Khorne Chosen Marine Riding a Juggernaut

Ahoy!
I just wanted to start a little Topic - I figured it should go here, as it's neither 40,000 or Fantasy General Discussion - to gauge how most of you folks transport your miniatures! Do you use a Battlefoam Case? Have you engineered your own Transportation Contraption? Do you chuck all your miniatures in a Big Ol' Tub? Whatever the case, we want to hear about it!
Just, oh, Half an Hour ago, I hit upon a master stroke! I was down at Focus, and I knocked over one of these Wooden, Hand-Made A4 Paper Trays. You know, the kind of things you see in a Photocopier's, or in the Office. And here I am, with some Blessed Inspiration for the Divine Emperor, with 4 of the Trays. Why, you say? Because they're almost the perfect depth for Miniatures! They're also neatly stackable!
Without further adu, then, chaps, Behold: The Future.
I'm calling it... well, I don't actually know. Does it need a name? Does it even warrant a name? I'm going to source some 1|2" Thick A4 Foam, and punch out Base Circles. I'll sit the Miniatures in the Foam, and then they won't shake around! It'll also be useful for ensuring that I'm not missing any; if I am, I'll see an Empty Hole!
So, over to you, the Community; how do you transport your army?

I got a Feldherr case. They are a German company but even with shipping to the US it was a great bargain and a great case.

Just a Foam Insert, 1|2" Thickness. That way, when I cut the Base Sizes accurately into the Foam, they can sit in the Holes created, and not fly about within the Case. Keep the Replies coming. Dakka Discussions, you say? Probably.

Unlucky there! I've heard the Citadel Cases aren't all too fantastic; of course, with products like Battlefoam and Sabol out there, they definitely have some competition! What do you think of my Improvised Paper Tray Transportation System? That's what I'm calling it now, by the way.

the citadel cases aren't bad actually. the only complaints that i've seen people have is that occasionally the latches break (i've owned about a dozen cases over 12 years and 4 moves including one year in unheated/uncooled chicago winter/summer storage and never had it happen). the small ones are *too* small for most armies (they're good for about 1500pts) so i'd recommend getting the doublesize cases if any from GW. i bought mine back in the 3rd edition days when the only choices were the GW ones, rifle cases, and the first army transport bags with pluck foam on which your models stuck to the adhesive gluing the foam! would i buy them again if i were starting out? probably if i were on a budget. for $100 you get enough for 2500pts+ of IG figs (4,000+ in the case of marines). if you've got money to burn, the battlefoam options are nicer in all aspects (the size, custom foam, space for books, etc) but much more costly (double to triple once you include the foam).

The Citadel ones are ok, they just don't fit a lot in for the size/price. Battlefoam are very very good but also incredibly expensive.
I use KR Multicases. They're basically archiving files with custom-cut foam in them, which hold more than a GW case. I've then got one of their carry bags which fits two KR cases. They probably don't provide as much protection as the GW case, but are much more customisable and much cheaper. And it's not like I plan on throwing down the stairs or something... http://www.kaiserrushforth.com/

I like it. Been wondering how to get my minis to and from my local store for my first game without spending a load of cash and your IPTT system might just work. Now down to B&Q to see if they have something similar.

I opt for the "Big ol' Tub"
I don't particularly care about what hapens to them, TBH. As long as my Daemon prince doesn't slam into my plastic stuff, I could care less. I should probably buy some battlefoam..But that stuff is expensive..

Glad you liked the idea. Hope it works for you, brother! As I say, I got mine from Focus, so if there's one near you, that's your best bet. Otherwise, I think B&Q must have something similar. Happy Hunting!

I use GW cases to trasport my figures and a old toolbox for my tanks. They all sit in there on top of each other. I dont play chaos and my models are designed to take a few knocks. I expect to have to make the odd repair.

Nice, nice. Looks like everybody has a different way of getting their Miniatures from A to B! I really only need to transport them from the House to the Car, and from the Car to the Club, and then back again. I don't really take them anywhere else.

I used to put magnets on all my bases and carry them in metal toolboxes but now I have a battlefoam case. I had to think long and hard before spending that much money, but on the whole, I am glad I did.

That's actually quite interesting too! I might look into putting a Sheet of Metal at the base of each, and then fitting Magnets to the bases. That'd stop them moving around, for sure!

Personaly i got tired of my stuff scratching and moving too much, was too cheep to buy foam. But since i've gott'n back into 40k i've devised a new plan to store / transport my army after i've finished repainting everything from scratch all over.
I work at Aaron Brothers and live near a Joan's Fabric. For those of you that are not familiar with Aaron Brothers, its a frame and art supplies shop. What i did was i bought a 16x20 display shadow box that opens from the rear and front. The front opens on a hinged door and has a magnetic lock. After ripping apart the rear masonite backing i replaced it with a magnetic board. Its a chalk board that i got on sale. I then went to joan's fabric and bought magnetic sticker strips, i basicaly painted the base of one of my s.marines and then stamped it in a grid pattern to show were i needed to cut out the right size to fit at the bases. I used sunburst yellow cuz it was easiest to see vs. the black magnet sheet. These sheets are able to easily be cut with scissors and have a peal and stick adhesive side so no glue needed guy'z
I'll have to post pics of it soon, but for now i have a few minis in already, and looks like a giant like cigar box with a glass lid to see the mini's standing in formation
but im also looking at buying an old military metal ammunition box and some egg carton foam to build a cheep carrying case for my few tanks i have. I also plan to build another magnetic shadow box for my brother's Eldar army as a surprise. He's currently stationed in Afghanistan for another year and half.
