I have recently ordered a Warhound titan and there's a few things i'm not to sure about that I would like to ask yall for help.

A. Is it better to base the model or just leave it as is?
B. What colors do yall think I should paint it? I am using it for my dkok, Main color is Codex Grey. ( Haven't posted pictures yet due to been able to find my cable to my camera) but I'm basing them with a snowy urban environment. I also dont know much about titan lore so I'm unsure who the titans really belong to.

I would base coat it because painting every square inch would be such a pain. Black would probably be the best primer color. Codex gray, boltgun metal, chainmail, brass, and a couple of washes would be really cool colors. Hope this helped.

The Titan Legion it belongs to isn't part of the IG army it's fighting with, so feel free to paint it differently than your DKOK army. You may actually want to paint it quite different as painting it the same will make it less...special? I mean, those bad-boys ain't cheap. You want it to stick out with pride!

Titans belong to a Titan Legion. Titan Legions are part of the Divisio Militaris arm of the Adeptus Mechanicus Collegio Titanicus. That is, a Titan Legion is like a Space Marine chapter...sort of. Like the IG and the Sisters and the Marines, they're their own thing.

I'd check out BOLS. They have some decal sets and such and you can check out some paint schemes. Titans tend to be very individualistic, regardless of the Legion. The only really uniform thing seems to be the heraldry.

I don't have one, but some of my group do and none of them base theirs. They're just too frikkin big.

Thanks, that really helped with the background knowledge and with different paint schemes. I'm going to make sure this is my best looking unit. I know a tau player down here who bought a Manta and the paint really doesn't look that good : /, I know that if im going to spend this much, im not going to make it look like crap.

Well I might base it if you plan on displaying it from time to time. Make it so it can come off the diplay as well. It will be easier to move on the table without a base.

What would I use for a base?

cut down some chipboard or something. I've mostly seen it as thin wood plinth on giant models at any rate.

For your camera does it use a SD card? If it does and your computer has the correst dock then you can upload using it, if your computer doesn't have the dock then you can get a USB conveter that you plug the SD into and the converter plugs into a USB dock.

My personal recommendation is to forgo the use of a base at all. If you MUST have a base, I would cut one out of MDF board for each foot and cut it out slightly larger that the footprint. My reasoning is that, if you put him on a base that connects both legs, how will you have him straddle a ruin or move through trees well? No basing (or minimal basing per foot) will allow you to have one foot on a rubble base and the other in the street, providing you some very important cover.

I'll toss a pic of what I did as an example when I get home from drinking and jamming tonight. On second thought, maybe tomorrow...

Thanks guys for all the advice, for what Ghidorah said I don't think i'll be basing it.

And for what Mortalitas said, i'm thinking about just using my phone. It goes from 10 MP to 3MP, but idk. we'll see what happens.

Where is my WIP for my Titan. Mainly the head and the insides and done.
