You see a lot of comments about 40k players switching to fantasy...but not the other way round.
Has anyione gone directly from Fantasy to 40k, or it is a natural progression to move the other way??

Fantasy was my main game back in the hazy days of the mid 90s I also dabbled in Necromunda and then went to 40k in what was the last year or so of 2nd.
Cue massive 10 year plus break and I came back to the hobby and choose to focus on 40k as it was/is the biggest game of the time.
Ive since gone back to WHFB and even collectedd HEs again out of nostalga and for all the changes since I started playing it again it still feels familar.

I would imagine that because 40k has more...eh...it's advertised more in the form of games (Like the popular Dawn of War series, and now the Space Marine game) and the not too recent movie that people pick up 40k first then switch to fantasy to try out the other version. I've got a friend though who hates the 40k setting so he jumped straight into fantasy and doesn't play 40k.
Outside of the tabletop, the only love I know that fantasy gets is in the form of a few pc games, that all sort of sucked.

Poned? as in pwned? Eh, it was fraught with issues early on. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it lasted maybe a year or so before people started leaving in droves. Why oh why they made so many servers is beyond me.

I used to play fantasy exclusively then secondary 40k. I lost a bit of interest with 7th (I started on 5th, 6th was a shift in the right direction 7th was meh and 8th while fun, isn't the game I want to play) so I focus more on 40k. Also players are easier to find.

Because it was mega crowded at first and ORVR was impossible. The early sieges were multi-hundred people battles. The problem with any MMO like that is it is entirely dependent upon player population.
"THESE DESERTED FIELDS ARE MINE MINE MINE!"
I had fun in the game, however.

Honestly fantasy is more fun than 40k and also a little more balanced (not perfect but still better than 40k by a lot).
The models for fantasy look much better when you have a full army sitting there and fantasy gives you more choice other than where as 40k has what power armor which is so common.
Point being more choice and cooler stuff and its addictive.

At my FLGS we ALL play primarily Fantasy (about 3 years now) and a few months ago we all decided to start 40k as well. But fantasy is still our main game and always will be... you can never beat a pure fantasy setting - ever!
