If you want decent get more crisis and drop atlest 2 of the firewarrior squads!
Edid: also downgreade the bodyguard to normal crisis and make them fireknives like the comander should be.
I would suggest 6 Fireknives and 3 deathrain suits to stard with a good base.
Also I would play the firewarrior squads a bit diffrent. I would play 8 bare firewarriors + a warfish for 200 each.
Pathfinders would also be a good choice IMO

Just looking at your list quickly (not being a Tau player), Drop the Shas'ui and marker drones, that saves you 80 points.
One Devilfish probably isn't worth it either. and apparently Fire Warriors are rubbish (I quite like them though....)
Your 3 crisis suit weapon config is all wrong. Anti-tank and anti-infantry on same model doesn't really work, especially in this case.
Sorry can't really offer much more advice than that.

2 Fire Warriors Squads Sound All Good, But They Are Pretty Decent With S5 Guns With 30" Range, So 2 of them at the back gives me 12 shots each and the fish one will give me 24 rapid fire, I'd Like to add more suits but if I do and it turns out to be an objective game which 2/3rds of the time it is then I've pretty much lost anyway.

Buzzsaw: I'm not sure what you have and what you don't, so I'll try to address several aspects of the tau codex.
First, fire warriors are pretty awful; kroot aren't much better, but at least they're cheaper, are WS4 and S4. To that effect, drop all the extra fire warriors except for a single min squad (because you have to take it as a 1+ choice). At 1500 I don't know that you have a whole lot of room to run a warfish (devilfish with smart missile, multi-tracker, targeting array, disruption pod) so I would just take a stripped-down d-fish with drones and a disruption pod. Just remember to disembark the drones along with the fire warriors so you can screen the fire warriors from charging.
So like I said, kroot are better than fire warriors. Kroot hounds are even better than carnivores, so generally you want to take as many kroot hounds and as few carnivores as possible. The reason kroot squads are better than fire warriors is because they get a nifty +1 to cover saves in forests, they outflank (via infiltrate) and they screen your suits (of which you will run many) from being charge by melee armies, as well as by providing a 4+ cover save when they get missiles shot at them.
As for your HQ, it's too expensive. You should always take the Shas'el as he's cheaper. The boost to the stat line isn't worth the 25 points. Tau aren't a point-efficient codex, but that doesn't give us license to throw away points on needless kit (like shield generators). I'd strip the generators from the HQ squad, cut down the Shas'o to an 'el, and give the body targeting arrays. That saves you 65 points and gives you a nice shooty HQ choice that has range, power and BS4 accuracy.
Now to your elites. The thing about the tau codex (and I got into depth on other tau army list threads about this--feel free to check out my profile if you want to read my doctoral thesis on the tau codex) is that our firepower is concentrated in the elite and heavy support slots (with a little in the HQ slot). This contrasts sharply with other codices, which have firepower spread across all FOC slots. So, tau want to maximize their firepower in the elite and heavy support slots. That leaves out the possibility of running things like stealth suits and hammerheads. I think you might be able to get away with running a hammerhead at 1500, but at 1750+ you want to run broadsides, because you can literally take two broadsides for the cost a single hammerhead, thus giving you access to double the railgun for roughly the same price. So, if you don't have any more broadsides, I suppose you could keep it in as-is (the kit you have on it is good--it's what I use). But if you have any more broadsides I'd run them instead.
So, as aforementioned, you want more crisis suits to flesh out the firepower in your elite slot. I'm a big fan of TL missile pods on my elite crisis suits (HQ suits usually get missile pod/plasma rifle because I can still make them BS4 by giving them hard-wired targeting arrays). Three crisis suits with TL missile pods and targeting arrays comes to 159 points. That gives you a unit firing six autocannon shots hitting on a re-rollable 3+. That's sexy. It's fragile, which is why you keep kroot nearby so you can jump-shoot-jump back behind them. But I think it's the best kit you can have on an elite crisis suit.
So, incorporating the foregoing, this is what I recommend:
1500/1500
--HQ--
1 Shas'el 87
-Plasma Rifle
-Missile Pod
-Multi-tracker
2 Bodyguard 164
-Plasma Rifle x2
-Missile Pod x2
-Multi-tracker x2
-HW Targeting Array
--Elite--
3 Crisis Suit 159
-TL Missile Pod x3
-Targeting Array x3
3 Crisis Suit 159
-TL Missile Pod x3
-Targeting Array x3
3 Crisis Suit 159
-TL Missile Pod x3
-Targeting Array x3
--Troops--
6 Fire Warriors 145
1 Devilfish
-Disruption Pod
10 Kroot Carnivores 106
6 Kroot Hounds
10 Kroot Carnivores 106
6 Kroot Hounds
--Heavy Support--
3 Broadside Battlesuit 250
-Advanced Stabilization System x3
-Team Leader
--HW Target Lock
1 Hammerhead 165
-Disruption Pod
-Railgun
-Burst Cannons
-Multi-tracker
That gives you 24 S7 shots, four railgun shots potentially shooting three separate targets, a mobile fire warrior squad with kroot backup and three plasma guns. You line up the crisis suits behind the kroot wall, jump-shoot-jump, keep the fire warriors mounted and make a dash for objectives near the end of the game, and generally pwn face with your heavy support slots.
If you don't have any of that, just PM me what you do have I can advise you from there.
Hope it helps.

