A report from a spy of mine:
Played two games - first game as Termies in the first scenario called 'Suicide Mission'.
It IS a suicide mission, have to get to a room to flame it with your HF that only has 6 shots. If your HF dies or runs out of ammo before flaming the room, GAME OVER MAN.
Died horribly the first time to genestealer tearage, the second time we wiped out his team mates (3 normal shooty termies and 1 Sgt who got killed fairly early and they lost command points) and got stuck in a corridor with stealers to the rear and to the front. Death AND glory time! He flamed his own corridor, fried himself and the stealer.
Suicide Mission should sound familiar to anyone who's ever played Space Hulk, as it is the most basic mission.
And the models:
You have over fourty BA icons on the Sgt alone, so pretty hard to convert them to something else, but the Librarian is quite simple which is good. Card stock is very heavy and nice. The models clip together in about 2-3 pieces with the bases stuck to the legs. You get a Sgt with Power Sword and SB, 6 Shooty Termies, 1 LC, 1 TH/SS, 1 HF, 1 SB/CF, 1 AC and the Librarian.
12 missions increasing in complexity, multi levels too. Each marine is named and the diff weapons do diff things, but the shooty ones are all the same in game terms. Use overwatch VERY wisely!
A lot of fun!

Exactly. The type of plastic GW uses is a tranclucent white in its raw form, they add pigment. Most pigments are designed to allow the manufacturer to control the plastics hardness and ability to resist to wear. But hardness is opposite to flexibility, so the rigidity that it brings makes it more inclined to break and snap rather than bend.

The terminator that has torn out a genestealer's head is just brilliant. The damaged armour, the stance, the dismembered corpse, it just radiates badassery.
I'm sold.
Incidentally, is it some grand coincidence that after 18 months of legal struggle to get the green light TearDown have finally been rejected weeks before the public announcement of Space Hulk?
If you don't know, TearDown created a freeware version of Space Hulk about two years ago, but were prevented from distributing it shortly after release when GW got wise to it. Ever since they have been improving their game and struggling for permission to continue from THQ (who paid for the license). After being turned down they are now trying to preserve the game minus the Intellectual Property violations in Alien Assault.
Perhaps in Alien Assault valiant space knights will fight chromosome thieves in space corridors? (sorry, had to)

They had red plastic for the characters in Warhammer Quest. Never experienced any breakage on those models and honestly, they got abused. Even the models with the swords and such sticking out were never broken. Good quality plastic.

Those minis are jaw droppingly amazing! I just wish it was not a ltd ed release or else I'd save up and get it, but asking for £60 out of nowhere is too much for me at the moment. I wish they had given some pre-release notification as I'd have pre-ordered it and saved over that time to buy it (though to be fair if I wasn't getting Arkham Asylum for 360 I could afford it). I don't have a problem with cardboard tiles, certainly not when the artwork on them is of that high a quality. I guess if you wanted plastic/modeled rooms/corridors you could buy the Anphaeleron base sections from forge world, though that would cost a lot. I like the cardboard tiles as for people like me who aren't great painters it is one less thing to worry about and they are a lot easier to store. If you think that £60 is a lot for a game with cardboard tiles you should see how much a complete copy of Warhammer Quest goes for on ebay! (another game I want to own). If I was collecting Blood Angels this would be a must buy, but as I'm saving up for the new Space Wolves in Oct the termies wouldn't fit in (and I don't fancy doing that much re-sculpting to make them look like Wolf Guard). It does however get me very excited for the Space Wolf models as long as they are as good as these .

Quest is great fun. I just got a box of Skellies, Ghouls and some Goblin Fanatics to add a little more variety to our campaign. We've got a party of 6 heroes going - Barbarian, Warrior Priest, War Dancer, Elf Ranger Mage, Witch Hunter and Wizard. We're having a blast.

Lightning Claws.
Storm Bolter/Chainfist.
5 Storm Bolter/Power Fist.
The number if Storm Bolter Power fist is more of a Guess as the set has 12 Terminators, and after all the rest there's only 5 slots left.

Ancient Chaos Terminator
|
Contents of the Space Hulk box are listed on the GW website in the article called Space Hulk Is Back!
Here's an excerpt:
"The sheer quantity of stuff is amazing - the box weighs almost 4kg. But it's the quality of the miniatures that completely blew us away. The game includes 35 miniatures - all completely new sculpts for Space Hulk. For the Blood Angels there are 9 Terminators equipped with power fists, storm bolters, lightning claws, a chain fist, a heavy flamer, an assault cannon, 2 Sergeants and a Librarian. Opposing them are 22 Genestealers. And a Broodlord.
Oh, and the Space Hulk itself is massive. We counted 10 rooms, 24 corridors, 8 T-Junctions, 6 corners, 8 end sections, 9 crossroads (including an offset one) and 20 doors (all with detailed plastic stands). All the floor sections are debossed and varnished on very dense card as are all the counters.
Adam Troke has written a introductory article on Space Hulk: First Contact that contains more details and a full contents list.
This is a one-off, limited edition product, with a single print run. If you have any interest in owning your own Space Hulk, I strongly suggest you advance order a copy today. Do not wait, because when they're gone, they're gone (although one of the Studio team did hint at a doing 50th anniversary edition in 2039). And DO NOT put this on your wish list, forget about it and expect to get one..."

Well they did say they'd be making an anouncement on/around this date quite some time ago....and whilst threads don't let you buy the thing, they do give you the info about timing and at least a vague idea of the cost.
...Arkham Asylum is good though.
And of course they might not actually sell out of the thing prior to its release.

Wow, the Space Hulk models look pretty impressive and much better than their other terminator and stealer counterparts. I wonder if GW is using some kind of newer mold technology and whether or not this has an impact on its manufacturing life.
I gave an e-mail to Neal, he's able to offer Space Hulk for $89 and he won't charge until its shipped which seems like a good thing since who knows how limited this run will be.
