Hello. I have read the novels of the first of Tanith and I loved the Vitrian dragoons. I've always wanted to do a regiment of them. I started with pencil sketches of what I had in mind. And a few days ago I finished the first thumbnail. I wanted to know what you think before you continue making more.

The first concepts:

The finish concept

The first miniature:

The next thing will make a small squad, before assembling the whole army. Any comments?

Love the design. There face reminds me of someone who is of mongolian descent. Did you make the body or buy it separate? Over all, a very well done job.

Thanks! The resemblance is intentional. For me, the vitrian are Arabs, or Arab reminiscent, so that kind of armor.

I have modeled from 0. It´s gray stuff.

You're a good artist but I don't think they look like that. They're much more high-tech. Reversible glass carapace armour. Also, They are Dragoons not dragons.

I think they're Black as in African.

IIRC, the armor was described as Lamellar in style, and they're only said to be dark skinned(dark skinned != black necessarily). The way they read, they seem to be based on Persian or Hindu(their honour code is called the Byhata) styling, Alexandros seems to be on the right track.

Since I didn't know the word Lamellar at the time I probably didn't pick up on that but if that's what it says then that's what it says.

I read that book when it originally came out so its been a while but I pictured them as Black Stormtroopers. However, Lexicanum confirms they are Persian or Hindu inspired which is probably even more interesting. So I think you're on the right track too Alexandros. Good Luck.

I note what you say also. I had read the novels and lexicanum, and some post in other forums. Perhaps they should look a little more technology, you're right.

Alexandros, are you gonna follow what Abnett wrote(mostly Lasguns with a few assault weapons), or are they going to be more armed along the lines of a normal regiment?

Isn't lasguns with a few assault weapons what a normal regiment is armed with?

This is great. I think you're on the right track with the Lamellar-styled armour, but I think that it should probably cover more of the body.

For the reversible glass idea to have any effect, it should probably extend over the shoulders and arms - at the moment it only covers the torso, but the rest of the guy is unprotected and visible.

In the same theme, maybe a visor would fit the 'glass camouflage' idea better than goggles?

Yeah, I guess it would be like Carapace armour but Lamellar-style.
Two different modes too which could both be modelled.

Great job sculpting. I read the book and they did seem a bit more high-teched. Course this guy could be like a scout or something. Scavenger maybe. Keep up the awesome work.

In the second drawing it is a bullpup design, with the magazine located behind the trigger assembly.

The modification on the miniature's lasgun brings to mind the modern day G36 design.

Still, damn fine look though.

Some nice sculptinhg! To me, I always imagined the dragoons would look like that, though I agree that from a 'realism' point of view, more lamellar armour might be appropriate.
