The bitter defeat against the Dark Angels 1st Company left a sour aftertaste for the Sisters in the Order of Faith. Not because they lost a battle against heretics, but because they were betrayed by an Inquisitor Lord from the Ordos Hereticus. The Ordos Hereticus and the Adepta Sororitas shared a deep bond that went back to the Age of Apostasy, sealed by the Convocation of Nephilim. They shared a common goal and work towards that common end as allies. To have an Inquisitor Lord from the Ordos Heresticus betray the Sisterhood stung more than witch fire.

Canoness Dianus order her forces back to the Cardinal World Avignor for spiritual healing and to seek answers to questions left unsolved. ‘Who was that Inquisitor Lord?’ ‘What secrets does he hide?’ ‘Why was Belial, Master of Deathwing, making deals with Mortarion, Primarch of Deathguard?’ ‘Who is Cypher?’ By visiting Avignor, Dinaus prays she will find these answers and more through Cardinal Armandus Hellfire, a close friend to Inquisitor Lord Antonio and ally to the Order of Faith.

At the time, Inquisitor Lord Antonio, was away in the Black Ship Eternal conducting his own secret missions. With the help from Antonio, the Order of Faith were able to requisitions “Lady Luck”, a personal luxury transport ship for the governor of Arjax. Unbeknownst to the Order of Faith, Lady Luck was overdue in maintenance.

During their warp-jump back to Avignor, Lady Luck’s Gellar Field drive malfunctions, leaving the starship vulnerable to warp entities. Daemons immediately began tearing through Lady Luck’s hull and slaughtering its crew. As the Daemons venture deeper, they met heavy resistance from Sisters of Battle. With faith and fire, the Order of Faith holds off the Daemonic incursion long enough for the Lady Luck to make an emergency transition out of the warp back into real space. Without solid coordinates, Lady Luck is stranded in an unknown region.

Fortunately Lady Luck’s array sensors are still working and soon discover a planet. After arriving in orbit, the Order of Faith deploys landing crafts on the planet’s surface in search of supplies and clues to their location. But they are not alone. Lurking within shadows is a band of Dark Eldar raiders.

.....

“Well well, look what we have here,” Archon Kol’sac sneers as he peers through his riflescope. “A bunch of foolish monkeighs wanders into my grasp.”

A low chuckle startles the Archon. He quickly reaches for his splinter pistol only to find his holster empty.

“Why so tense my Lord? Looking for this?”

Kol’sac turns around and sees Vivi, a Hekatrix in his personal Wych cult retinue, twirling his splinter pistol. Kol’sac scowl.

“Vivi, how many times did I tell you? Don’t sneak up on me unless…”

“…we are in your bed room.” Vivi finishes his sentence.

Kol’sac grins and hands Vivi his riflescope.

“Take a look, these monkeighs are different than the others we've seen. They are female and equipped like the corpse Emperor’s favorite toy soldiers.”

“I see. They would make perfect play things in my arena.”

“Then, let’s welcome our guest. I’d hate to keep them waiting.”

Spoiler:
Victory for the Sisters of Battle!

Afterthoughts:

This was my first time playing against the new Dark Eldar. The Dark Eldar player got really lucky and rolled a 6 for his combat drugs. He also had an interesting tactic where he used his Kabalite Warriors as bait. Once most of my forces were close he attack me with his reserves. Unfortunately for him, I had a lot of vehicles and strong fire support. I locked down his anti-mech, making it harder for his infantry to deal with vehicles.

Overall the Deathwing player from my previous match won 2nd place after losing to a Space Wolf player, who won 1st place. I won 3rd place overall and receive a small prize. Despite the second round bad match up, I had a lot fun. Most of the players that attended were veterans and well verse in tactics. My local Games Workshop is hosting another tournament, this time 1500 points. I'll see if I can make it.

.....

Kol’sac laughs as he slices another Battle Sister with his Huskblade. The mere touch sucks the moisture out of his victim turning the Sister into an empty armor with a mummified corpse.

“Jeeze, don’t kill them all. We still need prisoners,” said Vivi.

“But their screams of agony makes me feel alive.”

“Keeping them alive and nurturing them with torture will make their pain and misery last longer. We will…”

Vivi doesn't finish her sentence as a bolter cuts her off. Her head suddenly explodes, spraying blood and brain matter all over the Archon.

Kol’sac turns to where the shot came from and discovers he’s surrounded.

“Sisters, purge them!” shouts a Celestian.

In unison, the Sisters open fire, bathing the Archon and his Wyches in a storm of burning promethium rain of bolters. Amid the inferno, Kol'sac still stands, protected by his Shadow Field. Finally a stray bolter round penetrates the shadow field and lodges deep into the Archon shoulder blade. The shadow field deactivates, exposing the Archon. Kol’sac hisses in pain. He lunges toward the Celestians and guts one with his Huskblade, turning the Sister into a shrivel husk. The remaining Celestians attack the Archon at once, wrestling him to the ground.

“Secure the prisoner,” order one of the Celestians.

The last thing Kol’sac saw was a Battle Sister ramming the butt end of her rifle into his face before he blacked out.

Great battle report and good battle against DE. That must be Tom's army, right? Wyches with FNP is annoying, that's for sure. Kinda like my nids with FNP.

That 2nd game Deathwing/KP mission kinda screwed you over. I was thinking that you would get 1st place. Oh well, better luck next time.

I've had one game vs the new DE against a very similar list but at 1500 points and I managed to get a draw out. I don't use so many Celestians or Melta-guns however. My Sister squads are Brazier, H.Flamer, Flamer. Just for pure target saturation. Sounds bizarre but it works better then Meltas. However Meltas are probably better in an all corners list. Still, I love my H.Flamers ;-D

Had to use the terrain to it's full and try and "filter" his Wyches in to a funnel for me to take out.

Was lucky with one shot though - took out a Ravager with Exorcist and pinned his Wyches. Next turn I shot them up a bit more and they fled!

Still a very tough game but not un-winnable.

Great report and game too

I have played DE twice with my SoB (list is really similar to yours but I swap in another standard SoB squad for the Seraphim) and I massacred them both times. The 48" range of the Exorcists are brutal and AP1 shots at AV 10 and 11 open topped vehicles just wreck house. Once the DE are dismounted, SoB DG flamer goodness is just a killer against Wyches, and Wracks.

Only three rounds in an 1850 game? What was the time limit?

Yeah, it was Tom's army. I was surprised he didn't field more Raiders and Talos like he usually does. I guess he's slowly upgrading his old Raiders to new Raiders. IMO he would have been better off fielding venoms with blaster true borns.

FNP wasn't much of a problem. My army packs a punch in close range shooting.

Depending on my army composition, I usually take 2 BoHF + Melta + HF and 1 BoHF + Melta + HF. Triple template with 14 Bolter shots and divine guidance is great against MEQ and horde.

Yeah, being AP1 and enemy vehicles open topped made it reallly easy. Exorcists are definitely one of the best tank-killers in 40k.

Each round is 2 hours long, but the tournament organizer started us a half an hour late. Had the game continued, I would have tabled Tom.

Now thats just unfair, forcing me to read a battle report between my two favourite armies (Dark Eldar and Sisters). For shame, SabrX.

All joking aside, great report! I think your opponent made too much of a gamble with his massed assault on turn 2. You were in a perfect position to counter-attack him with almost your entire army (which you did), and he put too much faith in his Feel No Pain, which did not pay off at all. He really should have hung back with his Wyches until his Ravagers arrived.

Otherwise, great battle report and congrats for doing so well in the tournament. It's always nice seeing Sisters of Battle in the final 3.
