These are from my Call Me Ishmael thread. These are only the completed models (some still need basing and touch-ups though). Been working on this army since July, but only recently have added a small Pirate contingent (October time-frame). Ill field these guys in either 2 trucks or a Battlewagon. Im still waiting on some bits to arrive but have the Deck Guns for the trucks and some other tasty bits so far. Still need to get my concept down for the BW and trucks though. I want them to have masts, cannons, crows nests (manned by Grots of course) and Prow. They will have boarding planks as well as anchors though Im not quite sure how to model them just yet.

I know there's another thread dealing with Pirate themed Orks. I dont mean to crowd the forum with them.

Ill post pics of some FW grots and a few other Pirate Orks soon - the special order Flash Git. To flesh out the the Mob to 24 and then up to 30, I used regular Ork Boyz - the basic head models. Im waiting on flintlock pistols from the Warhammer, Mordhiem and Kroot sprues to show up. Ill sprinkle these throughout the Mob.

My big TO-DO is to complete the Trucks and BW. The BW will look like a pirate ship - ork style. The trucks will be slightly converted to look like pirate corvettes but not alot of effort will go into the trucks.

These boyz are great - awesome modeling and super painting. If these are your regular boyz can't wait to see your Flash Git Freebooterz.

I REALLY like the way the skin tone pops!

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

For the skin - I spray paint the model white, then wash it all with Badab Black, then Thraka Green. Thats it! More layers of green depending on the Orkiness of the model. Grots get one, boyz get 2, nobs get 3, reallly big Nobs get 4.

Hide your dabloons from these Buccaneers! Excellent work! You have done something few have ever accomplished, combining elements of the Pirates of the Carribbean, Rambo, and 40k all in one! Great work, I like the color of the skin and the the general style of the paint jobs.

Wow... can't believe such a simple skin technique resulted in such stunning results! I'm going to have to give that a go!

Yep - its really that simple - without this technique I wouldnt have gone into another horde army. I was thrilled with the results and its actually motivating knowing that I wont have to go through 16 steps PER model to get a finish Im happy with. The key step is the black wash, dont be shy with it, cover the entire model (after white base coat and painting anything boltgun metal that needs it). Also, as a heads up, washes go on lite but dry much darker than when they look when wet. Covering the model too darkly with the black wash will result in a finish thats dark, go lightly on the raised areas.

I did a little orky pirate jig just for you.

You must understand that for an ork a day that starts off killing something with your bare hands, and ends with those same hands being chopped off in battle, is a good one.

What's betta than one choppa? Two choppas!!! Two choppas is one more than...is one times da...IS LOTS MORE FUN!! WAAAAGH!!!

Very nice, love the simple wash technique you used, it works great and is surely a huge time saver!

On a side note I guess you are excited about the 'Freebooters' that you get to play as in Dawn of War 2 - Retribution?

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.
