies are scoring. Vanguard deployment. We go second. Not sure we played all the ruls correcly but at least we all made the same rule mistakes. ALso doing this from memory days later is tougher than one thinks.

What I remember was 4 tactical squads ( 1 combat squad’d) Centurions ( 2 Las/ Missile, 1 Grav+Amp) 5 man Dev’s ( 2 LS/ 1 Plas / 2 ML . Storm Raven (TL LC and MM )Scouts w ML. 3 of the 4 Tac were in Rhinos. 3 Landspeeders. HB/AC – AC/TML – AC/MM.

Scout deploy in center building. Rhino closest to us get to redeploy due to warlord trait. We bottle up behind the only cover. Wraithknight hold the objective and provides our opponent a obvious target. Our Objective is to stay as protected as possible till our turn two. Objectives are the red lines.


Their turn One

( pic from the opposite side of the table) Rhino Rush!! They pop smoke. Centurion move to get a better shot. Dev, scout and Centurions fire at wraith knight and cause three wounds!

Our Turn One

Farseer moves to shoot Rhino. I take a gamble and break cover with my Lord and wraiths. The Plan is the Farseer’s Lance pop open the Rhino allowing me to get into CC, saving me from the rapidfire bolter onslaught. Farseer Misses! ARg!!!! Wave serpent shoots at Centurions, but their 2+ save shrugs everything off! Wraithknight shoots the devastators and kills four. That helps!

Their Turn two

Everything of theirs comes in! Outflanking LS show up in my backfield. The Typhoon Launches kill 2 wraiths ( rolled two 1’s for saves ). Other LS deploys on the far table edge and targets the Wave serpent. Saves made. All the Rhinos dump their tac squads. Mass rapid fire into the Dlord. He fails only one Save and takes a wound. Lone dev LC misses Wraithknight. Commander shoots his only weapon capable of huting the Wraith knight and does nothing. Scout w ML also fails to hit. Centurions cause another Wraithknight wound! The second myside LS opens fire on the Warrior squad holding our back objective. Killing 2. Stormraven shoots at Wraithknight and fails to wound. WHEW! The far left tac squad assaults the wraiths and suffer 2 deaths.

Our Turn two.

All 3 scythes come in . Only 1 squad of Jetbikes come in. One doom lines up all the centurions and makes them disappear. The second doom lines up the hovering Stormraven and hit it and the closest Rhino destroying it. The Night Scythe finishes off the StormRaven. The Wraiths and Dlord finish all but 1 tac marine whom runs. I don’t catch. Wraithnight shoot the 10 man tac squad and kill 5 The newly arrive JB shoot at the 5 man tac squad and only kill 2. After reanimating; the 4 man warrior squad takes a HP of the LS shooting at it. The WS doesn’t cause any hits on the Landspeeder. The Wraithguard deploy and shoot the scouts in the building killing 2.

Their turn three

Far table 5 man tac squad moves and shoots the waithguard causing no damage. Far side LS shoots the them as well and kills one. The remains of a tac squad rally automatically and unload into the Wraiths along with the 2 Landspeeders and kill 2 more wraiths. Rhinos move to block warrior squad from shooting the 1 HP LS. Commander take plama pistol shot at wrathKnight causing 1 wound. ( now 1 W remaining). 3 man Tac squad kill off 2 Jet bikes. Commanders squad assaults. Only he can harm but opts for a single killing attack and misses!

Our turn three

Vipers finally appear as do the 2nd Jetbike squad. Doom scythe ( the one that killed the centurions ) moves to attack the 2 LS. With Vipers kill off both! Night scythe move and kills lone dev. And drops of 2nd warrior squad to claim objective. Other doom kills of some tac marines and far table LS. Wraithguard kill 2 more scouts. Wraithknight and full JB squad shoot into the 3 man tac squad and fail to kill them. Dlord splits off from remaining wraith and each assaults ( 1 wraith vs. 1 marine) and both marines are killed as well as the lone Wraith (I must have taken a W somewhere ) Dlord easily kills the 3 man tac squad.

Their turn four

The commander still In assault with the Wraithknight fails to cause injury and loses 2.

Our turn four
Vipers kill off lone Rhino. Dlord Kills their commander.. Game Over

VP from what I remember…
Objectives: 2 captured, 2 contested ( 1 only just) 6pts us, 0 them
First blood 1 VP for us.
Commanders 2 VP for us.
Line Breaker 1 for us 1 for them
Kill points US: 3 Rhinos, 3 Landspeeders, 3 Tac squads, Centurions, Stormraven, Dev squad. 12 VP
Kill Points Them: Wraiths 1 VP

Brutally slaughter although im not very fond of weird alliances bettewn that stuff vs marines

@Galanur: They're practicing for Adepticon where there is (in essence) no alliance matrix. So anything goes alliance-wise.

Quite true, thou if you look at the game progress . it wasn't in the original plan. there was a ton of shots trying to bring down the Wraithknight. With the amount of shots directed at him it's feasable that he shouldn't have been standing till the end. The other method is to keep him tied up as to allow your other units to work freely. The Tactical squads still have to roll a 6 to damage, but it's better than nothing. Once gone he still had LS and powerful commanders more than capable of taking out the lesser armored Eldar. and with enough shots force wounds to the Wraiths and Dlord. In fact after turn 1.5 we thought we were on the defensive and seriously in trouble. Luckly for reserves!

I've seen the Tac squad rush work and not work. Massive firepower from rapid fire bolters can overwealm even terminators. Eventually your gonna roll a 1! True it's not the Meta anymore and troops that aren't fast and can move at the last minute to contest or take objective are not as effective nor taken. IMO Marines in general are not a competitive army. Not withstanding the SR/ST list or Ravenwing list.

Still working on a good Eldar list for the team. Getting more of my force done allow me to keep playtesting new units. Incentive to paint!
