Hi,

Here are some pics of one of the skaven i recently painted, they are both a little out of focus and im not quite sure how to get them looking great.

Im using a traveler DC 8500, if that helps.

There are some great photography tutorials over in the articles section. To start out, it looks like better lighting especially would help you out a lot, make sure you're in macro mode, and use a tripod. I've been able to find very cheap universal tabletop tripods for very cheap, and they improve images tremendously.

nice figures. i would suggest more than 1 light source to remove some of the shadows. just position a few table lamps and generate an even light source across the figure.

Your colors will typically be more correct if you photograph your minis on a black background instead of a white one. When I made the change I was blown away by how much better the picture color matched reality.

Try draping an inside out black tshirt over something for the background.

Looking much better! Another thing that'll help color is if you can get fluorescent "daylight" bulbs for your light sources. They'll give you MUCH truer color. Painting with daylight bulbs isn't a bad idea either.

Flood it with light. Daylight if possible or several lamps if not.

Once your figure is lit, take a piece of blank white paper and put it in front of the figure so you can use it to set your camera's "white balance". See your camera's instruction manual for doing this.

Set your macro on and your flash off.

Take your picture.

I will try getting a daylight bulb! i actually just got a new lamp today for painting/taking pictures so lets hope this helps in future XD

The only problem now is you can see how crummy a job i did on the base rim heh about 10 seconds with some graveyard earth.... not the way to go!

Haha, that should be a disclaimer on all photography threads/articles. "Do not attempt unless you are prepared to examine your paint job at seveeral times normal magnification."
