the third one likely relates simply to the admech stuff, but there's been rumors for awhile that forge world's going to be made a little more mainstream..

the 'dex isn't out yet so don't see why not

Yeah speaking of the dex. We are sure that the doctrines require a leadership test? I saw that mentioned but I don't know if was verified with any leaked pages...

As someone who is really excited by this new release and has already gotten in way too deep with the Skitarii...I hope you're right. I would like awhile to get some use out of the Skitarii by themselves before something bigger and better comes along.

I;ve been saying for awhile now that I doubt we'll see a seperate admech 'dex. there's no real obvious place for additional stuff. that said I do find it a bit intreasting that there's no tech preist. if you lump techpreists and techmarines together, the skitarii are the one IoM army (or maybe sisters lacks one?) without a tech preist style unit

Just doesn't make a lot of sense to bring out an expansion army for an army that isn't even out yet. Scions were out only a month before the Guard-proper 'Dex came out. Harli's at least had the Eldar and DE out before them.

This Skitarii release, to me at least, seems a bit like putting the mechno-horse before the techno-cart. I mean, they wouldn't release the Imperial Fist supplement before the Marine 'Dex, so why have they done so here?

I just doubt there will even be a proper AdMech 'Dex, or an HQ choice for the army I've waited years and years for.

If they change the Imperial Fist supplement to the way Khorne Daemonkin or Militarum Tempestus were done?

Yeah, I could see them releasing the book before the Marine Codex. Plus it's not like that's ever stopped them from releasing a Dark Angels supplement book for Marines right?

Daemonkin, like the Dark Angels Codex, are full Codices. They do not require other books.

Skitarii seem like a half measure.

I dunno, while I think it may be a bit longer I think there probably will be another Ad. Mech Dex is some kind. As many others have said they did it with MT and AM. Also I find it strange that the Skitarii, while having just as many listings as the Harlequins, have a much cheaper codex and didn't get a painting guide or dice. Totally breaking the trend of the last bunch of releases.

Skitarii are no different than the Daemonkin, Tempestus, or Harlequin books IMO.

It's more of a measure than Militarum Tempestus was.

*shrugs*

Three kits, one of them ludicrously overpriced, another huge and not-at-all what a lot of us imagined for Skitarii, and a tiny cut-price Codex. No HQ choice.

It's not a real Codex. When it grows up it might be.

To be fair to the Tempestus book, I think the concept was rather sound but the execution was awful.

If it had been one of the new style books where Sergeants could be your Warlord and there were no HQ choices? I think it would have garnered a lot more interest--especially if released long before the new Guard book.

4 kits but yeah. It's as much a codex as Militarum Tempestus is though. I think it actually has more units than that I think?

It was a good idea but yeah it boils down to literally being some units from the Guard book which was out a month later, with some different orders. So basically a page of rules for £25.

it makes perfect sense. you're thinking about the MT as a source for comparison but there's a hole in your logic. MT is a expansion for a product line that already existed. there are already plastic LRs, plastic guardsmen, plastic Chimeras etc.

the new Skitarii codex is the starting point here. with any luck it'll be wildly sucessful and GW's already moving to expand it.

4 kits but yeah. It's as much a codex as Militarum Tempestus is though. I think it actually has more units than that I think?

Tempestus Command Squad(HQ)
Commissar(HQ)
Tempestus Squad(Troops)
Taurox Prime(Fast Attack)
Valkyrie Squadron(Fast Attack)
Ground Assault Formation(Commissar, Command Squad, I think 4 Tempestus Squads--everything mounted in Taurox Primes)
Airborne Assault Formation(The same but with Valkyries instead)

In all honesty, it comes down to what one would count as a strictly Tempestus item(IMO: The Tempestus Squad, Taurox Primes and Command Squads fit the bill there for reasons I'll get into in a moment).

They also changed up the way you took the Scions. Scions are fielded in Platoons in IG as Elites whereas in MT you fielded Squads and they were Troops.
It was disappointing they had no Relics or anything special though. I felt kind of bad selling my MT book on to someone else; but they wanted it despite my warnings.

MT came out a whole month before the 'proper' Guard Codex. For this to be equivalent then surely the AdMech 'Dex should follow quite quickly?

right but my point is the IG already had a mini range. meanwhile there isn't a Admech Mini range (the closest we'd get is tech preists and tech marines. which does not a codex make) thus we CAN'T compare the two as the MT where basicly a supplement to something that already existed.

if GW wants to produce a larger admech 'dex they'll have to basicly start from scratch. so expecting a seperate admech codex in a month or two is overly optimistic. as GW generally doesn't like to stretch releases out over more then a month (2 month dark eldar release they did about a year ago was apparently pretty bad. I remember hearing my GW manager grumbling that it made it REALLY hard to hit his quarterly goal) so I always assumed Skitarii where going to be "it" my guess is that we're not going to get a Admech codex, but rather GW may give us small 'dexes for other admech orginizations. thus in a year or two we may see "codex Admech: Legio Cybernetica" we may also not see anything more from GW and FW'll pick up the torch and expand further.

hmm IA:14 Machines of the adeptus Mechanium?
