Hopefully a new head as well. I don't care for the little tiny head in the current finecast version. I replaced mine with the head from my old farsight.

It's not a Dread Pirate Roberts thing, nor is it an immortal thing. There is only one Farsight. Every time he kills an enemy with the Dawn Blade, a portion of that enemy's "life force" is transferred to Farsight, extending his lifespan. Reading the source material, he has no idea why he is so long lived, and should he learn why, he is likely to commit ritual suicide in shame.
But as to the actual suit... yes, it's a modified XV8. I don't see any real fluff reason why they couldn't upgrade the suit. The Farsight Enclaves are being supplied with new equipment on the down low by sympathetic loyalists. Here you go...
"Earth Caste Engineer Jonn'I Brav'O has a secret respect for Farsight after his third cousin, twice removed was given a Honour Shas'Vre position and appointed to Farsight's Bodyguard unit. After one too many negative performance reviews from his units efficiency experts, Bob'O and Bob'O, he steals a freighter loaded with XV8 Enforcer and Coldstar suits and redirects it towards Farsight's Enclaves. During the long, sub light journey, Brav'O converts one of the Enforcer Suits to be a gift to his idol."
Clean it up, add a dose of Grimdark and a mid flight warp incursion and you have a nice little blurb explaining Farsight's new look in a small box in the corner of one of rules pages.
Well, until the 6e codex dropped it was completely unknown why he was living so long. A prevailing theory at the time was the Dread Pirate Roberts thing. Now, the dawn sword basically makes him immortal.
No reason he COULDN'T upgrade, but honestly some good reasons he would choose not to. Familiarity with the model is a big one, soldiers get attached to our equipment. Another big one is that he's an icon. Without Etherial mind control the only thing holding the FSE together is good old fashioned camaraderie and charisma. They need a leader icon, and Farsights particular iconography is his modified XV-8.

There's a lot of leeway in XV8, though. Farsight's suit, in it's current setup, seems closer in size to an XV-8 enforcer than the regular crisis suit he had pre-6th ed. I think his signature is more broad than using the same suit.
-Shield with his personal emblem
-Dawn Blade
-Painted Red
In my opinion, those are the key elements of his signature look. Any suit with those elements would be recognizable as Farsight's.

So, uh, current scuttlebutt is:
Mont'ka is Nov 20, FSE 7E is Q1 2016, along with FSE Datacards in Q1.
Yes, Nov 20.
According to the previously vetted source. And if that turns out to be on the money...
If Mont'ka is that early, how much can it reveal about a supplement scheduled for Q1.

Yeay! I hope there's at least one cool new model for us and a Farsight update/rules update. I would be happy with FSE getting just that.
Also I wonder if its a repeat of the new dex/kauyon thing with the mont'ka/FSE 7e thing. FSE 7e might just be minor changes with a few new additions from mont'ka. So what's the point of releasing it at the same time it's only a minor rules update collection. Mont'ka seems like it will be the focus here much like before.

Thanks but I know. Technically the Kauyon and Tau codex books are separate but one overlaps the other. I'm wondering if the Montka will have a chapter that outlines the changes to FSE for 7th for those who already have that.

Given how Kauyon lets you run new Tau with the old codex, I could see Mont'Ka being an update for mainly Imperium with a few new Farsight things, with the FSE being a standalone codex that leaves out Tau Empire only units and formations in favor of Farsight specific stuff, a companion for the new Tau Codex.

A rumor on Faet212 possibly sheds light on this. Plastic assassins are on the way. The new book involves a plot of them to assassinate Farsight (in addition to this gigantic crusade). 3 other characters are going to be released with the assassins during this period of time.
So this lines up well with what we know.
So assassins + 3 characters. It's not clear if that's for the Imperium or for the whole release. The previous assassins rumor says assassins + 3 characters on the way before return to sigmar.

@Kanluwen: I don't have a particular problem with her killing a Chapter Master. She's the Tau's equivalent of their Ghazghkull/Eldrad/Abaddon/Swarmlord/Marneus and such since Farsight is with his Enclaves so building her up as a credible threat is fine to me. I've never had a problem with Space Marine Chapter Masters dying against non-Space Marines who are in Fluff considered to be highly dangerous warriors/strategists themselves. I'll admit it would have been preferable to me not to introduce a character 'solely to die (I would have preferred that he have more time to at least establish himself in some sense since that would make Shadowsun's triumph more meaningful as well instead of simply looking like a way to bump up a Special Character who already has a Miniature). So that doesn't bug me in of itself at all.
As for pride, I mean, yeah she is but they all were. Puretide makes the point that they're all (well maybe not Kais since we have little verified on him) incredibly proud and arrogant. Its hardly a fault unique to Shadowsun within the setting either, pride is possessed by most of the primary cast of the setting in some sense or another, so it doesn't really stand as much reason to specifically target her for humiliation or impotency within the Fluff.
@Crazyterran&Co'tor Shas: Apologies I didn't mean he died by 'lost' I was simply referring to his now being trapped in Comorragh and it being highly unlikely he'll ever escape. Or, to be honest, survive. I mean...he's good for a Tau in Melee but must surely pale before the vast majority of what passes for serious 'sport' in the minds of the Dark Eldar. That and there appears to be no fluff indicating the Tau will (or can considering they have no knowledge of the Webway) mount anything resembling a rescue and thus I consider him 'lost' as I said. But no he's not dead yet.

It's not a problem with her killing a Chapter Master, it's who the Chapter Master was. The Master of Shadows of the Raven Guard, Corvin Severax.
We're talking about the Chapter Master of the Chapter famed for its skill in guerilla warfare and stealth tactics killed by some jumped up xenos in a stealth suit.
She's the Tau's equivalent of their Ghazghkull/Eldrad/Abaddon/Swarmlord/Marneus and such since Farsight is with his Enclaves so building her up as a credible threat is fine to me.
She's been "built up as a credible threat" without killing anyone super important before, but now all of a sudden she needs to kill a Chapter Master to be a credible threat?
Bollocks.
Her and the other Tau commanders aren't a threat because they're super tricksy or they're super good at close combat. It's because they have a grasp of tactics and an understanding of their enemies.
I've never had a problem with Space Marine Chapter Masters dying against non-Space Marines who are in Fluff considered to be highly dangerous warriors/strategists themselves.
Here's the rub: That hasn't happened in quite some time. This literally just came across as a way to bump off a guy who has been name dropped before in background material so that Shrike could be 'promoted' to Chapter Master.
It would have been FAR more interesting to have had the Raven Guard shun the idea of needing a Chapter Master, seeing as how their Shadow-Captains operate on an individual basis anyways.
It bugs the hell out of me. He orchestrated a widescale campaign to hunt her down and kill her, while she does the same thing for him but instead of it showing as tactical acumen on the part of either of them--he just comes off as incompetent and it all ends with her being in a Ghostkeel( what a twist!) instead of her normal suit, and she demonstrates a huge lack of understanding of the Astartes(despite having fought them before) and an ego the size of a space station.
I mean come on. Shadowsun lays an elaborate trap to bring down someone she's referring to as a "Warrior-King", thinking it will break the Astartes?
She's fought them before. She should know by now that killing someone important doesn't break Astartes--it just makes them angry.
I really hope this second book has Farsight come back and take her head. Automatically Appended Next Post: H.B.M.C. wrote:I really do hope that GW's version of Deathwatch isn't a box of Sternguard and a box of Vanguard w/10 FineCost Deathwatch shoulder pads thrown in.
