Hey all, has been awhile since I first posted (I actually don't recall when it was....) and have been busy stripping paint of my Daemonettes. Needless to say, I'm looking for a new colour scheme, and not a generic colour scheme. I also have 8 Bloodletters that will be painted (after being stripped... gimme a break, it was my first try!) with the same colour scheme. So if anyone has any ideas for schemes, please let me know!

G'day I saw this pic (or a similar one) posted elsewhere on DakkaDakka, and thought it would make a very cool colour scheme for some daemons...(for all i know, thats what the person is planning anyway!)

Good luck

Cool - post pics if you get a good effect - Im seriously considering a similar (but purple) effect with my daemonettes. Love to see what you end up with.

Ok this is the first one (very messy, but it's the trial) and apart from the fact that it's not finished and that I was half asleep and shaking from lack of caffeine, I'm happy with the way they should turn out

The pics are a tad hard to see imo, and because of the flash on the camera it looks as if part of the detail have been removed.

Also if you upload your pics to the dakka dakka gallery it would allow people to view them if they are at work/school.

Aye, unable to see the pics as they require downloading, will be the same for a lot of people who check from work.

Hit gallery at the top of the page and then "Your gallery homepage". You can upload directly to dakka from there and just paste the forum link under each pic into your threads for us to be able to see the pictures easily, and even vote and comment on them for feedback.

The blue daemonette is not that bad. Lizardmen players would find it useful to ask for a tutorial.

Not too shabby, what kind of brush are you using?

I only have 3 brushes (only just starting) just a large brush, standard brush and a fine detail brush, although i mostly use a pin or a toothpick to do the smaller detail. I used the standard brush for dry brushing to blend the leg colours it's only the first daemonette so the next one will hopefully be an improvement.

Always be sure to take care of that fine detail brush. After years of painting, you will learn that it is your friend.

Just a thought that I had- you could go over the model in certain places with a gloss varnish, it may add the slimy-amphibious effect that I think you may be after. Maybe each squad could be a different frog scheme, so research poison dart frogs..

I thought the same thing, I just have to wait till I can next buy some gloss. And good idea on the different squads, thanks

If you do go with complete frog look, your Keeper of Secrets could be converted from a slann, and maybe even buy some skinks for some daemonic unit.

That frog has an epic paintjob. The daemonettes look nice with that paintjob but the hair color matching seems justa bit strange.

What do you think the hair should look like?

Personally, I would make the hair a light green. Green is part of the blue spectrum so should look rather nice.

To make the hair stand out (if thats what you're after) then a bright red\pink would be nice.

If you want more of a monochrome look then a light blue should work.

My 2 cents.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

I really like the leopard spots. I would try it using a darker blue for the base color (like royal blue). A dark blue wouldn't stand out against the black, but the lighter ring around the black spot will.

For the hair, I would try white or pale blue with a dark ink wash for the crevices. Might have to do a little dry brushin' after that to get the stark highlight back.

if you want to get more fancy, you can do the claw surfaces in a different color.

Don't be afraid of color. Play with a color wheel. Personally, I like blue against orange. Chaos should be krazy. I think that pattern would look pretty good in black light colors.

10k pts Eldar (no jetbikes -- how is that possible?)

2k pts 3rd edition Wolves (no werewolves or clifford cavalry -- but I do have a nifty Leman Russ Exterminator shaped paperweight)

1.) I love the treefrog look a great deal. Definitely different and well done.

2.) I'd probably go with pink hair for the maximum contrast. Alternately, neon green with yellowish highlights also would work, imo.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I have to agree with pink for the hair. I tried to do some of my Nids in a strawberry tree frog pattern which was faded from pink through pruple, blue and black.

Those colours look great together.

If you prime black and start off with the legs and head/back using flicking, that could look great.

Get a cheap brush or a drybrush and load it with some watered down yellow paint, then bend the bristles back with your finger and let them flick towards the legs to get that nice stippled look. The less loaded the brush is, the smaller the dots will be. You can then do the same with blue over the yellow for the legs and red for the back/head, then paint on the stripes and blue underbelly.

Will be a bit time consuming but could look great, specially with a whole unit done to the same scheme.

Ahem.....posting in a girl thread!

Anyway, I think that an entire unit painted like the blue poison dart frog would be really neat.

Having recently purchased one, I would heartily recommend purchasing a GW or equivalent drybrush. The shortened bristles clean up easier, don't waste as much paint, and give you a superior finish to drybrushing with a "basecoat" or "wash" brush.

On Etsy, I sell a bunch of blood-splatted Jason hockey masks. To get a good, repeatable pattern, I have good luck using an old toothbrush and the lid from a jar. I put a little watered down paint in the lid, dip the toothbrush in, and with the target about 2 inches away, slowly rub the angled toothbrush across the lip of the lid. Do this a few times with a test mini to get the pull speed and angle down, and you can get very consistent results fairly easily.
