I have decided I'm going to revive this thread but with a slightly different focus. I'm doing a separate P&M blog about my Ork Waaagh! which is that of the mighty arch killa Garaghak. and My Raven Guard will now serve as a suitable enemy for my Orks culminating in a large diorama of the defence of Deliverance from Waaagh! Garaghak.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been a member of Dakka for a while now but have never actually gotten around to posting anything so seeing as it is new project time for the new year i'd try something a little different to my usual vien... So the Raven Guard 10th will eventually be doing the entire company but to start will be doing 1500pts

HQ
Shadow Captain Korvydae, Master of Recruits.
Chaplain: plasma pistol, jump pack.

TROOPs
10 Assault Marines (as Korvydae makes them troops): 2 plasma pistols, sergeant with power fist.
10 Scout Snipers: camo cloaks, missile launcher, Sergeant Telion.
10 Boltgun Scouts: heavy bolter, sergeant with combi melta.
2 Units of 5 Combat Blade Scouts: sergeants with power weapons.

FAST ATTACK
10 Scout Bikers: 3 astartes grenade launchers, sergeant with power fist.
2 Land Speeder Storms: multi-meltas.

The full Apoc force will end up being a tad under 100 models (due to the raven guard gene stock being tainted, by the alpha legion, and having to rely on stocks from terra, they are always under manned and companies rarely have the full complement of 100 marines) and have no idea as to how many points it will eventually be as will purely be a themey fluffy thing.

Just will be fun doing all the variences in skin tone as a raven guard marine ages their skin gets whiter and their hair and eyes go darker so were the regular scouts will have differences in skin tone and hair all the sergeants and full marines will have black hair and bone white skin. will get a few pictures done a posted in the next day or too of my first tester models

Just a few pictures of my test models for the project

Pictures are a little yellow due to the light in my room and have now lightened Telion and the Biker sergeant's skin to that lovely Raven Guard bone white

Always fun to start a new project! It's certainly an interesting list you've come up with. Is it fluffy or a new, evil genius strategy?

I like your HB and Scout Biker Sergeant. Creative bases! Is that an IG PF? Great OSL job, btw! My only CC would be to fade a bit more to the skin tone, it's a bit abrupt currently.

Keep up the great work!

The OSL is also too big, imho
it should be less prominent

ya the osl on the power fist is a little over the top it was ok on the darker skin tone i started with but as it lightened through the layers it needs to be calmed down a bit and ya it's the power fist from the cadian command box. Basically am doing a completely fluffy army its as the 10th were at the raid on Kastorel-Novem one of the few engagements that the entire 10th were present. So basically will meen I'll end up with a tad over 80 scouts the few full marines (including 2 chaplins and a librarian) that are attached to them and their command squad

But in reply the 1500 pt list is just what is playable, though probably not very competitively, while in keeping with the theme. Will have fun trying to take out tanks when all i have is a couple of powerfists, missile launchers and grenades

Lastly a couple of pics of my only finished finished marine so far

You could add some regular landspeeders (piloted by scouts, of course) with multimeltas. That doesn't deviate so far from your fluff...

Add land speeders. assault Marines are piloting them anyway and they are considered new guys.

Nice Raven guard. I'm loving the pics so far.

I'm working on a similar army theme but I have plumped for 3rd company with elements of 1st company.
Infantry only. If you want to pop veheicles drop a couple of melta bombs on the hull.

Not at all what I meant, was actually remarking upon the fact that there isn't much of a difference between the prices of fudgeworld and regular gw now I am sorry if I caused any offence I didn't actually mean to. Anywho back on topic have now built all my scout bikers so on to some serious painting as am gonna try to get a painted 1500 by the end of the month.

No offence at all. It was said with tongue in cheek. I should have made that clear. I'm old and don't use smilies much.

Hmmm... have just found out all the assault marines are meant to have red rims on their right shoulder pads for the Raven Guard. [adopt sarcastic tone] Yay! will have to go back and do them. ahh well should have the assault marines and all the sniper scouts done by the end of the week end

Squad markings can change from shadow force to shadow force. They do not necessarily conform to the Codex Astartes and it does state that marines should change their unit markings in campaigns where this will confuse and confound the enemy.

God I feel like such a geek right now. :-)

Ya you're right, just with the Raven Guard (which is different to codex) the right shoulder guard trim denotes the type of Space Marine. Green is for tactical squads, red is for assault squads and yellow is for devastators. The left kneepad displays the company number and then ya they do change their squad markings but I'm doing scouts so no squad markings for me (well except the like 15 full marines I actually have in the company) and low visibility version of chapter symbol (which is a good excuse for me not to paint pure white as it always turns out slightly chalky when i do) but then i'm getting most of my info from the Kastorel Novem book and Lexicanum for the theme so definitely up for any sugestions, comments and critism.

I find that Skull white turns out Chalky when you don't get it just right. You practically have to mix each time you load the brush.
