Well, this is actually the 5th marine I've converted so far, but only the third one you guys have seen. Don't worry though, when they're all painted up, you'll get your chance. Until then, you'll have to wait. But I'll throw you a bone. Here's my chapter master, just finished converting. I've actually lost count of all the parts I used making him (as well as all the parts that ended up being compromised along the way...)

I plan on running him as either Mephiston or a Librarian. The powerfist/plasmagun... thing... that is his left arm will explain the whole S6 thing, as well as the plasma pistol. I guess, fluffwise, you could compare it to a combination of Tycho's and Vulkan's guantlets. With plasma. On crack.

Compared to my other truescalies, he's been made much bulkier with additional greenstuff on the legs and torso, and using terminator shoulder pads instead of normal powered armour pauldrons. His apparant mass really helps him stick out from the crew, which is good, because he's also my shortest truescale marine (I have no clue how that one happened, seriously, he's only 38mm from his feet to his head). In the case of his backside... the right pauldron is so big that the jetpack can't fit on. I'll finish scraping off the rest of the ball-attachment once the model's completely dried.

And for the record, I'm aware that he will be an absolute pain in the ass to paint.

I think he looks fantastic. I also find it a little funny that the scroll cases look so perfect on him, when they are usually too big to fit on regular marines... let alone get them to look good.

As for his height, his legs do quite bent, like he is in the impact stage of his walk, so it seems reasonable that he isn't as tall. Perhaps with a little creative basing, you could still have him taller than the regular grunts though.

I figure height won't be such a huge deal, in fact, it'll probably help, since I'll be playing him as Mephiston

Great job on the plasma pistol conversion. Any clues as to how you'll eventually get a backpack on him?
Any more work to be done on the base?

Very nice!

The only thing that bothers me is that the "Deathwatch" pad is on the 'wrong' side.

Overall - awesome!

Massive.... love the effect. Excellent model. Am also curious as it if you're going to include a back pack of some sort and how it will work with the back scabbard.

Like Fafnir said he is bulky
Height to width ratio looks within the bounds of credibility.
He is just a bit shorter and stockier than other SM's

People come in different shapes and sizes, so it seems that after enhancement it would still be the case.
just my thoughts

to me he looks a real bruiser!
I ain't gonna tell him to his face that he shouldn't have eaten all the pies!

I really like it, as far as True Scale goes. The thickness really makes him look beefy, which is how I always picture Space Marines.

I agree with Eledamris. The width of models like this really communicate the true-scale idea of space marines more than the vertically stretched ones seen elsewhere.

OP, any reason you chose to keep the crux terminatus shoulderpad? I assume he's intended to be in power armour.

btw, nice work on the collar.

I'm not sure if that's sarcasm, but I'll assume it was genuine, as all dakka responses are

What I was wondering was, if it's going to be a chapter master, have you thought about sculpting some personal heraldry as well as the chapter icon onto the shoulderpads instead and simply adding a crux-terminatus pendant from the terminator sprues?
*Edit*: I see you've already done this with the belt 'buckle'

Loving this model so far, I like helmeted characters for the sake they make more.....sense.

I really like the look. It's nice to see that all space marines are not exactly the same hight and width. So where do I sign up for one?

I was thinking about it, and I did do a shoulderpad where I shaved off the crux, but it just didn't look too good. Besides, my chapter won't need much of heraldry once I'm done their... 'wound markers (I can't realistically make an army of ~30 of these guys... but their wound markers will make up for it)'

And as for the Deathwatch pad, I didn't even know it was a Deathwatch pad.

Well, with an entrance price of $20 per marine just for the parts...

That is tempting Fafnir! Really great work and I hope someday you will stop teasing us and show the rest of the conversions you mention in the first post.

I havn't gotten around to painting them, but I'll post them when they're painted. They're already primed anyway, so might as well wait a week or so for everything to come together.

Therein lies the issue... I've never been good at waiting but I'll try! I'm sure the wait will be well worth it!

It's also worth noting, that because of the equipment and posing, one of the two unposted marines can't even be fully assembled until he's painted anyway, so it's not like you're missing out on much. Just have faith that it'll look badass when it's done.
