Mars has recently decided that Thunderhawks and the new Stormraven utilised by the Blood Angels (and Grey Knights) are too small and not powerful enough to tackle the lastest threats to the Imperium, such as new, unseen Necron equipment, Dark Eldar Jet Fighters and new Tyranid Bio-Specimens.

The Tech-Priests have, under the direct command of the High Lords of Terra, restarted construction of the Great Crusade's Warhawk IV Gunship or "Stormbird." However, they have made several modifications to better improve it.

the Warhawk IV coukld carry the equivilent of a full battle company. The Warhawk V exchanges half of this area for the same Vehicle Transporting abilities of the Thunderhawk Transporter, as well as several powerful weapons.

In the centre of the ship is a vehicle storage area, containing four pairs of powerful Magna-Clamps. These allow the Warhawk to carry a pair of Land Speeders or Rhino variants such as Razorbacks, Predators, Vindicators, Whirlwinds or even Immolators, Excorcists and Repressors if required. It can use a pair of clamps to hold a Dreadnought, even the gigantic Contemptor Dreadnoughts(n They fold up their legs). The Warhawk can also use all of its clamps to carry a Land Raider of any kind.

The Warhawk can hold 30 Battle Brothers in the cabin and in the rear cargo area, normally used for ammo and supplies, is room for another 20 Battle Brothers.

The armament of the warhawk is some of the most powerful ever seen on such a Vehicle. On each side of the cabin, between a pair of pressure doors is a pair Godhammer pattern Lascannons, as well as another pair on each side of the rear cargo area. On the support strut for the vehicle carriage area is no less than 6 pairs of Heavy Bolters, 3 on each side. Under the wings of the Stormbird is 8 Hellvolley missiles. Thease missiles combined the penetrative pucnh of the Stormraven's Bloodstrike Missiles with the sheer destructive capacity of ther Hellstrike missile.

The main weapon of the Warhawk is its dorsel mounted cannon. This mostly a Baneblade Cannon, though some hold the magnificent Volcano Cannon, capable of slaying titans and obliterating entire Regiments of Leman Russ in a single shot.

Only 15 Warhawks are currently in service. The Lord of mars has hand chosen the Chapters to have them.

The Ultramarines have 2. Skies of Macragge and The Blue Consul.
Blood Angels, with their amazing ariel prowess, also have 2. One of these have the deadly Volcano Cannon. Pride of Baal and Blood Skies
The Hawk Lords, renowned as the graetest gunship pilots, have 2.
Space Wolves have been entrusted with one, Jaws of the Sky Wolf on recommendation of the Dark Angel's, though Mars is not happy with it.
Raven Guard have one armed with a Volcano Cannon, although regulations ahve been enforced to only use them in direst of circumstances, Raven's Talon has been a great asset to Kayvaan shrike over the last few months.
The Salamander's Warhawk, the Fire Wyvern is much lookeed after. Martian Priests are pleased.
Ther Dark Angels have 2, The Lion's Wings and Caliban's Vengeance.
The Imperial fists were only too keen to recieve the Fist of Terra, and the Priests were only too keen to give them it.
The White Scars are grateful for the Warhawk though Khan's Thunder sees little action.
The Grey Knights have 2, Daemon's Bane and Nemisis Rumours of the Grey Knights replacing the Hellvolley missiles with anti-Psyker missiles persit, as do rumours ofn them adding warp Stabilization Fields and Truesilver armour.

Vehicle Transport
The Vehicles may begin on board the Warhawk. They may be tarnsported carrying a squad.

When disembarking, in the Warhawk moved more than 12" then it must deep strike ionto a point moved over by the Warhwak. They may not disembark if the Warhawk disengaged this turn. If the Warhawk Is moving as a flyer, they must also take a dangerous Terrain test. Land Speeders do not take a dangerous terrain test, and only scatter D6". Vehicles unable to deploy are destroyed as per 1-2 on Mishap table. If the warhawk did not move(using Hover Mode), then the vehicle simply disembarkls. The Warhawk and vehicles amy then move as normal. Vehicles Transported when the Warhawk is wrecked take a Str 6 Hit on the rear armour. If it explodes this is a Str 4 hit for the explosion radius as normal, but followed by deep striking onto the board near to the warhawk as possible, and a Str 8 hit on Rear armour. If the Warhawk suffers an Apocalyptic Explosion, the Vehicles take a Str D hit. Vehicles Transported can not be targeted and are not affected by Shaken or stunned results suffered by the Warhawk.

Vehicles embarking must move within 6" of the cargo bay. This may only be done if the Warhawk moved less than 12" this turn.

It seems a little over-the-top for Space Marines; they tend to field smaller detachments in most conflicts and only come together as an entire Company on rare occasions. A big sledgehammer of this sort seems a little more suited to the Imperial Guard, Navy, or Adeptus Titanicus; Space Marines don't generally run massive ordnance or horrifically gargantuan things.

If you really want to use it, I'd suggest giving it AV 11 rear, no Void Shields, and the Manta's "massive gigantic target that you can hit on normal BS" rule; the points cost looks fair with those alterations.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

clearly you have never read the horus hersey books. These things are legendary. The Space marines would love this what are you talking about. Crusade Chapters would replace Thunderhawks most likely.

Deadshot I must say this is awesome! I really like the rules and the points seem fair for what it is, especially with the transport rules Obviously you put a lot of thought into this, now I really wish I could convert something to physically suit this beast! Also why no love for the Iron Hands ? How do you think they would feel being one of the original legions with no new shiny stormbird

What about void shields? I don't see any rules for flyers with voids in any book I have read.

I guess that when this thing is flying it does not have the 12 rule. Or maybe you could give it like a 3 inch rule or 6 inch. And that the 12inch rile only applies when skimming.

I thought that it should have double the capacity of a TH Transporter, but with my simplified version of the vehicle embartion rules, thought it would be OP, and decided to give it the same capacity, more troops cap, more SP and voids, better armour, and the ability to transport a pair of speeders or use 1 clamp for each dread.


Taking an extra pair of clamps per vehicle allows me to justify the simple transport rules, becuase the extra clamps mean the Warhawk can move faster and still get a clamp on.


2 LR would be OP.

The abilty tio transport a pair of Land Raiders around on an Av 14/13/12, melta immune vehicle that moves 36" per turn, can always fire its weapons, carry 50 models, and exchange a LR with a pair of Speeders or Rhinos, and 1 rhino/speeder with 2 Dreads.

Access-1 on front of cabin., 2 at each side, 1 at rear of cabin, 2 at each side of rear.

Range Str AP Type
72" 7 3 Heavy 1, 1 shot only

To fire the Flamestorm Missile, place the blasrt marker on the target and check if it is range. After scatter, place the Hellstorm Template with the small end directly over the central hole of the blast marker, facing a direction rolled on the scatter dice. Use the small arrow if a HIT is rolled. It is then treated like any other template.


Spedcial Rules

Vehicle Transport

Vehicles that suffer any damgae form the Firebird being destroyed also count as melta.

Pheonix Incarnate
The Firebird is never affected by any weapon that uses flame as its effect, so that includes Flamers, HF, FSC, Dragon Fire Rounds, or melta weapons.

In addition, it may do up to 4 Inferno!es per game.
