Greetings Brothers in arms

I have just finished the latest in my winter warfare themed imperial guard and I was pleased with the results so I wanted to post a few pics...let me know what you think!
Since in the original concept model I was just doing a quick paintjob to see how it'd look I've been a bit more selective with paints etc in this model and have tried to make the highlights slightly less 'glowy'

Did you get this idea off the movie Inception? Because the arctic warfare part in that is AWESOME! Nice Job!

No I didn't actually, I had the idea and built my concept model about 3 days before seeing the film..and the awesome winter scenes in inception made me think it was just meant to be! lol
if anyone has yet to see it..it's a fantastic film btw!

Uh well not really but it took alot of practice to get the types of lines I could use withou making it look pants...all In all I'd say it took about half an hour including practicing, which considering it's a tiny square is quite a long time..

the Mothership...

you should post the other skiing guardsmen you showed in the other thread too. the detail on this one's map is super, though. the only improvement i could suggest is to not have the blades of the chainsword sticking straight out of the guardsmen's back; i think it might look better laying flat on his back or even better if you used a chainsword still in it's scabbard.

The sergeant's head is from space marine scout sprue, hat is green stuff..

Sweet, let me know how they come out..I think maps are more fitting to IG, especially this theme..

All freehand I'm afraid

I didn't have one in a scabbard, literally just the onees in the cadian squad box, if you look though I did do a makeshift sling which explains how it can sit on his shoulder...every time i try to sling something on one shoulder whilst using my hands it slips right to the edge of my shoulder like that..so I figured it'd look more realistic..

and as for the other guardsman...here ya go! I've refined the highlights a bit for this pic, they were a tad too bright before..

right now im planning on making a semi scratch built vindicator from a rhino and plasticard. the model is going to be open topped despite it being closed in the rules and i want to have a map on a table for directing artillery made like the one your alpine troops have.

Nice, that sounds like a great idea...if it's on a table you could do a full map, I was a bit restricted by having it folded..
