So I've started sculpting my own chapter of CSMs. They are similar in appearance to the Thousand Sons, except delve even deeper into the Egyptian appearance. They are the 'Sons of Apep' (Apep being the hated Egyptian snake god of the night). I'm writing out a chapter history for them, though not quite sure if they will have an actual link to the Thousand Sons. This project will be very intensive as I plan on reconstructing many of the sculpts to fit the theme.

Currently I'm working on a full set of Egyptian-esque chaos terminators. You can picture them as a combination of the CSM terms and Fantasy Warhammer's Ushabtis. I'm also sculpting a full set of scenic bases for them with desolate Egyptian ruins covered by sand.

I plan on casting these sculpts once I'm finished if anyone would be interested. I'll post continuous updates as I complete pieces.

I really like the idea behind this. Perhaps you could cast yourself a load of heads? Variation is good, but so is consistency. I'll keep and eye on this thread .

More updates coming tomorrow... I finished a new helmet tonight but I'm too exhausted to take pics hah. It's a scarab lord helm and turned out very well (in my opinion). Working on a terminator chest and then legs next.

By the way, if anyone would like to throw out some ideas towards the legion's history, feel free to do so.

Perhaps Anubis and/or Apep were actually Chaos Gods? The Egyptians worshipped them, but when the ancient's empire collapsed the gods weakened but resurged when a small fringe world began o worship them?

The Imperium using advanced technology is like drinking Pepsi out of a Coke bottle.

Update!

Here is the scarab helmet for a CSM Lord (or similar type of unit).

Edit: Still a few more touch ups to do, but for the most part finished.

Scarab helm is very neat although theres a nagging feeling that it is not symmetrical

Is it suppose to be like that? (I know it is chaos but this is bugging me, no pun intended)

They should be pretty symmetrical - I'm pretty anal about that. It might just be that both photos were taken at a very slight angle.

I'm very interested in this. Subbed. Can't wait to see more. What kind of color scheme are you thinking of doing?

I'm toying around with that now, but I was thinking emerald green with gold trim (although that might be too close to the Thousand Sons). I was also thinking of a majority of metallic and gem colors - mostly gold. I need to fool around more. Any ideas?

The problem with doing any Egyptian theme is going to be hitting to close to 1000 sons. The Blue/Gold combo is always fantastic for Egyptian. Emerald Green might look nice, but I'd want to see a test mini before anything with that one is decided.

But a lot of gem colors sounds great. If there's any flowing bits like tabards or loin cloths, they should probably be a mix of gold and a papyrus/creamy white. Or some kind of black. You could probably get a lot of help with color scheme from the mummy's from fantasy battle. Forget their names.

Here's a concept sketch for another one - the Thoth Terminator

Yes I plan on casting and then probably distrubting, but let me get more stuff made before anyone gets too carried away hah.

I'm also currently working on stuff for other armies, such as some custom Space Wolves, Salamander/Red Dragons, and even messing with some Tyranids.

Paulson Games and Chapterhouse Studios sadly lack much in the way of Chaos; I prefer the former over the latter, but I honestly think you should try sending some of your sculpts to one of them so us fellow Chaos players can benefit!

That I like! Apep-followers for normal/Tzeentch guys, Anubis-followers for mayeb Nurgle-marked fellows?

Have you thought of picking up some new Tomb Kings and raiding the bits? It might save you some work...

Keep it up! Loving the sculpts!

I use some of them for reference and inspiration, however I'm trying not to use any bits that I don't physically make myself. That way, if I ever do sell a sculpt, the legality will be a lot easier to approach.

How does that song go again? "You take the high road and I'll take the low road"? I guess the hard way may be the best way in this case.
