A superb example of the deathwing. Are you going to add some iconography or do you prefer the clean look you've got?

honestly...i dont own ANY new transfers from GW...i havent purchased a boxed set of miniatures from them in years (outside of my spacehulk box)...the old GW transfers were HORRID (im talking like 2nd edition here...yes im kinda old)...minis are already matte coated so this is how they is a staying

white can be a tricky color to work with...the way i work with whites is use LOTS of water...i mean LOTS...the nice thing about GW white is that it can be applied as a highlight, a wash or even a glaze...just depends on how much you want to thin it down...it takes patience to find the right amount of water to use...but youll get it eventually

I really like these models, i'm normally not a fan of the Crisp and clean look but you have carried it off well.

I would not and probably could not paint like this so hats off, even if its not my style. Did you use micro pens on the models to get the nice black edges?

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

no pens used whatsoever...its just my painting style (old school GW style from the 1990s)...the color between the armor plates is a actually dark brown...the models started with a base coat of snakebite leather and were washed completed with brown ink...then bleached bone was coated over the top and worked up with white

Very nice and crisp! How many points are we looking at here?
Counts-as Deathwing tempts me just because I suck at keeping motivated on large scale armies (as in I've NEVER done one but only do skirmish scale gangs)
Were you tempted to put more detail on the display base? Just seems a bit of a shame to have such a large space occupied by grass...

these are beautifull, by your description (Ie: the camera doesn't do them justice) i was thinking they were going to be okay, but i love them, they have that crisp color scheme which i can only dream about replicating. Amazing.

You love it you slags!

Those boys look straight out of the 1993 'Eavy Metal painting guide I've got; in other words, fantastic! The blending on the highlights is great, the colors are rich, and the basing is simple so as not to detract from the mini. Putting them on that "bar" base makes me think you want to play Epic games with 40k scale models!

If your webhost is awful, try using the DakkaDakka gallery. It's actually pretty robust, and it won't spontaneously go down like your current host.

heheh...someone who knows what the old school deathwings looked like

there was a question about basing a few posts up...im not huge on doing super detailed bases...its one thing on the newer models with the over sized monster bases that the terminators now go on...but the small slottabases arent super ripe for adding rocks and stuff too...and it really doesnt work well on the 1st/2nd gen GW models because they were all so static looking...it really distracts attention away from the model itself...now if these were the current edition deathwings...yeah id throw a few rocks on there and maybe pose them in more dynamic poses with their feet mounted on rocks and such...and the base being an "epic" looking base...its just an easy way to setup and display my models theyre really meant for displaying my space wolf army (ive got 2 10 mini bases i made and a load of 5 mini bases for terminators and command units)

i think they are. the deathwing models haven't changed since 2nd edition. they've come out with generic SM termies and a deathwing upgrade pack on the DA sprue but no specific deathwing models for a long time.