Mostly Shield Drones in some places.

Shield Gens out for Target Arrays. Add Shield *Drones* instead. If a wound is caused that is AP3 or better, then likely it is a ML or LasCan, thus Instant Death for the suit, and you'd rather the SD takes the chance, and SDs are cheaper than Shield Gens by a bit. Off set by adding a BK to one guy, insuring Wound Allocation Shenanigans.
GoDz BuZzSaW wrote:Devilfish, Multi Tracker
DisPod is far better, but since you have points to spend, why not go whole hog for a Warfish? SMS, TA, Dispod, MT?
GoDz BuZzSaW wrote:12 Fire Warriors Pulse Carbines
Carbines? Really? And generally, 500 points per troop choice is reasonable, so you good ditch out one set of FWs. I'd Bond each of the others though.
GoDz BuZzSaW wrote:3 Crisis Fusion Blasters, Burst Cannons, Multi Trackers
Not the best combo. Alternatives have been suggested. Try either:
BC/ MP anti-Infantry
or
PR/ MP all round FireKnife
or
FB/PR anti-Tank/heavy infantry
... but *not* the ones you have as FBs are anti-Tank and BCs are anti-Infantry.
GoDz BuZzSaW wrote:3 Broadsides Target Locks
In 5th ed, I tried Target Locks, but found the RG doesn't pop tanks like it used to. Better to go A.s.s. and for certain, add Team Leader, 2 Shield Drones and Bond. Maybe hw Target Lock the Team Leader.
GoDz BuZzSaW wrote:Hammerhead Burst Cannons, Multi Tracker, Disruption Pod
Add a Target Lock for a little anti-I with the BCs when you Move Combat Speed to still shoot the RG at a Tank.
I tried not to re-write your list as the others have, just tweak to optimize it. Not 'perfect' but decent.

Really like this list, nice
but you cant have HW targeting array , but you can have HW multi-tracker so it doesn't matter.

Focused Fire Warrior

If you have the models, I would drop the pulse carbine squad, and add a devilfish. Keeps our squishy fire warriors safe, and can get around to capture or contest objectives. Kroot can outflank, and jump on objectives that way as well. The broadsides need advances stabilization systems, being able to move n shoot is great, hold them in reserve if needed etc. The missile pod plasma set up on suits also has been mentioned. It seems to be a great way to deal with small tanks and tough troops like termies (AP2!). This codex is having a tough time lately, it can win but you can't make any mistakes!
good luck

I'm going to have to go with the crowd here and re-inforce that your killing power is going to come from your Elites slot. @ 1500 points your elite slot should be full, and unless you are one of those stealth suit weirdos... it should be full of XV8's.
The fireknife is a versitile configuration, capable of supporting anti-transport in the early turns, and then turning on the plasma goodness for the mid-game. If you prefer your suits to fill dedicated roles, I would suggest the PR BC MT configuration (Blinding Spear) or PR FC MT (Helios) configuration for your anti-troop, with Deathrain's (TL MP + TA or TL MP + F). Any of these combinations is effective, it's all a matter of personal preference.

Right So I've Dropped The Carbine Squad And Added 16 Kroot, 12 Carnivores with 4 Hounds And A Shaper. I Want To Add More Crisis But Whenever I Play With 3 Squads Of FW's They Do A Good Job For Me And Can't See Where I Could Save 160 Points To Get Some, I See The Importance Of Many Crisis Dropping Down For Infantry Support And The Kroot Can Finish Off Any Leftovers By Outflanking But I Can't See Where I Could Get Any More In Unless I Try To Drop The Fish Squad :/
