the Mothership...

I've finally gotten my deathwing and ravenwing up to full tabletop standard (painted, based, etc) and it only took almost a whole year! i'm still not done with the deathwing as i'd like to eventually hold highlight the black armor edges and the metallic bits as well as actually write stuff on all those purity seals/scrolls/book. I was so enamored with the quality of the Space Hulk terminators (and so happy that GW finally released new Blood Angels models) that i ended up buying a two sets and trading for a third set of the marines. At the time, the rumors of the Blood Angels codex had yet to surface so i thought they'd be the only models i'd add to the army for years. I painted them up to match my first ever army (my homebrew Blood Angels successor chapter from 3rd edition "Sons of Sanguinus") and simply borrowed the regular and attack bikes from my BA force into the Ravenwing detachment. Belial's (or technically Sgt. Lorenzo's) weapons are magnetized so i can choose which loadout is best for the mission at hand.

one question i do have (in addition to any general C&C) is whether or not my fellow dakkites think the highlighting should be grey or red... I'm undecided on that part...

*edit* hmm... probably should have done more closeups for the thread. technically, you can click on the images and zoom in via dakka's gallery function but that's a bit of effort.

I like how the army looks overall, models clad in heavy black armor walking on snow just looks powerful to me.

From what I can see there, you've done a really good job, although I think you could apply some highlights to the black armour, otherwise it looks a bit unfinished. However, I like the contrast you've made between the snow and the black armour.

Good work, keep it up

I dunno...

Looks like the black needs highlights to me

From what I can see, it looks like a solid paintjob. Zoomed in on the minis, and I can't tell if it is the light or not, but it looks like I can see highlights. I am not a fan of over-highlighting models at all. If these are done with highlights, IMHO, you did it right.

Thorian Enclave Inquisitorial Guard - 6000points
Grey Knights - 4000pts
Divine Crusaders - 5000pts
Order of the Argent Shroud - 3500pts
Kabal of the Black Heart - 3000pts

i tried a few minor highlights but so far they're not done. i'd still like to go back and highlight some of the black armor edges as well as the metallics before dullcoating them. the bikes are from my first ever painted army and have been dullcoated for about half a decade so no additional work can be done there without stripping them.

the Mothership...

Well, i've now added a ride for my command squad (alas without belial due to the transport size restrictions on DA landraiders)... a MKIIB preheresy Land Raider.

I apparently have a thing for old school land raider designs as my BA army (all 3rd edition and earlier models from back in the day) uses a rogue trader LR converted to a crusader/redeemer while my newer, space hulk deathwing army uses the FW preheresy design. I've got a MkIII prometheus sitting unbuilt in the basement, though; i just have to figure out what to do with it!

Here's a shot of what I can actually fit in a single normal GW case (albeit with some models pressed up against each other unfortunately). 2.5k of Bloodwing on one army list!

Here's a few of my other P&M threads. Thanks for looking and enjoy!
