I'm starting out an ork army, predominantly warbike.

I've got a friend that does regular green orks, and I thought it would look cool to have a blue ork mob that would be competing with the greenskins.

It starts with deneb stone and then takes two or three blue washes over it. It actually looks good. The only problem is, what colors go good with blue ork skin?? If I do yellow, theyll look like hannukah orks. If I do red they will look like superman orks. Brown? Anybody seen some blue orks that actually look good?

Thanks in advance!

I think you should use all of them, as orks aren't noted for their uniforms. If you have the patience and time for them, looted camoflage scraps and patterned cloth is entertaining to paint. As long as you are consistent with shades of cloth and skin, This will de enough for them to be tied together as units, while still standing out as individuals.

Your milage may vary, of course, and maybe you were planning something different. among the three you proposed (red, yellow and brown) I'd say brown.

Be sure to show us the pictures whenever you get the orks painted, it'd be nice to see some different orks.

I've painted a couple of my weirdboys blue and agree brown clothes works well, I tried red and green as well but it turned out a bit of a mess as you can see:

Go for it, the more coloured orks there are the better.

I suggest a light tan color with a brown wash. It ends up very neutral and compliments the blue skin.

Leather brown.

Forest Green (go darker than that one posted above).

Tan.

Pink.

Off-White. Honestly, Orks can't keep white clothes clean, so this would be funny.

Brown and green go well with blue, plus some yellow or red for small details or trim. Red weapons/weapon trim might be an idea as Orks do love their red.

Kudos for the blue skin, it's always nice to see something different. Fluff wise I suppose plants come in all different colours so why not Orks?

Dey may not be da greenest, but dey'z da luckiest Orks I've evah seen!

...I wonder, if I give my Orks red skin, will they go faster? Are yellow Orks the richest Orks?

Great concept, and I have nothing to add, because it's all been said already.

And that second Weirdboy looks cool as hell.

Okay, I think I'm gonna try out brown as described, and maybe some off white.. with some yellow details.

What about their bikes? Blue skin brown and dirty clothes.

Black bikes IMO. Any other color would contrast too sharply with that blue, and black would look pretty cool against it.

I agree, but the other ork player I know is doing black everything, so it would be too copycatish. I was just trying to get an idea of any colors that would work. Rust red?

Agreed, along with dirty steel and brass or bronze. The orange-ish metal will go good with the blue if it's not too bright. Really rusty metal might work.

Rusty metal is indeed your next best bet, but just like the previous poster said, don't make it too bright or it'll contrast nastily against the blue. Lots of browns and more deep red than orange.

Blue and black look good, especially on an ork!

If I remember correctly base coated with Mordian Blue then Vallejo Magic Blue ( which I think is Citadel Enchanted Blue ) then highlighted with Magic Blue / Skull White, hope that helps.

Only blue Orks I've ever seen was an ice world themed army. Most of their Armor and the like was done grey/white to came/go with the snow base theme.

Dem boyz been in the cold so long, they done near froze and gots all blue like dem 'umies do.

I personally think it looks awesome, but just a fair warning. A good friend of mine decided it would be cool and unique to paint red orks. It was pretty cool to him for a while but he than realized it kinda took the "ork" feel out of it for him. That's just his experience with the matter and what he told me. It personally doesn't make me feel any different but just a word of caution if you plan on making this a huge force.

Like I said though, looks pretty sick bro. Keep it up

originally inspired by heroscape orks which are blue I started a blue skin ork army, to make the blue skin i would start with regal blue then ultramarine blue then ice blue. to finish it off i would use a blue wash. that being said i found that catchian green and making a camo with bestial brown makes a good coloring for the orks cloth.

I've always liked unconventional army colors - my Blood Angels are predominantly painted in Necron Abyss, because why not?!

With that in mind I have started painting my Orks Hawk Turquoise, highlighted in Ice Blue then washed with Asurmen. They're trucker Orks, so Necron Abyss pants (jeans), Bleached Bone shirts and Calthan Brown accessories with detailing in Tin Bitz, Mechrite Red, Chainmail and Boltgun Metal.

I wanted a neutral colour for my vehicles, specifically Deffkoptas (I've got the Ork half of the Black Reach set), so I'm going with Charadon Granite for the chassis, with Mechrite Red detailing so dey go fasta!

Will post a photo when they're done

When I do Orks and their skin isn't green that means their clothes can be also grays look good with blues.

Sounds like deathskulls to me. I play deathskulls, and my orks are generally wearing a shiny brass top and white pants. It's a good effect.
