THREADS I

Hey all!
So after discussion in the ‘40k Single Miniature Painting Competition’, I decided to start up my own competition of sorts. This one, however, is more focused on the journey of producing the model, rather than just painting a model in secrecy and unveiling it on the last day (Golden Demon style). See either of the Pimp my Wizard/Sorcerer challenges for something in that vein. Interested yet? On to the basic rules:
-Models can be based in an setting or universe, as long as they are wargaming miniatures.
[b]-Any non-vehicle/walker model is allowable to be entered.
-This competition is open to all members of DakkaDakka (so sign up today to join in the fun!)
-Anything goes (conversion wise): Random parts, sculpting, scratch building etc. are all allowable; the more you do the better!
-Entrants may submit EITHER:
1) Up to two (2) single “character” miniatures. (40mm base or smaller)
2) Up to one “squad” (3-10 miniatures).
-To participate, you must promise to update at least once a week on this blog, though not necessarily with pictures. WIP pictures are not part of this posting requirement, but as they are part of the final entry it can never hurt to post them up. I understand we are all busy this time of year, so a simple "I'm pretty busy, haven't had much time" will suffice for a few weeks.
*I will not be checking to make sure that you post once EVERY WEEK, but if at the end I have no record of you posting, then your entry may be subject to investigation by the Inquisition and potential disqualification.
----DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT NOVEMBER 31st, 2011; Any entries after midnight will be disqualified. (I am not going to mess with time zones, hopefully this competition will be long enough that that is not an issue.)
FINAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
-Final entry must consist of one(1) WIP picture (pre-painting), and two(2) finished pictures.
-Finished pictures must be taken against a white or semi-white sheet of paper, for uniform look.
-Pictures should be posted to the Dakka gallery, and then PM me the link (for the voting thread). Finished pictures should also be posted here, though it does not have to be before the deadline.
-Included with the final entry must be a few sentences of fluff containing background information on the characters or squad.
After the deadline has passed, a 2 voting threads will be posted in the P&M Showcase forum, where the miniatures can be voted on by Dakka users. These two categories will be painting and modelling. I will also be posting a YouTube slideshow and a BlogSpot feature on this competition so as to show off all the great work (credit will be given to all entrants).

Okay, so pitching some ideas for my entry:
Tyranid hybrid: these for an upcoming campaign. Looking to make something alien and creepy.
Bionic marines: ongoing project, might take it to the next level.
Inquisitor: I've got a base model, but not too keen on converting metals. Hmmmm....

I say tyranid, simply because i dont love inquisitor models, nor space marines...but i may do a space marine as my choice

Why the limit on it needing to fit either 40k or WHFB? Doing a mini for Warmachine, Hordes, D&D, etc. not okay?

This is for the sake of my time, in not having to create tons of different rules/limitations and voting threads for the genres. However, I think I might add an "other" category for those of you who want to participate as well.

Wow, I did not expect to have a chance to win an actual prize. Those would be cool to paint.

Question: Can one enter a project that is ongoing or should this be something new for the contest? i.e. I have a squad of IG vets that are completely modeled and converted, but still have a lot of work on the painting. Legal entry or no?
