I was going through my decades worth of 40k books and White Dwarf magazines trying to find something interesting. My last 2 threads were so boring they put me to sleep. Im going to try a narrative thing here based on an entry in the old Codex: Armageddon book about an ork super Mek. Im also going to roll several armies into one thread starting with Imperial Guard and Orks. So, here goes nothing.....

As the 3rd Armageddon war raged, Imperial planners and Mechanicum officials began noticing a trend among the Ork armies. The Orks were equipted with exceptionally advanced and reliable weapons and vehicles. Captured Ork vehicles possessed parts and materials not found on Armageddon and the armies were heavily armed from the moment they landed. This was unusual since Ork meks usually salvage whatever they find to build bigger, better weapons, after they land. The Imperials came to the uncomfortable conclusion Ghazghkull one upped them again and must have a supply network set up off world. The decision was made to locate and destroy this network before things got further out of hand.

3rd Mordian Battlegroup: This is a standard Imperial army containing several Infantry, Armor, and Artillery Regiments. However a new formation was included for the Armageddon war which is designed to rapidly deploy for objective siezures, point rienforcement, and special operations. This is the Combines Arms Brigade which contains one Battalion each of Infantry, Artillery, Armor, and assorted auxillary and support units. We will be following the exploits of the 2nd Combined Arms Brigade. Hopefully. This Battlegroup was intended for an assault across the Ash Waste following the Season of Fire, but has been diverted to locate the Ork supply center.

The Bad Moons: Part of the bargain between Ghazghkull and Nazdreg was the transfer of technology and several very clever Meks. The head Mek was known as Orkimedes, a visionary weapons designer unlike anything Orkdom has ever seen. Orkimedes was set up on an abandoned Imperial world which the Orks stumbled across while prepairing for the invasion. He was allowed to maintain a small army, but could not arm it with anything heavy. Ghazghkull is no fool after all, and he wasnt about to let an ambitious Ork build an army behind his back. All of the materials produced are immediately shipped to Armageddon. Or so the Prophet thinks...........

The Goffs: Ghazghkull left a contingent of his most trusted Nobs and warbands to keep an eye on the Bad Moon Mek. The Goff Warlord in command has been with Ghazgkull from the beginning and would just as soon blast Orkimedes to Gork and Mork and handle the production himself.

At some point I will start a Space Marine army, just because. I havent decided anything yet except it will probably be a Blood Angels successor chapter since they have the coolest models out right now. For those of you who survived the text wall........

A few pics of the Goff garrison. The Goff warband is much more heavily armed than the Bad Moons. Since most of the rest of the greenskin population are gretchin, Ghazghkull decided on quality over quantity for his baby sitters.

Shank23, gpfunk, and cain thanks for the feedback the hunt has a long way to go.

Chocolategork- First time Ive seen them too, hope they look as cool as I think they will. The idea of making another Cadian army is too terrible to imagine.

Y'know, the Mordians look SO MUCH better with more subtle colorschemes! The khaki/blue makes them a lot more believable. And the heavy artilery really fits with the formal dress somehow: more of a Crimean War feel than WWI.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Company A has been completed and can be seen here on the parade fields on Mordian. The Company, for the moment, is armed with a deadly MK XX Lascannon. The weapon has greater traverse and elevation ability than the standard weapon. The Brigade will be outfitted with similar weapons if enough parts can be found on Forgeworld Ebay. The Company has been demonstrating the deadly Firing Line formation for the Battalion Commander. We also see members of the 2nd Battalion training on 2 light, man portable, mortars. These are employed when the larger Griffon Heavy Mortars are not available. Again, the B.C. grimly looks on.

Savnock: I know what you mean. The teal blue and yellow GW threw on the first wave of models just ruined these guys.

The Brigade Commander decided blue IG tanks just weren't going to cut it. The Deathstrike battery was immediately striped and painted a suitably drab grey. The 2nd Battalion utilizes Armored Sentinels to act as Outriders who scout the firing positions and protect the batteries from threats. Section A, pictured here, is armed with multi-lasers to engage infantry who get too close to the guns. The 3rd Battalion Commander is pictured in his personal Leman Russ Vanquisher. This is the coveted Stygies VIII model and does not carry side weapon sponsons. The Commander uses the extra space for communications and planning space inside the tank.

4 of Orkimedes' burnas are done, the first of many. No self respecting supamek would be without a mess of them. Also some WIP Mordians and 1 of 2 Medusa's which will fill out 2nd Battalion.

The first section of Leman Russ battle tanks have been completed and added to the 3rd Battalion armory. The Brigade breaks from the standard IG scheme by using simple star patterns to identify sections.

The updates aren't going quite as well as I would like. The units take a long time to finish and if I post as they are complete it will be weeks in between. So I am posting as I finish and when the unit is done add the story line. Here are the first 5 Stormboyz. They will belong to Boss Zagstruks "Vulcha's". He is currently WIP. Im thinking the Boss' transport will be a converted Storm Raven.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment schank23.

Looking good. I don't think you should wait until they are finished. This is the P&M blog forum, after all. Post what you've done every day or two of work. Or when ever, frankly.

Your yellow looks really good, and dirty, by the way. What is the mix if you don't mind?

I appreciate the comments gents. The yellow for the clothing is just Tausept Ochre with a wash of Devlan Mud. Makes it look grimy. The armor is Tausept Ochre, wash of Gryphonne Sepia, then kinda dry brushed to taste with a mix of Tausept Ochre and Golden Yellow. As for Orkimedes, I havent decided what I am going to do. He can be the Mek in the Stompa (which will be part of the Bad Moon army), a kit bash orkified GK Dreadknight, or I can go really GW fluffy and get one of the old OOP Orks, maybe from Gorkamorka. They are relatively skinny and frail compared to the newer models. In this form he could be one of the mysterious "Brain Boyz". That kind of fits in for my plan to develop the planet he found. I finished another batch of Mordians, think I have 70ish finished and 30 more waiting. Those are heavy weapon teams and commanders. A batch of Forgeworld awesomeness came yesterday: another Medusa and 2 more of the Krieg heavy mortars. I also got one of the the Badab War books, making me itch to build one of those SM armies. As for posting what I got.....

So I have finished the the 2nd Medusa and final 2 Heavy Mortars. Those Forgeworld guns look really cool. I also finished up a Goff Battlewagon, figured they needed some attention. Unfortunately, I have to change the direction of the project. I had intended a huge IG army: entire tank company, entire artillery company, 2 "Emperors Shield" infantry companies, Ogryns, Stormtroopers, Psychers, all sorts of good stuff. Then my wife asked the fateful question "how many more of these guys are you going to buy?". So now only about 100 Mordians, damn it. She didnt ask about the Orks so I am going to assume that part is ok. Im going to reorganize the army and post some WIP group shots tomorrow.

So this is the army to date, I was about half way to my goal. Anyway I have reorganized it into a platoon with 4 Heavy Weapon squads which will cover the 4 Veteran Squads. The support units are still planned but aside from a few more Mordians, this is the extent of the infantry. Im going to try and build Ogryns from WFB Ogres and some Psychers from Flagellants. Im going for 2 more Leman Russ Demolishers and 2 Chimeras. The overall command squad will still have advisors. Haven't decided if I will build a super heavy. Im going to build a Skullhammer and Stompa for the Orks so I may be super heavied out.
