Nice old school style! The best thing about the old Vindi's is that they're like holding a brick - all but one side of the Rhino chassis is covered in pewter!

Love the freehand on them and while the script is everywhere, it doesn't seem excessive, but more a part of the overall scheme.

The red of that gunner is very interesting, care to share your color scheme?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Very neat models. I like the text effect all over them. Well done!

the red is blood red, painted on white primer, and very watered down on the flat areas. after i get a decent red, then its off to a quick wash of chestnut ink and dry-brushed blood red on top, and some fiery orange to build out the highlights.

Which side is that?

Those are very nicely painted vindicators, how did you get the writing so neat? mine usually ends up all over the place.

Man, I had forgotten how bad the old sculpts were. Thats impressive work and it looks really good

Very cool! There's enough freehand script to fill a few books. Very nice, especially with those ancient sculpts.

not to make myself sound like an elitest, god knows im not, but really, there ISNT a great way to do the scrawling and scribbling. i normally start off with skill white, super watered down, like 7:1, maybe a little less, then get the finest brush i have (normally a 10/0, one particular is an armory brush where the tip has curved, leaving a very fine, but left hooked tip) and then start scribbling. just work your hand back and forth on the model, almost dotting it, but instead of leaving the model, i just keep it on the model. to seperate "words" i just back the brush off a little.

this will sound stupid, but when i am scribbling, (my dreadnaught is a regular black reach dreadnaught that has scrawling all over it. in fact, most people think its a venerable dreadnaught) i will talk to myself. i know, just bear with me and quit looking at your computer monitor like that. i will talk to myself and tell myself about some of the battles he has been in, and then as i say it, i "write" it in scribbles.

dumn huh?

thanks for the compliments all!

Just like your other work, very clean. I personally think the script is a little overdone. But as it turns out, not my army. So with that inserted it has been executed with great skill and dedication that I certainly appreciate.

Love those old-school vindi's! Excellent job. Agree on the tech marine... nice addition.

The bottom.

The old vindi was a conversion kit for the rhino, just like all the old space marine tanks: plastic chassis, pewter upgrade packs. The only exception to this was the original predator with the round top turret, which was all plastic and had the old lascannons used on the original landraider. It was then replaced with a pewter upgrade that had a smaller round or rectangular turret. Here's one of the originals with LR guns converted to magnetize to the sponsons (mine):

and one of each of the second version (not mine):

Sco77y, I laughed reading your "technique" for the script - sounds like something I would do! I talk to my models during assembly, encouraging them to behave and cooperate lest they be doomed to a life of shame covered in gluey fingerprints.
