I am going to have 5 SM terminators this weekend that I am going to try to make into Orks with Mega armour.

I cant seem to find any pics of anyone that has tried that.

If anyone has any pics that they would like to share with me for inspiration I would be oh so grateful.

I saw someone try that. However the Terminator's proportions are nowhere near that of an Orks, so it makes the legs look long and spindly. My personal advice: Bulk up the lower half area of the torso (groin included) and bulk out the legs. It should roughly have the profile of an upsized Boy.

I've seen quite a few people try it, Hell, even I've got some:

The biggest problem, as MechaEmperor said, is trying to match the proportions, Orks have shorter legs, longer bodies and longer arms than a human so you need to cater for that, mine are by no means perfect but I chopped the legs down a bit, rebuilt the arms and extended the bodies (as well as adding bulk) to try and make them about the right shape.

Yeah, there's no way a mek would turn down the offer of a nice suit of termy armour, but what mods woul be needed to actually fit a nob inside it? Fixing the proportions are the problem for both the mek and the modeller.

Extending the torso with a waist insert is fairly easy, the legs need a major rebuild or total replacement, the arms would probably only keep the shoulder pads but luckily the bare-armed look suits nobs anyway.

Yours are better than most I've seen, wib.

I really like how those Ork/termies look! Those are sweet. I think you could definitely pull it off man.

My only suggestion is to add a little more bulk to the legs of the termi/meganobz, they just seem a little thin to me. Other than that, nice work on the conversion wib, and good luck on your conversions stump

Just my 2 cents

I've seen quiet a few, one guy even just put an Ork head on a terminator body and called it good (I called it a fail). But those done by wib are probably the best I've seen.

As the others have said, bulk, bulk BULK. Especially the feet and legs. I tried to turn two AoBR termies into Meganobs. One became Robonob!, which is a cybork body, not mega-armour (and still got complaints that he was too dainty to be properly orky), and the other was so hideous it will never see the light of day except as "that primer only figure in the back that gets removed from play the first time the squad takes a wound".

Found these, they aren't Terminators to Mega Nobs but you could still use them as inspiration or referance if/when your cutting plasticard

Terminators and Orks don't share the same proportions. 99% of the time this kind of conversion looks absolutely awful because someone thought it would be a good idea to stick an Ork head on a Terminator. The image posted in the third post of this thread is actually the first good-looking attempt at this I've ever seen, and even then the proportions are sorta wack.

I like em. They look really good. Dont pay any attention to people who whine about proportions, they are close enough. Making a big deal about that seems a bit petty to me.

Ive been wanting to create a futuristic gladiator/arena combat game and a couple Orked out termies would be a perfect addition.

Thanks a lot for all the kind words guys. I'm aware of the skinniness of the legs but I thought they'd loose too much of the actual Terminator Aesthetic (what's left of it anyway) to cover them up. If anyone asks I'll just say they're the skinnier Nobz you get in Boyz boxes

Oh and good luck to you Stump, I can't wait to see how they come out.

grr.

Now that I have termies in hand I see the issues I face.

The nobs are bigger then the termies. Be kinda tuff to squeeze a nob in that armour no matter how mean the grots and big mech are.

Not sure how to make this work but I think I will have fun trying.

I'd bulk up the feet if I were you. Other than that, honestly....looks OK.

Could stand to bulk up the torso's, but I think fixing the feet would be enough to make them quite nice looking on a table.

Imo the best way to convert anything orkish, is to think like an ork.

How would a mekboy make termy armor usefull? cut it to pieces, add extra bits to make it fit an ork, replace generator with a proppa smoke spewing engine, add hydraulics.

The torso deffinitly needs to be bulked up because right now they look like Scrappy Doo when he has that huge head and little body in the Scooby Doo movie.

I agree about the torso.

I was trying to tell myself the grots and big mech just made these nobs go on a super diet to fit in there.

Gonna rethink this for awhile me thinks.

Yup. I am gonna have too. I was trying to keep it kinda simple. But no simple for me.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The thing is I wanted it to look like looted Termies.

If I go putting armour plates all over it the termie armour will get lost.

So....I have to figure out a good balancing act with these.

Get out some clippers, knives, files and a dremel if you have it and hack the crap out of that armour! Bulk it out with a beefy exoskeleton.

You were right in asking for suggestions but you turned around and ignored all of them by just sticking ork heads onto terminator bodies!

@Joyous - I listened but i couldnt do what I wanted and keep the termie feel.

I tried to beef up the upper legs and I think it helped but I am not happy with the total result.

I am almost wishing I would have left the termie idea alone and just platicarded the extra nobs I had.

I found I had to keep the NOB torso in order to keep the proportions right.

http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/?showtopic=40370

Basically from the terminator models, all I used was the 'boot' part, the shoulderpads and the backpack. The rest had to be scratchbuilt.

I would say plasticard is really your friend here, just adding additional plates here and there can really bulk out the armour. I mean, here's one of mine before painting, you can see that plasticard really makes up a fair deal of bulk (although mine were based on the old terminator models so they weren't quite as lanky to begin with):

Also some things I found that help:

-Add in a bit of a spacer between the shoulders and arms (I used sprue offcuts, which is also what the arms are mostly made of) , it gives them a bit more of an orky frame, just cover the gap up with additional shoulder pads or plating. Also the big jaw piece they have makes them seem a lot larger and also covers where the body has been extended to also add to a more Orky silhouette.
-Since Nobz are pretty big in comparison to a Space Marine, you might do better using Ork Boy heads, they aren't that much smaller but they do create the illusion of a larger body.
-I mentioned before about shortening the legs, it's a fairly big job but again really adds to the orkish look, I cut mine along the knee and took off a fair bit above and below (removing the kneepads essentially) then patched it up with greenstuff and covered the front up with armour plating.

That said, I'd say it's fairly obvious what they are and I do rather like the skorcha on the powerfist (If I make any more I may just steal that ) although I would say that the weaponry you've given them may be a little hard for people to follow, especially the sluggas since they can never be armed with those it may confuse people not familiar with the Ork codex and WYSIWYG players may take offence. You'd probably be fine using storm bolters as 'counts as' twin linked shootas but considering the already heavily converted nature of the squad, I'd keep it consistent for the sake of your opponent if little else.

Sorry if I sound critical, just offering advice from someone who's tried the same thing. I don't mean to come off as negative, I think you've got a great base to work from but just needs a little extra work to make it stand out and the end result will be worth it. Plus it's still cheaper than those damn metal ones

I gotta disagree with you. Although the legs seem a too bullky, he looks good for a wip. My idea is to downgrade the ork's head to a boy's head. the proportions may seem a bit easier to work with then.

You're not playing the game like I play it...why aren't you playing the game like I play it?! O_O
