I have just finnished and tested my new guard army. it is based on the ACW confederates. I know there are mixed views on my army but i don't want anyone to be intenonaly offended. I know that some people will be offened but i do apologise as i don't use this army to represent racism. I have also added a few crazy conversions in there such as the dukes of hazzard devil dog and my general (who is also modeled on the actual general Lee) and TF2 ogyerin. What do you all think of my conversions and the idea. as i have said it is not my intention to offend so i have treaded carefuly to make sure what i include is not offencive.

Why would someone model an army after a military force that lost...?

Do you not want to be a winner?@!? And where are the slaves?

Totally inaccurate!

I think this army is tasteless and I hope you loose every game you play with it.

Tasteless, I'm pretty sure it tastes like paint, glue, plastic and ignorance.

C'mon nah!

I say good work. Pretty original.

I actually love the General Lee car. Just need Bo and Luke Duke driving it.

There is nothing wrong with the theme of this army. Folks do armies based on all kinds of stuff.

Seen some based on German stuff. Didnt see anyone complaining about that.

Oi!! Which Butt'n makes dis ting go!?!

Its nice to see you posting again considering you were pretty much flamed off this last time, you've got good spirit.

Right, onto going through the long, lengthy process of the people who bother to read books explaining the history of America.

Before I've start, yes, I've been through this before.

So lets lay down some of the basics before this who thread burns.

1) It isn't a civil war in a true sense due to the fact the south left the north and formed its own country.
2) Both sides had slave owners on them.
3) Although a cause, slavery is not one of the main reasons of the war.
4) The south couldn't make slavery illegal due to the HUGE amount of agriculture and economy based on it.
5) The most important point; History is written by the winners! No one is exempt from that, even the bible shows this (look at king David, IIRC the bible doesn't mention most of the bloody acts he did)

Feel free to correct me on any of these points if you know better...

I like all the vehicles in the army, especially the general lee (mostly because I'm a fan of Dukes of Hazard). The is something off about the infantry, can't quite tell, maybe better pictures could help.

As for flamers, there was a lot more to the civil war than just slavery, that just happens to be the most hot button of the issues. (of course we can all agree it did need to go away...)

I think the paint job on this army is alot better when you actually see it. I've seen it and it matches the uniforms close to perfectly.

I think the bad comments might just be to do with the pictures. dont get dis-heartened. It is proberly the best converted army ive seen.

Seriously folks, lets stop being so politically correct.

Inaccuracy - Who gives a sh*t.

Ingorant - He started the post with aknowleging the fact that it was a sensitive issue. Thats not ingorance.

Tasteless - There are wargames out there where one can buy, paint and play with Nazi miniatures. I'd say a Confederate army is pretty tame by Nazi standards.

All in all its a fun and quite original army. But i think you need to thin your paints down a bit.

I'd suggest for the OP that he checks his camera has a macro (IIRC?) feature on it and if so make sure it is switched on when taking the photos, a few better quality close ups are what I'd like to see as of now.

The pics are a bit blurred for detailed critique, but it looks like you've got all the main colour blocks done well. The freehand looks ok as well. It might benefit from a final going over of the white and some todying of edges though.

Also the largest re-enactment movement in the US (and possibly the world) is based around the US civil war. Interest in the period does not equate to rampant racism... (also to be honest we Brits did it much better and for much longer than the US, same with the concentration camps )

Dude, did you seriously mix "Indian" archers in there from Fantasy to make it seem more like the Civil War? That is brilliant!

This is an awsome job. The only part that seems off to me is the hats you chose for the Cadian bodies, they just look funny from the pics. Maybe a better angle would help. The concensus is that you need better photos anyway.

Regarding the whole confederate/southern issue, to some people the confed flag represents freedom, to some oppression.

Ultimately, if you read the right books, you will discover that the war was about economics. The racial issue was a byline that has more significance now than at the beginning of the war. Probably a bit like modern Iraq. . .

The right or wrong of it all is up to your own personal opinion, which may or may not be the same as my own. . .

Moreover, do you think the Confederacy is in better or worse taste than the Imperium of Man which (albeit fictional) is credited with a lot more attrocities than the Confeds ever got up to? By supporting/modeling either, you are in some way actually advocating the morals associated with them. CSM any one?

More importantly, I sure would like to see some better pics please.

I would really like to see a guard v guard; Union v Rebels battle, would be sweet.

Also forget the haters, most people don't understand that other than slavery, (which not every southerner owned a slave to begin with since most white males were small time farmers or sharecroppers themselves) the South was justified in it's actions. The economic climate of the south was continually degrading due to policies set by the north, and it finally just came to a boiling point. Sure it's a good thing the North won, and the ONLY reason it's a good thing was slavery. Other than that the south was in the right for the most part.

And still many people model U.S. Army Imperial guards.

Your army is looking good! I don't understand the fuss about it being confederate themed. Everyone should really get over it.

I know you are trying to instigate an argument but I gotta say something anyway. The United States has never militarily lost any conflict, including vietnam. Don't attempt to disprove this, because vietnam was a political loss, not military. And before you come back with some snide remark on how we left and that somehow counts as a loss, look up some statistics, read about battles, and educate yourself beyond wikipedia and CNN.

And don't bring up our current situation in Iraq of Afghanistan, because these are ongoing things and we have made success in many of our endeavors there, contrary to popular CNN belief.

If I didn't already have a pseudo-historical IG army, I might model one up. (i have preatorians, natch).

I could do Black Hatted Iron Brigade. Teach those treasonous rebs a thing or two about fighting.

I think the Confederate IG is a humorous poke at Historical wargamers who turn their noses up at GW games.

I agree that your paints could use a thinning and your photos could use some clarity, but overall it's a solid color scheme and you have my respect for actually *finishing* a themed project. I know a lot of people (myself included) have dozens of brilliant ideas unfinished and sitting in a box somewhere.
