A number of independent retailers have shown interest in joining the site however, as their prices are not lower than those advertised on our site, they have refused to join as it may damage their reputation and/or impact on sales.

There aren't many shops which can compete with a flat shipping rates as well as 20-60% off.

Does the search engine incorporate shipping fees? I've found that really is the crux of the matter.

Yes, prices are listed with shipping fees included and are organised with the lowest at the top to the most expensive at the bottom.

It's worth noting that some companies have a flat shipping fee i.e. £2.99 meaning that on smaller or singular items they wont be the cheapest however, if your looking to buy in bulk, they could end up saving you a considerable amount on shipping.

What prompted the shift from a selling site to a price comparison site?

The short answer is that due to the amount of competition between online retailers to sell items at the lowest price possible, there is very little profit to be made from wargaming products unless you sell in vast volumes.

A regular occurrence was that a number of potential customers attempted to haggle down our prices in order to secure their sale. Other websites were often quoted during this process which led to us feeling that a price comparison service may be of more use to the community.

Other factors came in to play as well which included issues with Games Workshop, postal strikes and numerous items 'going missing' which led to refunds.

What about Maelstrom?

They were initially wanting to have their products added to the price comparison lists however, I was given the impression that they didn't want to proceed for some of the reasons listed above.

Odd given that they almost always end up best on price when shipping/free shipping is taken into consideration...

That's not entirely true.

Taking Assault On Black Reach as an example, our cheapest price including shipping is £46.99 whilst Maelstrom Games are £49.50.

I'm sure that for some smaller items, they are cheaper however, in bulk, I would imagine that the shops which we are affiliated with would be much cheaper.

I hope in the future, that more shops including Malestrom, decide to have their items added to our website.
