Hi everybody, I am working on a Vraksian Renegade Militia based off of the Siege of Vraks books. I currently have a Company Command Squad, a Heavy Weapons Platoon, a Platoon Command Squad with 2 attached squads, and 2 Renegade Ogryns. Almost all of the models are assembled, many are spraypainted and I have started painting a few. Eventually I hope to add a Disciples of Xaphan Squad, a Workers Rabble, another Renegade Ogryn, a Leman Russ, an Alpha Legion Squad, and Arkos the Faithless

My Company Command Squad

The current army

Company Command Squad Apostate Preacher of Xaphan

The army again

Company Command Squad Bodyguard w/autogun

Company Command Squad Regimental Banner Bearer

So some notes about the images: Some of the models are headless because I need to purchase my Pig Iron head sprues, my 2 Ogryns are already painted I will have pictures of them shortly, and I am starting the army off by painting the Company Command.

When attaching images, it's best to add them into the gallery rather than however you have attached them as these aren't visible to anyone...

Het Cardinal, if you go to the gallery, click on 'your personal gallery' you should see an option to upload photos. When uploaded you can then link them to your posts with the 'forums ' link under the photo. That way peeps can see the pics straight away, if they're at work they can see them, and you'll probably find a lot of peeps just aren't willing to DL stuff to look at. Otherwise you may find not many comments are made Hope this helps, hope to see some pics soon.

Copy and paste the link marked 'forums' into your post.

Don't worry if people don't post too much, you gotta give them some new pics in your new posts to get 2-3 comments per update. Wait for posts and then post more.

Alright so, I have not abandoned this project I just have not posted anything due to being extremely busy and I still can't get good detailed photos of individual models. I have made alot of progress on the army, and I have a Leman Russ, a Sentinel, and a spray gun to speed things up on order. Hopefully I can get some pictures up SOMETIME. Sorry about this dakka

Alright so I finally found some time to figure out how to take good pictures, but sadly it has been raining for the past week and it is extremely dark so I cant get good lighting.. Once the mess clears up I will have ALOT of good pictures of my progress on the Renegades coming up. Also I will be changing up this blog a little (not alot) and adding a surprise .

Here is my finished Company Command squad:

More to come ASAP. I just noticed that the Enforcer that is in the squad isn't in the picture so I guess I will be taking another group shot sometime.

Here are some WIP pictures I just took:

WIP Renegade Leman Russ

WIP Renegade Sentinel

WIP Renegade Autocannon Fire Support Team

Hope you like it. More to come another day.

Looks pretty nice! I like the banner alot, and I don't go for chaos/renegades that much. You might want to pick up a natural light lamp from a big-box retailer (around $20.00) to take your pics under. It makes a huge difference and keeps the photos from having a yellow or blue tone. It's unusual that some of your pics are great and others you can barely see...

Love the priest!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Thanks! I can't really understand the picture problem either, this is my first time photographing models and wierd things keep happening...
Btw thanks for putting my blog on the front page Dakka!

Update:

WIP Militia Squad #1--I got a quick basecoat down with my spraygun The models with helmets and uniforms represent the Imperial Guard Regiment stationed on Vraks, the others are just Renegade Militia.

Militia Squad Sergeant

Militia Melta-Gunner

Militia Renegade

WIP Militia Squad #2

Militia Renegade

Militia Renegade (Nurgle follower?)

Militia Renegade

WIP Enforcer and Renegade

Time for the surprise!!

Death Korps of Krieg: (Following the 143rd Regiment color scheme mostly)

WIP Death Korps of Krieg Advancing--Nicely basecoated with my spraygun again

Death Korps of Krieg Guardsmen

Death Korps of Krieg w/Flamer--with a self sculpted skull on the base

Death Korps of Krieg back view

That's all for now. I understand that some of the models may not look finished yet or have some gloss, and that some squads arent completed or full--everything is in a pretty rough stage ATM. C&C... Enjoy!

Looks great, the green and red eyes give them a really cool soulless look. I've always been a sucker for post apocalyptic stuff anyway, but these are incredible.

Wow it has been a very long time since an update... I have been very busy with school, sports, and a Tau Battleforce that I got for Christmas. But, I actually have some updates I will get up hopefully very soon.

Update: I have been experimenting with my camera, so here's several pictures of some Renegades.

Another quick update: I got these guys off ebay awhile ago, hopefully I can get some tanks for them sometime.

Also, I've been trying to figure out what to do for my Disciples of Xaphan for the longest time. I can't decide if I want them to look like evil priests/acolytes, or like some kind of elite bodyguard that would look similar to renegade kasrkin or veterans. I have considered using many different things such as warhammer flagellants, necromunda redemptionists, kasrkins, or cadian shock troops with conversions from space marine scouts or pig iron heads. Any suggestions/ideas would be very helpful.

I have also considered doing something with the forgeworld enforcers for the Disciples of Xaphan. (Forgot to mention that).

Thanks! I think the best option for the Disciples is probably the Redemptionists from the Necromunda range. I also have some tanks now that i'm working on for the army.

Hi everyone!
Forgeworld's recent discontinuation of the Renegades & Heretics line led me to a quick scramble to buy up what I could manage. Likewise, I have dug up all of my old miniatures from when I started this project 8 years ago and I will be stripping and refurbishing many of them. That being said, I am going to be rebooting this blog so that you can all follow my progress of creating a fully fleshed-out miniature collection themed around the "Siege of Vraks" campaign.

So, what can be expected in this blog will be:
-2 variations of the defenders of Vraks- a Nurgle-themed force and a regular one
-A Death Korps of Krieg force
-A Red Scorpions force

I will be following up with pictures ASAP-bear with me, I post slowly but intend to commit to the project this time around!

Okay so the first order of business here is to decide whether or not to strip the Renegade Commander and the 2 Ogryns and repaint them, or simply touch them up a bit. Most of the other Renegades have already been stripped and cleaned and will be repainted with the new ones.

Likewise, I am trying to decide if I should strip these old Chaos Cultists, or just try my best to touch them up. These OOP Cultists will be thrown in with the lot of Cultists from the "Dark Vengeance" boxed set which I acquired some time ago and will be using now.
