Curious as to what Dakka thought what list in general poses the best chance in a tourney? I was originally going for a Mech assault theme (boyz in trukks, go fast, punch stuff) but idk if im still feeling the trukks idea, so fragile.

So now im leaning more on a kan wall list, (KMB's that ignore Gets Hot is really apealing), ide really like to take advantage of at least 1 Deffrolla but idk if they would fit in a kan wall list...unless i put lootaz inside for support fire?

Just brainstorming, what list do you think is the strongest?

IMO, I think any of the pure ork themes can be extremely competitive.
If you go all out in a theme, speed freak, mech, green tide, kan wall, they are are competitive, and can take most things you throw at them, given that you play them correctly.

Personally, I'd go for the mech list, with LOTS of trucks and battle wagons filled with KFF and power klaws, backed up by lootas and deff koptas. Truks are weak, thats why you need 4 or 5, target saturation is what orks do best. More wounds that can be dished out, in more places that can be targeted.

I just got my ork codex back and was reading through it, I realized that it doesnt say ANYTHING about Zagstrukk getting his priority PK only on the turn he deep strikes, it says "Every time he charges" Meaning every time he charges into assualt. Holy . Zagstrukk and stormboyz just became worth it to me.

The most competitive Ork list is battlewagon rush. Ghazghkull, boyz in wagons, burnas in a wagon, maybe some nobs or meganobz in a wagon, add lootas or other units to taste.

Also, personally I'd never field Zagstrukk because he forces his squad to come in by deep strike, and deep striking 20 stormboyz is a large footprint and a lot of points that go down the drain when they mishap.

Your right that they have to enter via Deepstrike, but it just says a Unit (meaning 5-20) though you will auto loose D3.

squad of assualt jump troops led by 5 swings of a PRIORITY POWER KLAW is insanely strong. It would be worth the points sink (WS 5 is pretty nice too) It wouldnt be amazing against huge horde armies, but MEQ squads and IC's have a solid chance of just getting PANCAKED (in most cases)

Well, the strongest list should be some form of Mechanized List. The core is 3 Battlewagons, a Big Mek and Ghazghkull .What you add after that can vary and depending on the abilities of the general will yield different results. You can and Nob bikers, Trukks, more Battlewagons or even seen walkers and fill the BW with Nobz, Meganobz, Burnas or Tankbustas

BOYZ!!!!!!! BOYZ!!!!! AND MORE BOYZ!!!
In wagons. Zoom across the table, and unleash hell! (No, don't cause a chaos incursion)
It is what Orks are all about about, overwhelming the enemy and letting flow a river of blood.

I played a mean ork list the other day, seemed very competive to me. Well guess it would it kicked my butt.

Consisted of 3 trucks with boys and big mek with KFF loaded in them. Nob bikers (with cyborg bodies, warboss and mad doc), something like 9 Kans and deff dread. He had the biker up front kans in the middle and trucks at the back. Everything was bunched and got saves.

I wish I'd had a colossus or 3.

Did the kanz and Dread ever get into the fight? I thought of something similar but i thought that my trukks and bikers would be in combat much faster than the walkers would be able to help...

I love ghazy, its just hard for me to justify him being in a list under 1225

Its hard to say;

All his kans had rokkets and managed to few good shots, killed my devil dog and got a ferw damage roll on my chimeras. I killed the dread so he never got into assault, one squad of Kans did get into melee but thats partly due to me meeting him half way with power blob, I dropped 1 with melta bombs but then a truck full of boyz piled in as well. If I had hidden at the back of the board i'm not sure if they'd got to me before turn 4/5.

The bikes will definatly get there first and your Kan are going to take a few turns to get across the board, I think it will work well in two out of three games. Don't think it would work in capture and control.

There is no "best" Ork army. Each theme has its own strengths and weaknesses and what makes it better or worse than another army is how the general holding the tape measure uses the army. I run a version of mechanized Orks that a lot of people think is both untailored and uncompetitive......but I'm intimately familiar with them and perform exceptionally well with them. The same will apply to you. Pick a theme that you want, and get very well acquainted with it. You can play a Kan-wall and be stupidly powerful with them. Or a Mech list. Or a reserve list. Or a biker list. Whatever you like.

I have no thoughts.

The units themselves are less important than in how you use them. I don't know what's in the rest of your gunline. ><
