My first vehicle I've ever made and painted, I'm new and have only painted about 20 soldiers before this so bear with me.

If the regiment's name is the Granite 1st, shouldn't it be grey?

Looks pretty good. Really like the camo except for the fact that some of the green is just dotted and it looks kind of out of place and odd considering all the other colors flow a bit smoother. The text looks kinda sloppy but i like it because it's almost exactly like my chaos graffiti(like boo! on the opening hatch of a land raider) minus the blood red of your puny IG insides.

Life is short. When I'm around, life is shorter.

Kinda went for flecktarn camo because of its spottiness and granite is a alpine planet covered in mountains and flat wasteland areas.

The nice thing about graffiti on the dozer blade is it's perfectly ok to be sloppy, unless one of the crewmen happens to be a calligrapher. Tankers usualy aren't artists. Since you say you're new at painting I'll tell you somthing I've learned about painting camo.

In real life camouflage is used to make the details on a vehicle difficult to dicern. You have done a very god job at replicating a realistic camo pattern. However, on a model we don't really want to hide all that detail we've spent so much time painting. The trick is to come up with a camo pattern that looks realistic, but doesn't actualy obscure the vehicle. I'd recommend checking out the camo patterns on IG tanks at GWs website and also on Dakka's gallery to see some examples of that. I'm not saying to copy those schemes though. You have an East Germany-esque camo pattern here which is great. Just take some time to study the differences between model camo and real camo. A quick example would be to make it less busy. This type of camo pattern, which is realistic, doesn't necessarily scale down well. I would probably make all the different color swaths larger and wider to increase contrast, with fewer green dots.

Just some constructive criticism/advice. Ultimatly you need to paint it how YOU want it to look.

I like the camo, but the freehand on the dozer blade detracts from the rest of the work.

Agreed. Try to rework that freehand on the dozerblade. I get that you were going for that "slapped on" look, which works... but you have to do it right. It looks like it was painted on by a giant hand with a paint brush (which it was) instead of a guardsman with a can of spray paint.

I'd love to offer some advice on how to make it better.. but.. As a Tau player, I haven't had a lot of experience painting things like that, but I'm sure there are guides online.

On the other hand, the camo looks very decent, especially for an early attempt. With your future models, I would play into your strong suits (camo paint schemes, clean looking assembly) and stay away from some of the detractors until you have more practice.

Keep painting! You're off to a great start!

Nice Camo, the graffiti needs to be more graffiti with the letters go for straight lines that look like put on with a spray can.
