Hi , here's my logan grimnar wip so far . please comment and any suggestion welcomed as to any more iconography and colours to the cloak .. also should i try nmm on it ?? as ive only tried it once before.

I really liike the modeling you are doing...Are you going to go with the basic Space Wolves Gray paint?

The axe is a bit big... but ok...

Otherwise... really nice... though you might try working out a few details that might seperate him from a 'producion line' model if you know what i mean?? perhaps some armor runes??? i don't know...

P.S. Just checked you gallery... impressive stuff. IMO your normal metalic metal looks great... i dont really like NMM anyhoo.

I like the Axe...I think it really shows his strength and how he is weilding a huge weapon..but I agree with the idea about adding the runes.

He overall looks very good, but that axe has got to go. The blades are way too big.

Grimnar has a Storm Bolter. Maybe model it coming out of his shield.

the model itself looks awesome but i do see a wysiwig problem. logan grimnar doesn't have a storm shield or a 3+ invul save. if you're making such an impressive model, i'd hate to have someone spring the rules on you at a tourney for WYSIWIG and not be able to use it. if you change the axe to a hammer, he'd make a kick ass and completely WYSIWIG arjack rockfist though or use him as is as a custom wolf lord.

I think the axe is a bit big. Good query on the stormbolter, maybe give it to him gauntlet style on his axe hand? Runes deff needed on the axe. can we get a shot of the cape? great work so far.

His lower half is a bit plain. Though overall it think its pretty awesome.

Yeah just get an xacto knife and a file and do some old Gaelic runes on it! And they make a good point for WYSIWYG.

wysiwyg= what you see is what you get, refers to the gaming aspect of your opponent being able to tell what wargear your miniature has by it being modeled and displayed.

The axe is huge but if you like it then go with it. You can make a backstory of it having being ripped from the cold dead hands of a Daemon after brutal single combat and later reforged in the deepest foundry of Fenris... codex rules do not cover imagination.

But if you are going to play the miniature I'd reign it in a bit and ensure it is list legal.

It looks awesome.

dakka has a cool function that if you use a commonly accepted acronym, it'll be colored a different hue and dakka will tell you what it is if you put your mouse pointer over it (try it with WYISIWIG ). as stated above, it's "what you see is what you get". keeping it WYWIWIG is good if you ever plan on selling the mini as logan grimnar; otherwise, he makes a kickass normal wolf lord and is completely legal. as for the axe, i'd keep it the size it is. it's huge but it conveys the power that a space wolf lord should (especially since the SW rules give frost blades a +1 strength compared to other chapter's power weapons)

I also disagree with the whole Axe is too big thing, but only because its Logan Fraggin' Grimnar. If its one model I expect to have a huge CCW, its him.

Man im absolutely loving that axe!! Reminds me of my days of playing Diablo. I do ahve one question though, the storm shield on him is over his storm bolter in the first or secound pic correct?

that is one naaaaaice model. i think however that with the storm bolter just 'glued' on top of the powerfist, it loses some f its 'epicness'. - maybe some green sutff can sort that out, but if not, i would stick to the power shield.

I actually really like the axe. It's meant to be a massive thing representing Morkai.

The pose is great, I used the same pose/cloak for my Arjac model. The only thing I would prefer would be to swap his non axe arm for the GW Grimnar model's gun arm, the one in the upright position.

But, really, I can't fault it, look forward to seeing this bad boy painted!

Love the storm bolter/claw, but yeah, that axe is just too big. Imagine yourself trying to wield an axe that was almost as wide as you were tall. Even if you had the superheroic might to swing it, how would you functionally swing something that big? You'd have to telegraph your attack so badly any old grot could leisurely stab your hurty bitz before you could get around to killing anyone.

To risk sounding like everyone else on here, the axe is comically large.

Well the axe is glued firmly in place now so its gotta stay. Saying that now it's got it's first layer of paint on it looks alot smaller and hey i like it so happy days. Thanks to every 1 for there input and comments really appreciate it.
