Well hey there. This is going to be my project log for my 40k Daemons Army. I've been in the hobby for 7 years but I've never actually had a full army. Always bits and pieces. I'm a die hard Tyranid fan and always will be, but I'd really like to start a daemonic race, simply because daemons (demons?) are badass and fun to make. I got a box of Bloodletters at GW yesterday at the store opening. My le girlfriend, The Undertaker, got her first set of Warhammerz (Necrons).

Anywho, a generic theme of my army will be no eyes. None of my dudes will have any eyes. When things don't have eyes, they look approximately twelve-hundred times creepier.

I'm not going to have one of the Chaos branches (Nurgle, Khorne etc). I want to have my own insurgence of daemons spilling out of the warp. A new breed of ultimate fighters. I hope that's alright and I'm still allowed to play games at GW...If not, I'll just have to focus all firepower on slaughtering Necrons.

Some notes on my army...
-No eyes
-Pink fleshy bits, like the inside of a snake mouth. Blackish shells
-Skull heads, lower jaw is skin
-Tentacles, poky gribbly things
-Inspired by Tyranids
-Lots of mouths and tongues and wet glossy teeth
-No artificial armor etc (sword hilts will be sculpted around, armor trim non existant and sword blades will be painfully growing out of the arms of the daemons.

I've got some sketches of what I'd like my first squad (Bloodletters) to be like, which will sort of set the tone and theme for the rest of the army.

Awesome! I've been thinking about the same thing myself, for lesser daemons - I'll probably use pink horrors, turn the mouth around so that they don't have the underbite, and sculpt over the eyes - I totally agree - daemons without eyes are much creepier.

Btw, this could be a great inspiration:

So chaos undivided, will they be used as blood letters without khorne markings?

Thanks buddeh, that site is amazing and for some reason I haven't seen that daemon yet. Very inspiring, and love the colours on it

Yup, all my units are going to be the units in the codex, but no chaos markings at all. I want to have a completely separate army.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Attached is a sketch I did of a flamer idea I had. Basically I would use a genstealer as a base model and sculpt around it. Mostly bones, dripping chaotic fire.

Also a couple pictures of what I aimed for in the first sketches. I know, it's not much right now but hopefully I'll have the squad done by the end of the week. It's end of term so I'm super busy with school and I work on weekends. Sadly not much time for the warhamz.

[Thumb - flamersConcept1.png]
Flamers of Tzeentch concept. Not your traditional flamers. Head was inspired by this caterpillar head I saw awhile ago (all bulbous). Thinking of using OSL when it comes time to paint, so I can give the effect of fire by glowing the inner neck ribs.

[Thumb - bloodletter1.png]
Gave this guy a buzzcut and a green hat.

[Thumb - hellblade1.png]
The drawing of the hellblade I did wasn't very clear so here's a rough block-in of what I am aiming for. Can't wait to GS some stretched skin on that bad boy.

Oooh that thing is sah-weet. And yes it's very similar but I promise I didn't steal the idea

Thanks Brehaut!

Well guys, I've got some more sketches to throw your way as well as some sculpting work. Progress is slow and purposeful.

Stay tuned! I'll be uploading some Daemonette sketches (bewbs!) either today or tomorrow. Not sure what the site restrictions on nudity is, so I'll probably just link them to my Deviantart.

[Thumb - bloodletter002.png]
Alright. I haven't sculpted in ages so go easy on me. The next one is better, promise.

[Thumb - bloodletter003.png]
See? Told you, much better looking. I can't wait to improve. By the time I'm done this squad, my daemonprince will be looking fiiiiiiine

[Thumb - flamersConcept002.png]
Alright, so here's what my flamers of Tzeentch will look like. They will be using genestealers as base models. I did this on the bus so the shape is pretty off, but that's the jist of it.

[Thumb - flamersConcept003.png]
Here's what the hands should hopefully look like. I'll likely be making a mold. 8 genestealers times 4 of those...Jeezus...Yeah, a mold will be in order.

[Thumb - randomDemonConcept001.png]
This one is a random demon design. Might use it for a unit later. Just gettin' ideas down.

[Thumb - randomDemonConcept002.png]
More random demons. This guy doesn't have a lower jaw, poor chap. I think it would look sweet if it was really big, towering over marines. Something along the lines of those giant Tomb Kings guys.

Oh man, I love the bloodletters. Glad to know I'm not the only one do thinks the cone heads aren't creepy enough haha

Also, what does exaulting a thread or post do?

sennacherib wrote:your a great artist. your sketches are nicely done. how long have you been drawing?

Hey Senna, thanks! I've been drawing all my life really as a hobby. I started a game design course in September so my drawing skills now are considerably better than before. Practice practice practice

You don't even have to make the models, just the drawings are enough for me, brilliant
But i'm sure when you have them all done this will be a pretty special army.

Looks very promising. Loving the sketches that you have done so far.

It makes me think that these daemons possessed the peoples of a desperate world looking to repel a Tyranid invasion.

I love your drawings. I hope you put more detail on their heads on the models. Right now, the model heads look like blobs of greenstuff, whereas your pictures are incredible and so creepy!

That sword is really nicely done too.
