OK, converted and scratch built a few models over the years, but never let anyone other than my son know about them, so thought it was about time to share. This is my take on the Doom of Malan'tai, currently WIP. I figured it has to be big to consume an entire craftworld, and wanted an imposing model, so didn't want to go with a Zoanthrope base. I also wanted to go with something pretty much like the Codex artwork, so started with an old Hive tyrant head, extending it a lot and working it with milliput. I was then sorting through some old stuff and found an old Halcyon Alien model I made years ago, which got me thinking...as the 'Doom has definite "Alien" overtones, I could probably use that as a starting point. Much green stuff later, this is the result - what does everyone think?

Love it. It looks menacing, and unique, like the creature should.

I had initially thought the same thing (had an awesome idea based on the Trygon kit) but the fact that the Doom isn't a Monstrous Creature suggests that it actually isn't[ significantly larger than a regular Zoey.

Having said that, you've assembled an awesome stand-in for it

I quite like it, its just a big head on a tail really aint it? I like that its such an abomination that its lost its body entirely and is just the head. What colour scheme were you going to paint it in and what size base is it on, I can see you have put it on the old ruins, but is it on a monster base or something underneath?

Also any other converted pieces that you would care to share?

That opens up a whole new debate! I'd say that being a monstrous creature isn't just about size - but I take the point! :-)

I had a look at those links and I really like the Kraken super heavy. That light fighter plane kinda looks like a Deathglider from the stargate series. Thats some good work though.

I can dig it. I would definitely like to see it painted!

So I've been travelling a lot recently but I did manage to start painting the 'Doom. Here are some WIP shots. Base is supposed to look like the grass etc is withered around it, but again it's only WIP. Sorry about the poor shots, didn't want to use flash and wanted to post before morning as I'll forget otherwise, will replace with decent pics when finished.
