Heavy Support
battle wagon, big shoota, deff rolla, grot riggers, extra armor

Mission: Annihilation (Daemons have 15kp, Orks have 11kp)
Deployment: Pitched battle

My opponent wins the roll off and gives me the first turn. He deploys with the biker nobz on the left, battlewagon nobz and ghaz in the middle, with the kff burna wagon next to them. Deff dread, storm boyz and his single unit of boyz holds down the flank.

Daemons Turn #1: I get in my preferred wave of 3 grinder's, 2 fiends, 2 squads of horrors. I drop the grinders in a semicircle to the left, offsetting his nob squads. The fiends drop behind the grinder's, and the horror's go out on each flank. Shooting see's both pie plates scatter off the nob bikers(the third couldn't see because of a bad scatter) and I blow the big shoota off of the nob battle wagon.
Daemons KP: 0 Orks KP: 0

Ork's Turn #1: Everything zooms forwards except the nob biker's who hide out behind the battle wagon's waiting for a better charge opportunity. Shooting see's 2 of the horror's killed.
Daemons KP: 0 Orks KP: 0

Daemons Turn #2
I get in one chariot, the flamers, the plague bearers, and the two horror squads. Everything drops on the right side to try to take out the storm boyz. The flamers scatter into the boyz and go back into reserves. Shooting see's me kill all of the storm boyz except for the nob, whom I then charge with three horror's, they get a wound on him but he then wipes out the unit. The soul grinders move up and take three str10 shots at the nob battlewagon and immobilize it. 2 grinder's assault the nob battlewagon and blow it up. The fiends combi-assault the mek wagon and the deff dread (only 2 fiends on the dread), they pop the battlewagon, and remain locked in hth with the dread.
Daemons KP: 2 Orks KP: 1

Orks Turn #2
Ghazghul calls the waagh, the boy unit charge's into a recently dropped horror unit and wipe them out. The stormboy nob assaults the other horror unit killing 1 and locking himself in hth. The burna boyz move up and assault the horror squad on the left, but I actually win the combat by 1, and he passes morale (he was very strung out, only getting 5 burna's in the combat). Ghazghull charges on soul grinder by himself, and munch's it. The nobz' charge the other grinder, the grinder kills 2 but the klaw hits 4 times and gets 3 pens and destroys the grinder. The fiends kill off the deff dread.
Daemons KP: 3 Orks KP: 4

Ghaz prepares to rock bottom a soul grinder.
Daemons Turn #3
I get in the flamers. They scatter into the boyz again and he places them along my back table edge. The fiends that killed the dread charge the stormboyz nob, and the ork boy unit. The plague bearers charge the same ork boy unit. I whiff pretty bad and he kills off all the fiends but 1, he has about 6 boyz left in the squad, I do kill off the stormboyz nob though. The last soul grinder hucks some phlegm but the shot goes wide, and he charges into the boyz killing another nob. The left side unit of fiends kills the burna boyz and the big mek.
Daemons KP: 6 Orks KP: 4

Definitely not the result I was expecting here!

Orks Turn #3
Snikrot comes in and they kill off the flamer's. The boyz manage to kill off the last fiend, and are still beating on plague bearers. Ghazghull charges in on the last grinder but only manages to immobilize him. The nob bikers pick on the horror unit on the left that I wasn't able to completely shield with fiends.

Daemons KP: 6 Orks KP: 6

Daemons Turn #4
I get in the last 2 chariots and the masque. The masque drops near the biker's, and the horror's drop near the kommando's. Three chariots open up on the orks out in the open and kill 6 of them, one of the chariots charges in, and kills another one and takes a wound from Snikrot. The fiends combi-assault the nob biker's and Gaz. They kill off the bikers, put two wounds on Ghaz, and the grinder crunch's two more biker nobz. He puts all of his attacks into the grinder but fails to blow it up, both units break and run, the fiends catch Gaz and run him down. Still can't kill off the nob from the boyz squad.
Daemons KP: 9 Orks KP: 6

Shoo!, bad ork, bad.

Suicide chariot.

Orks Turn #4
Snikrot's unit and the herald continue to trade blows. The boyz nob finally goes down.
Daemons KP: 10 Orks KP: 6

We were running low on time so called the game there. Either that or I think we may have been off on turns, thinking that turn 4 was actually turn 5. A fun brutal battle that went back and forth a few times. My take away is that you can't insta gib Ghaz, I forgot about that little tidbit.

I think I’d like to start out saying that this was a great battle that, like warmaster said, swung between the two of us with no definite winner until the end with many tense die rolls and laughs.

On to my thoughts concerning the battle? It is still hard to say considering this was my first actual battle against demons and I’m still testing out this list (still surprised how good it has been doing, I still blame good luck more then skill or list strength).
My strategy? Being that I was playing demons for the first time I tried to start out with a strong deployment that didn’t leave me too open to that opening barrage (which makes putting the nob bikers on the flank a D’oh moment) and after that I just made it up as I went not really being quiet sure what those demons where capable of or where they where going to be for that matter (And I consider playing in a orky mindset always the best way to go when playing orks).
What did I learn? An army with eternal warrior can be really annoying (especially with those fiends) and multi charges can be devastating and probadly should be something I use more often with my orks.

Last, you can see more then just the black on my orks! (But yes I need to finish them….) And also I do believe we had lost track of turns since I do recall rolling to see if the game ends on what we thought was the end of turn five.

That definitely looked like a fun battle. You've got some nice looking models, and the terrain looks pretty cool too actually.

My only suggestion is to pleeeaaase review rules for the appropriate use of apostrophes. I hate to be too much of a grammar nazi, but their overuse ended up being pretty distracting in an otherwise well written and presented batrep.

Nice game! Looks like a ton of fun and two solid army lists too, which makes it much more interesting.

Nicely done.

very interesting Daemon list, lots of synergy! Nice Job!!

Not very keen on the ork list...3 Nob bikers? Kommandos and Burnas? it's usually one or the other.....also needs MORE BOYZ!!! just not enough bodies!

Good battle report!

Never underestimate those damn fiends! And yes he has a very strong list and plays it flawlessly. I look forward to facing him again with a little more sleep and a much better understanding of what the fiends are capable of. The ork list could be tweeked here and there but it's not always the list that does well the player behind it is everything.

Good rep as always will see you at the doules tournamet and hope to face you again

Anywhere worth being

@ the Ork player:

One thing you'll see consistently on these boards is that Ork armies need to be dedicated to either Mech or foot to be optimally effective. Mixing footslogging elements (foot boyz, Stormboyz, Dread, Kommandos) with Mech does not translate to the best results.

In an ideal Mech list, the only units you want on foot are some Lootas and possibly some Gretchin objective holders.

In a footslogging list, the Stormboyz and Kommandos work well, but mainly with a Kan Wall or Green Tide.

Simply put: You don't have enough bodies for a footslogging list, and there's too many footsloggers for a Mech list.

cool battle, seemed like a lot of fun to play. I especially liked your cactus and floating rock terrain, gave it a pretty alien feel.
