the Mothership...

I decided a while back that my terminator space hulk army needed some bigger models to fill out the heavy slots so i decided to invest in two full dreads to accompany the tactical dreadnought armor boys in black. my FLGS sells the AOBR box in bits so i picked up two of those dreads and decided to pimp them out with a few extra pieces of bling. In addition, I personally prefer to play WYSIWIG so i added smoke launchers and a searchlight to the basic model as well as repositioned the legs to remove the "i just stepped off of a horse after a long day riding on the range" pose most dreads have. Finally, the stormbolter is gone and replaced with a heavy flamer from the chaos vehicle combiflamer bit. I've still got the original arms converted to dual lascannons from extra guard bits as well as two right DCCW arms in case i want to use them with my proper blood angels successor chapter (i usually use dark angel deathwing rules for them). as with my terminators, i eventually plan on going back and doing the highlighting and scroll work but for now they're at least table top ready. Feel free to comment (and especially to vote, whether good or bad.. just click on the image and it'll take you to the gallery). p.s. i already know the wash is too heavy in parts and some decals look like crap (especially on the arms).

What you did with those legs makes the dread look a LOT less silly than it is off the sprue, yet still keeps the look and feel intact. Very nice indeed.

thanks. the whole bow legged dread pose has annoyed me since the second edition models so i decided to change that with the AOBR dreads since i figured they weren't that expensive (both of them together cost me the same as one full MSRP dread even with the FW arms included). straightening out the legs adds height which makes cover saves harder to get but not having the "i just got off a horse" pose was worth it, imho. this pic is what inspired me to add an actual thigh to the dreads...

dreadnought with thighs! gasp!
